Love your videos. You know. Iâm thinking. You and other relators should do event in the city. You all should do something where you get local apartment complexes and local real estate agency together. Do a big housing fair. Have games, dog area, and just let people see all the amazing places they can live in st.louis. Maybe even have shuttles that take people from the main event area to the apartment complexes or houses and do tours. That would be huge I promise.
You cant do anything in Saint Louis City without the risk of you car being broken into. Doesn't matter where., in broad day light. In front of police camera's. Its a gamble everytime and only getting worse
A failed investment / flip, nelly was finessed.
:(
I don't recommend moving to anywhere near St. Louis, especially within the city limits or north county. Poorly ran, rotting, decaying. Huge lack of enforcement. Really sad.
New town is the chesterfield of st charles. Be prepared to spend a buttload of money. However, itâs beautiful and reminds me of New Orleans. Anywhere around Main Street st charles will be crowded with tourists; but if you live close and walk dogs, each business has a doggy bowl outside so your dog wonât get overheated. The ones of us who live near Main Street can say itâs a pain in the ass so if youâre trying to go to the store and an event is happening there will be a long stop and go trip (because theyâll have all the main streets shut off; better off hopping on 370 to earth city and taking it to 70. I grew up on the opposite side of st charles (st charles west school) and then went to north county and came back 14 yrs ago. I will never go back to north county but know that the st charles area by Main Street is by the soup kitchen (which means loads of homeless individuals and drugs; weâre basically the country ghetto). Just things I wished Iâd kniwn
Remember when lacledes landing was the bomb?!?
I take Amtrak trips to Chicago from STL pretty regularly. Being able to experience Chicago without the prices of living in Chicago is pretty amazing. I just wish STL had competent leadership. Decades of population loss is just embarrassing.
What part of the city is Washington U of St. Louis?
If you have a car and want to keep it. Secured parking and cameras. 1 stolen car and 3 broken windows taught me that.
I wish all new neighborhoods would be required to have atleast 1/3 acre lot. They cram a ton of houses in so much and there is no yard. The area loses exclusivity with these newly built neighborhoods.
What is the name of the building at 4:10? It was a beautiful apartment!
That's a clip of unit #1607 in the Syndicate building! 915 Olive Street
You've made some good points. One thing that I'm not sure if you've mentioned is that the more and the better amenities included also tends to lead to higher monthly HOA fees. I've seen some at several hundred to over $1K a Month. That might price some people out of a condo. A couple buildings I like to check out occasionally to see their available condos are the Marquette Building and the Blu City Spaces buildings. They're in different parts of downtown, and they both have different aspects that might draw me to want to live there. The CWE and Debaliver neighborhoods also have attractive condo listings to me.
Yes that's a really good point! The reason I didn't get too into specifics with HOA fees is that they vary so much, even within the same building. For example a 1-bed unit in a building with a lot of amenities might cost $300 a month in condo fees while a 3-bed unit in the same building might have an HOA fee of $1,100 a month
@@LivingStLouis Definitely. The square footage comes into play what you end up paying in HOA's.
St. Louis native here. I was gone for 22 years and was amazed when I moved back that St. Louis Hills is still really nice. Another awesome neighborhood in the city is Holly Hills. Then I think the Bevo neighborhood is kind of dicey.
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, Iâd suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

@@temmyolarewaju9371 The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?

Missouri should trade most of STL to the Peopleâs Republic of Chicago in exchange for southern Illinois. Win win.
Hahaha oh boy
So excited to see this!
I just love St. Louis and am so excited to see a major news organization speaking this positively about it :)
Right!! We had no idea STL ranked so highly as a market until CNBC reached out to us for this highlight segment!
Iâve lived here for 32 years. Whatever this derek is saying is absolutely false. Yes, there is crime just like any city. Just learn where not to go. We travel a lot and am so proud of St. Louis. AndâŠthere is no crime in St. Charles. Every weekend my wife and I have to choose which band to see or event to go to. Iâm 72 and have lived in 13 different cities. There is no doubt that this city is my favorite.
Just don't bring your politics!
Fair
Missouri politics is already garbage, can't get any worse.
No don't move here I need to get a place before any real estate rush đ
Haha
We going half to start reminding people of are murder rate lol we don't want more people here trust međ
Youâre wrong about the liquor laws as far as time. No liquor sales after midnight on Sundays, or 1:30am the rest of the week.
A lot of talk about crime in the comments. I live in a gated mansion in Huntleigh and we have very little crime. I did think that my newspaper was stolen once, but it turned out that it was delivered to my neighbor Steve. Wouldnât you know it, he just took it for himself. Iâm watching you Steve!
Obnoxious, drunk tourists OR people who live in the County...đđđ You NAILED IT!đ
Hahaha! Speaking stereotypically that seems to be the 2 groups you see partying it up đ
Love your videos! STL is on our short list to consider relocating to in a few years. Your videos keep us up to date. đ
Iâm so glad to hear that!! Thanks for watching my content âșïž
I live in St. Louis City (not county) and I love it! My rule was to stay east of 270 when it came to picking a house. đ
Jacob, I think it would have been a good idea to mention the streets that bound downtown: Tucker Blvd. to the West, Wash Ave. to the North, Third Street to the East and Clark Ave. to the South. Also I did a quick Google check and there don't appear to be any schools located in the immediate downtown area. There is one listed on South Kingshighway and another on McPherson but those are not downtown. To me downtown is the business district and where City Hall is located. Hope this info helps.
