Was there recently. A 15 minute advertised queue time was extended to over 45 minutes as most of the cars dispatched only had two riders. I suspect the operators find this funny. I suspect most guests would disagree.

As a Tampa resident who’s been going to Busch since I was a kid and ate up any yt roller coaster content when I heard we were getting an rmc I lost my shit, bought a yearly pass so I could watch the construction, and started the painful wait for me to finally get to ride my first coaster converted into my first rmc… that wait was torture

man i miss the old canada the old toronto. im only 24 but i remember all these fun things from the past.

This was legitimately one of the best rollercoasters I ever went on. As a kid I went to all of the amusement parks with my parents and sister and me and my dad would ride basically all of them. We both said how this was one to the most fun and smooth rollercoasters we had ever been on. It was just fun. It didn’t knock you around. It literally was just a launch, loop and up and the back. I really believe that when Vegas went from the kid friendly family friendly era where they wanted everyone to have fun and then the parents would gamble to the “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” was what really ruined that city. It attracted all of the wrong elements to the city and as a result it became known as a gross cesspool. It used to be an enjoyable place to get cheap meals and entertainment and as a result people were having so much fun they couldn’t help but gamble. They also overdeveloped the strip way too fast. They should have never approved the Fontaine blue or city center. They should have waited for one of them to be finished before approving the other project. They should have pressured other locations to renovate before as they over saturated their market.

That Henry Ford comparison is really stupid, because he built his first car in 1896, just around ten years after Carl Benz an Gottlieb Daimler invented the modern motorcar (Benz initially built three-wheelers while Daimler already began with four wheels). And of course that was such brand new that there surely weren't any "automotive engineering" classes at universities/academies etc. But nowadays cars have become such technically advanced and elaborate that it's basically impossible to build a car that is comparative without any engineers. And I'm sure with the introduction of mass production even Henry Ford got some mechanical engineers to help him. We see what happened with Theranos, medical experts seemingly knew this couldn't work and warned the people, but a lot of shills who seemingly had no medical education (almost similar to Elizabeth Holmes, who at least began but then quit studying) brought in more and more investors...

It was 1974 and I was 9 and Ontario Place was heaven. We had not long moved from Northern Ontario to Hamilton, and a day trip to Ontario Place was a HUGE treat. The children’s area was not even complete at that point, but the ball pit(first I had ever seen!), the HUGE inflatable jumping field, the hanging soft cylinders, the rope glide, all those were in place and unlike anything my brother and I had ever experienced before. Inside the dome, there was a display of animated characters up high and they played “It’s a Small World”. And then there was the IMAX film being shown in the theatre, every time we went back, a different one. So awesome in those days when there wasn’t even a vcr yet! We went back every year for the next four or five years until we were teens. Such a happy part of my young life. Then Wonderland opened when I was 15 and it became the place to go……

Not that made up... locally Schlitterbahn is a term from my childhood in the 80s and earlier for when you polish part of a frozen body of water by sliding across, so it gets way more slippery and fun to slide there. Then you have made yourself a Schlitterbahn.

Back in the day, in the 80s, the spring fed Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels saved the day during the drought of the mid 80s, when the Guadalupe river, and other local popular water attractions nearly ran dry.

My Canadian town of 13000 people spends 1.8 million dollars every year on public parks and our 4 hockey rinks. I would expect Toronto could have afforded to eat the cost of operation to run it as a public service. Part of the lack of profitability probably had to do with the economic struggle that all of Canada dealt with in the 80s and 90s. It wasn't until around 2002 that things started to recover. I think local governments need to stop doing public/private partnerships and start running things like sprt stadiums and theme parks as public facilities. Make them free for locals, and maybe charge fees to folks from outside the municipality. If having a baseball team really helps the local economy, then having a baseball team with free tickets could only help more.

This show was fun and always had an audience what a huge L to replace it with the slow and the curious.
