CT does sell alcohol in Sundays.
CT has pockets of nightlife. You just need to know where to go. In new haven there are plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to choose from. Toads Place and The Bar are local favorites. SoNo (south Norwalk) has over 30 upscale bars, restaurants and clubs and some feature live bands. Stamford and Danbury also have many bars, clubs and restaurants. The Black Rock section in Bridgeport has a huge music scene and plenty of venues offer live music. Plus, theres the bridgeport and hartford ampitheters, the palace in waterbury and other venues that offer big name concerts. Then, there are the casinos. If you want nightlife, CT has it.
Been to CT twice and never heard of Milford before although I drove near it a few times.
Fall not all beauty! If you have a large lawn with flowers, bushes and trees there’s a real mess to deal with. Landscape companies can be very expensive and not always very good.
In her video on West Haven, I was going to suggest Stratford instead of moving to West Haven. Stratford has the same amenities, but is thriving. One thing to be aware of, Stratford in general is contaminated with toxic chemicals. Short beach is on a landfill and both short beach and long beach have had guys in hazmat suits taking samples and trying to maintain what's there. Beaches are closed often due to pollution from Long Island sound as well. For cleaner sea water, go north in CT, but it's hard to find with the tide winds changing. Oceans are heating up and Fairfield county in CT has seen an increase in population of blue crabs, which are very southern crustaceans. Stratford is good for those just starting out, or trying to move away from NYC. There is a lot to do with children of all ages in this part of CT. Stratford is a part of Fairfield county and expect house prices to soar over the next couple of years. She claimed they were over $300K at the time of this video, but they are now over $400K two years later.
West haven has hit hard times. It was on the decline for a while, but the economy tanked. The schools are not great to say the least. Housing may be affordable, but you get what you pay for. Remember, location is everything. You can find the same amenities in other surrounding towns that are better off?
That's probably why CT has great health care and a high life expectantcy--the longer you live, the more taxes they can collect from you.
8/28 leaves already showing color on my maple tree out front.
Wow! Are you in northern CT? I haven't seen them down on the shoreline yet.
@@connecticutcoastallife Yes NW Connecticut. In a few weeks I'll have my first little pile of leaves stacked up.
i95 is a 6 lane highway from the NY border to branford and 4 lanes between east haven and Rhode Island. Rt 84 goes from 3 lanes to 6 lanes. Rt 9 is four lanes. i91 for the most part is a 3 lane highway. Rt 8 is the same as rt 25 down in Bridgeport. At that merger rt 8 has 10 lanes. Most of the stretch of rt 8 goes between 2, 4, 6, 8 lanes. The Merritt parkway is the only highway that has two lanes the entire way. It is considered the scenic route. We have other smaller highways, but they all have more than two lanes. I travel this state daily, from West Haven to Litchfield. I grew up in Fairfield county and saw i95 go from 3 to lanes to 6. I am old enough to remember the toll booths in Westport on i95. If these highways were mostly two lanes, can you imagine the traffic?
I love Connecticut. I am 74 years old, retired, own my house. Love the seasons, nice people, rolling hills. The taxes are a plague, especially on my small pension and social security. Cost of home, auto repairs are very high. The worst is the tax on vet bills of all things. If it exists, the state will tax it. They have been taxing internet purchases for a couple of years now. Love where I live, in an area away from traffic, ugly big box stores, fast food stinky restaurants which have infiltrated even nice towns and cities.
Beautiful place to live I'm from Brazil and I would like to live and work in a beautiful place like this. If there is a job out there, I would like to go to work and it's beautiful.
Derby and Shelton are not on the coast… they’re well north of the parkway.
I realize they are not on the coast. I talk about all towns in the area including many not on the coast...Shelton, Derby, Trumbull, Monroe, Ansonia, Woodbridge, Orange...I want people to understand the whole area. Most of my videos are focused on Milford, Stratford, New Haven, West Haven and those ARE on the coast.
Wow thanks for the explanation. Most channels never reply to comments. Have a great day! :-)
HATE the state, left in "13 after 38 years for GA never to look back...😅
Your corrected I lived in Florida <Saint Petersburg and you can see the differances as far as being friendly
Love your videos! Originally from Michigan and currently in Texas and considering a move to CT but not in a big city like Hartford, New Haven or Stamford. Taxes are high in Texas too as well as cost of living. Traffic is bad here too. My visits at my hotel where I stayed both times, I sat at the bar with a bunch of locals who were regulars and had a great time. Being a former Detroiter, I know what you’re saying. My next visit, I hope we meet.
Traffic is the worst. It seems like no one ever gets off the highway.
One of the worst cities in Ct
Thank you for your video, I’m considering a move to CT from Texas and originally from Detroit. Miss being near water. Visited the area a couple of times but missed Stratford, Milford and a couple of other towns.
@MotownJT please reach out if you come back. I'd love to show you around the area to see if it's a fit for you ☺
@@connecticutcoastallife when the time is right. Stayed in Norwalk twice. Flew into BDL. Went kayaking down the Saugatuck in Westport. Shopping at Loved Boutique in Branford. Ate at Via Sporza and Sally’s Apizza plus drove to Providence but never been to Stratford. Love Hwy 15
Best part about Devon is that I live there and I am a very cool guy. Great place to live. I feel as if the small neighborhoods have lost their charm due to modern housing being constructed and also because most of the old people who lived there are moving away. My favorite place is wildemere beach. There you will find me hanging around, digging in the sand, playing in the water. That beach is my territory 😎. It is still such a shame that the neighborhoods are not the same.
