I’ve been struggling with guilt and shame my whole life. This has shed some much needed light on my past experiences and current experience. A part that stuck with me was the part about seeking help when you’re at your most vulnerable and the struggle with making that simple phone call to a stranger. I was around 17 when I realized I needed therapy but my parents just handed me a phone and told me to figure it out basically. I never got therapy until I was 25. I realize now I couldn’t do it because I was in such a bad place I really needed an extra bit of help that my parents never gave me. But I acknowledged it and am letting that go. It’s in the past now and I’m just happy I finally got therapy and have improved greatly. So thank you for a video like this.

Highly agree because of one simple detail: Glen Schofield's Rancid Moon finally got made under a publisher who never put out their own lore gameplay-wise. Clearly, they asked him to tie it in then decided against it and the result is two great ideas coming out as one half-baked product with no self-respect. I basically can't think of anyone satisfied with this. Glen Schofield didn't get to make the game he envisioned nearly fifteen years earlier, PUBG didn't get to have sick lore in a video game that plays to it, and fans who supported the project got fleeced of their money for being the most committed. A year later, all the things that should have shipped with the game, now have, yet it is still too late, half-assed, and buggy a version for that many to care. And you shouldn't have to pay for half of those things. Oh, and Denuvo. jfc, game studios these days, i swear. just make cool products out of cool ideas stop trying to set up what is basically a dlc store no one likes when quality simply earns its profit, geez! great video.

This is how you go broke. Kids who like these games have too short an attention span for big lore like this. It's not where the money is at. Also needing to go through all this for "muh lore", a website, another obscure website, some korean webtoon(the format is horrible and inferior to manghua or comic panels) and then we get this end product that no amount of passion can fix. It can echo foreign lore or try to be part of an expansive universe, but it just won't work. It's an ARG, a comic universe, a survival horror, a battle royale, and a whole-lot-of-nothing. Do one thing, and do it well. Fortnite is oddly more flexible because it knows what it is, embraces the insanity, so there can be crazy ass mashups and crossovers without it being at the expense of muh lore. A game should be a game first. They'll still make money, but they should stop this nonsense. Just sell toys like everyone else and micro-transacs.

Honestly from the small bits of what we see I think they were gonna do a decent job connecting pubg and this game together and should have stuck with it would have been interesting, far more interesting than what they gave us.

Also, i appreciate games like darktide, vermintide 1 and 2, and space marine because they're such good ways to get INTO warhammer for me my first contact with warhammer was space marine and i loved it. For my 2nd contact it was vermintide 2. Playing vermintide allowed me to meet my now best friend! And his (now our) wonderful group of friends i love with my life. Warhammer has had a positive effect in my life, i will be forever thankful of it. PRAISE THE GOD EMPEROR!

I am a proponent that Warhammer 40k is a horror series. Darktide shows the darker side of hive life and the use of penal forces by the inquisition, coupled with the crushing forces of chaos fighting a war of attrition more than a fast lighting fight. Life in this universe is dark and gritty, from the start in the 30k setting coming from a full apocolypse to the emperor of man unifying man to the horus heresy stagnating advancement for 10000 years. Assaulted by all sides including within from aliens, chaos and other humans fighting for survival there is no real respite. You nailed this in the video, good job! And as a Warhammer addict I 100% agree with the comparison of fantasy to grimdark lord of the rings ;)

Gods and powers that be, I really needed this video (and therapy). I instantly thought of the God of War series when you mentioned cycles, so I love that you featured it! I so admired Kratos wanting to break those cycles and doing anything that he could to keep Atreus from experiencing the suffering, pain, and guilt that he experienced, and even learning how to let Atreus be his own person along the way. Thank you very much for this wonderful video, the encouragement and reassurance, the attention to mental health, especially in how it's portrayed in video games and other media. I started searching about the game after I already finished it and I am shocked about how everyone hated it and had technical issues with it, meanwhile it was perfect with me with no issues at all and playing the dlc immediately after made it such a beautiful complete game

I loved metroid 2 as a kid and still do. Not sure why it gets dumped on so much. I was a huge gameboy fan and this game solidified my love for the system, as a young kid.

I have a friend I used to get on discord with nearly every day. He’d helped me through some seriously turbulent times in my life, when I had no one else willing to listen. Unfortunately, when it came to his struggles, I’d freeze. Unable to offer much of anything, and sometimes, say anything at all. Knowing how bad it feels to be left hanging after expressing vulnerable emotions, I began to ask for updates less often; going as far as removing, “how’s it going?” from the beginning of our calls. I didn’t even realize how guilty I had felt about this for YEARS, up until recently. After a huge argument with my family, I began to reflect on multiple events around the same time. My older brother was and is extremely mentally ill. Back in my teens, I was charged with being his main care provider. This boiled down to sitting planted on the couch with him for hours and days on end as he spiraled further and further away from reality. Every word or perspective I offered was immediately shot down. Anything that went outside of his continuing self-analysis, anything that would get us off the couch, only led to an hour-long screaming tirade that would leave him in an even greater place of hopelessness. The “truth” of our household was my brother was doing everything he could, so we had to give everything we had. I was able to identify these experiences as the reason I felt so incapable of speaking up and supporting my friend. My brother didn’t really want the support that came from me as an individual, as HIS brother. In truth he just wanted another body to share in his pain as a way, to feel less lonely. For whatever reason, he wasn’t “doing everything he could”, and although he has my sympathy, what he demanded was too much. Coming to terms with these truths has been hard, but also enlightening. I got to see more clearly than ever how I had failed my friend, and why. Now I got to ask myself the question, “Do I identify with those reasons?”, “Is this who I want to be?”. So, while lying in bed I wrote an apology to my friend, crying and whaling with each passing sentence. So much bottled-up sorrow and guilt was moving through me all at once. I took responsibility for how I had failed him and expressed my desire to make a change. I haven’t heard from him sense (about two weeks ago) as he has his own bouts of extreme isolation. But I’m confident I’ll hear back soon. Thanks for the great video and the inspiring vulnerability, as well as the invitation to share down here in the comments. Looking forward to the next one :).

It would have improved the story. I'm a big fan of interconnected multimedia AR stories. But the gameplay would still remain Diet Caffeine Free Dead Space Lite.

So much work has gone into this video and it is really well researched. I could've never thought that PUBG has such a deep lore and could provide a meaningful connection with The Callisto Protocol. It is just sad that you probably gave up CZcams as the last video was from four months ago. Wish you all the best.

Maybe the game set in new state's timeline which is a sequel of PUBG but on mobile since both game's timeline are set in dystopian future this makes sense.

I found this video because someone recommended it in Mandalore's comment section, and I'm glad they did. It's really interesting to see just how much of the PUBG DNA was still left in Callisto Protocol by the time of release. The fact that the phrase "Vir Solitarius" is still in there is pretty crazy... they could've just edited it out...

If we knew tbe lore yeah the game would mean a lot more. Excellent job

Didn't know PUBG is doing what Team Fortress 2 pulled off with just giving you straight gameplay in the game and later crafting an eventually well thought out lore surrounding it. Actually good stuff. Only difference is the fans have more to go on in Team Fortress 2 cause little things like flavor text on cosmetics/weapons and eventual lore crossovers (MvM, Ms Pauling talking to you) actually have consistent themes with the lore so it doesn't just feel like an (well constructed) afterthought.