As documented by Google and the city, Cole street in the north (with some others when you cross the interstate) and Chouteau to the south are the N/S streets that make downtown. If it were Wash Ave then you would be cutting off the North half of the street and convention center and if it were Clark you would be excluding half of the Cardinals propoerty IE the stadium. It isn't downtown but Confluence Prep is at Olive and 14th. Not SLPS but it is an option.
Thank you! The discussion of actual boundaries is a good point for me to add - especially when distinguishing downtown vs downtown west. Schools are another great topic Iâll include in the next downtown video!
Donât.
I agree... I prefer living in a less diverse place ... I prefer a more homogeneous community with little to no crime
yikes! don't agree with me if you're gonna be weird and racist about it
Im coming in late October to go to the Chess Hall of fame. Im excited!
Thatâll be so fun!!! Thatâs in central west end - very cool neighborhood to check out!
Correct me if Iâm wrong, but I am hearing rumors about the current paid for parking in front of ballpark Village being converted into a second or third cardinal way. Additionally, the rumor is a grocery store being put in the bottom of one of them
Read our guide on living downtown! thestlrealtors.com/downtown-st-louis-mo/
STL BUILDERS, stop neglecting a yard. All these new builds have crappy yard sizes.
the equipment at 6:32 is the home theater equipment and it looks like some smart home servers as well as some private servers.
That definitely makes sense
I ainât never heard of anyone want to retire in St. Louis but I do plan to visit it.
You might be surprised!
Iâve lived in the suburbs of St. Louis for 31 years. I have lived in 13 different towns. St. Louis is my absolute favorite. Iâm proud of this city, however, understand that St Louis is about 300 thousand. Towns surrounding St Louis total over 2.8 million. You would have to be crazy to live downtown. Period. Every city has its bad areas. St. Louis has very bad areas. Just know and donât go.
I suspect that St Charles will become the next North County.
How do you mean that?
@LivingStLouis The same racial dynamic that played out in parts of North County appears to be starting in St. Charles. The dynamic can't be stopped once it gets going.
dont go down the wrong streets here. dont stop at stop signs in certain places around here, for some reason that will get a gun pulled on you. some places are fine but most of the nothern and outer downtown places is pretty damn bad
I wish there was a know before you buy in Warren county, specifically Wright City. I wanted St Charles area, but husband wanted outside of St Charles county, but we bought in Wright City Feb 2024, and we have had antisemitic acts from week one. Now we are stuck as neighbours threaten, we are trying to get house ready to rent or sell if we can sell⊠but⊠warning âŠ. Wright city is very xtianly. So I wonder, where are the xtians that say they stand with Israel⊠or is it the land they stand with and not us Jews. So yeah⊠would have loved to have had a heads up on the area before purchasing, in Wright city, and all the New Town residents we have met seemed respectful towards us, where here, we can not even go to the gas station, wentzville or Schnucks in Warrenton with out one of our neighbours telling us we need to accept Jc or we will burnâŠ.. maybe itâs the difference between rural people to suburban?
The main issue/difference is crime and politics. Saint Charles is more conservative with crime and spending. Saint Louis is more progressive with being soft on crime and focuses more on welfare services. When it comes to economy, Saint Charles focuses on infrastructure (paid by taxes). When it comes to Saint Louis, its spending focuses on welfare. Avoid Saint Louis if youâre looking to retire, raise a family, have peace of mind, etc. Iâm not saying Saint Charles doesnât have issues, but much better than STL. Iâm from NYC, Saint Louis is worse than NYC. As for the zoo, itâs not free. Itâs paid by tax payers aka welfare.
You're be the perfect person to ask! I'm from Manhattan, UWS, right by Columbia Univiersity. Looking to move to St. Charles/St. Louis area. What areas in St. Louis do you recommend? I'm looking for 3/2 with minimum 1 acrea. After so many years in apt dwellings, I'm looking for a little breathing room. What areas do you recommend? Where should I stay away from? Any tips? Lastly: How did you zero in on St Louis/St Charles' areas? Thank you kindly for your time! :0)
@@myragarces-madera2450Iâd recommend you live in the south or so west section of Saint Louis County. I donât recommend living in the north, north east, or Saint Louis City. Since youâre looking for land you have Town and Country or Affton (both Saint Louis county). Now when it comes to Saint CharlesâŠ.Wentzville, Lake Saint Louis, and Oâfallon. Iâd love to retire in Saint Peterâs, but itâs very expensive. I do need to warn you. Do not move to the north section of Saint Louis County. Do not!
@@myragarces-madera2450answer the last question, I found Saint Charles because of my ex. Iâve been here for a few years so I became familiar with the area before buying property. You can leave your door unlocked in Saint Charles, thatâs how low the crime rate is. Down side, slightly higher property tax.
Bellefontaine is always pronounced "bell-fowntin."
Yes!
Funny to stumble upon this video. I grew up in OFallon
Oh nice!! We have some videos on O'Fallon too!
I live in New Town, and I couldn't agree more. Beautiful, and homes there are RAPIDLY gaining in value.
It's one of our favorites!
Limited boundaries of our St.Louis, created a commercial restrictions, it has hurt the city of St.Louis
I live in St.Louis, I love St.Louis, it's dangerous, but I've loved good , I get all I need to live, ,all is between me and God
River point is no longer happening. The sign is down and the project is no longer listed on the developerâs website. Tore down an entire forest and ruined the island trails for nothing.
Should talk about crime. Thats the biggest determination for most people. And the difference is stark.
this dude is so genuine and also informative and transparent. you're cool man
I appreciate you đ«¶
At one time I loved St Charles and County but they definitely went downhill. Both governments suck all the way down. You're better off somewhere else. I was born here and try to escape whenever possible.