Anywhere in connecticut is better than living in nyc. Connecticut is not that bad
@fullarmourC I love CT! I just like to show folks the good and the bad so they are informed.
The "Great" people of Connecticut suck!! Just like the commie government that runs it. The only good thing about Connecticut is, leaving it!! ☕☕☕😎🇺🇸
I live in CT. I regret I am too old to move! Should have left the day after I retired.
The first time I was nearly killed, I almost didn't live to see my 9th Birthday.
Sure it's expensive and I myself battle poverty weekly. But if you know how to relate to others without causing self absorbed issues these you might realize there is really a lot to enjoy especially during the warmer months.many festivals and fairs , mostly good for disabled to get around. Many places to take in the arts of all kinds and a very rich history with lots of good doctors and education we even have been voted best pizza in the country several years in a row now. Ask the locals where all the interesting places are that's the best way to really find out not the visitor sites or guides.😊😊
Just visited CT and was surprised how run down, dirty some of the places were. I had also never seen as many homeless people in my life. I was honestly shocked..
These are the suburbs you’re showing. Show the east end and the west side where it all gets sketchy as well as the south where seaside park is. This is Trumbull and Fairfield your showing. Bridgeport is not the best place to live please don’t lie to these people lol
I lived in the suburbs of Bridgeport, but regardless of that we still lived near the hood that I honestly couldn’t say I left the hood because I still had to go to ghetto schools and see the ghetto everyday coming home from work, even if you live in the suburbs of Bridgeport you still aren’t safe.
Reason #1 = Bridgeport Reason #2 = Waterbury
Milford was a Great town, Now It' Only for the Rich - Lower Income not welcome Taxes too High
Corrupt Police Department!!!
Hair Dressers now forced to tax. Check
Which one is ok with dogs?
I was born raised and lived as a Westie for 30 years. It was nicer in the 90’s now not so much. The beaches are full of drug user needles. The town is rundown. I lived across the Boston post Rd. Before and after UNH was built and right across from it. It use to be an amazing place to live now it’s more like a slum.
Plus Farmers Market Thursday afternoons in summer
I moved from Florida to CT one year ago. I should have watched your video before I made the move. #7 was interesting, I say that people in CT keep to themselves. In my opinion, they are not friendly, but they’re not rude. 😊
You haven’t lived till you hear a fisher cat. You will never forget that sound.
Deteriorated town from 40 years ago ..beaches are only thing town has left
My wife and I moved to Milford from Norwalk last October, we're very impressed! Connecticut really has a rich New England charm about it and a fascinating history. In the fall, it's absolutely stunning! We've found Milford is much more welcoming on the middle class and they seem a little more reasonable on taxes as well! Even the beaches are great! The locals in Milford are some of the friendliest we've met in the state! Everything you could ever need is on Boston Post road. We're definitely considering settling down here! Thanks for the video.
@brendangallagher5336 I'm soo happy you love Milford!!! So do I - is it obvious? 😄 Hope you stay. It does have so much to offer for everyone. Great restaurants, great downtown, great beaches, history, shopping, convenience...the list goes on.
Been here all 30 years of my life and it sucks 😢💀she forgot FMLA tax, bag tax, and bottle tax which is now 10 cents. Also, we are rude 😂 80% of the time.
Hi, miss your videos! Are you going to be posting again?
@MariaT6317 awwww thank you. I have some ideas brewing right now. Hope to get back at it soon. Thank you again.
I have spent most of my life in Milford along with my family going back to the 1700's. My Mom and Dad grew up in the Devon Rivercliff area and there is no waterfront in Devon other that the Housatonic River. The area of Devon goes from the east area on Bridgeport Ave just past Landsdale Ave to the Housatonic River on the west. From the railroad bridge on Naugatuck Ave, North to a small bridge where Naugatuck Ave crosses over where the new Firehouse is. It never went to the Walnut beach. The area that you show in your video as Devon beach area is laurel beach
There are actually three faint accents in CT. In the east, there is a hint of Massachusetts, dropping off the last R in words-"pahk the cah"'. In the west there is a touch of New York- we drink "Rutt Beer, and the house is covered by a ""ruff'. That's how they talk in "NaHAven. In central Ct, they have a habit of inserting an E before the short A. ""camera" is "keamra", but don't quite pronounce the E.
Yup, when I travel to other states they hear the New Haven accent. Lol
Any outsiders looking to move here .. Get ahold of me.. I have a nice house I own and will sell.
You do really informative videos! Please keep up the good work!
@pareekphone2617 thank you!!
Don't move there, I have relatives that live there. At night, trains are not safe.
I wonder if people know at one time Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward had a house in Orange CT.
@victorkreitner754 I didn't know that! I knew he lived in Westport but not Orange. Thanks for the historical tidbit ☺
The best about CT is they don't have nearly as many MAGA TrumPutinian traitors messing the place up. I put it down to having good schools and educated citizens. 🤣
Well, well, well, TELL me, WHAT caused Bridgeport to go downhill in the 1970’s? Please, humor me. Hmmn……. $8k property taxes, $4k insurance premium, hmmmnnn, WHAT a great place to move to! Oh, the public schools, tell me how great they are!😂😂😂😂😂
I was born and raised in Mexico, and I moved on my own to Connecticut when I was 22 - I am 51 now therefore I’ve spent more than half of my life in this beautiful state. I am so happy and grateful to be here. I am a proud Mexican New Englander.
I lived in Shelton from 1973 to 1995. I periodically revisited in the early 2000s, but haven't been back in awhile. I keep meaning to come back for a sentimental visit, maybe in a few years when I retire. Even back in my time there it was a great place growing up.
VOCAL FRRRRRRYYYYYYYY 😅
