Had experience tonight with Crisis Diversion Team. There was an intoxicated man lying right in the middle of main street. Called CDT. The team showed up in about 10 minutes and picked up the man. Man was grateful and very friendly. I believe his name was Boyd. BTW. The team consisted of two very beautiful and friendly ladies. Hats off to you ladies.👍🌹🌷🌺🏵

in the '70s when people from southeast asia were first moving here i was working and one of the men came to me to ask what he could do about his wife leaving with the children after he slapped her. the other women at work helped her leave and he was quite upset. i told him that it may have been ok to hit his wife in vietnam, but it was a crime here. i let him know he might need a lawyer and he must never hit her or the children again. i didn't really take him to task because this was all new to him, but i did let him know there would be repercussions for abuse.

I called the diversion team as I was concerned about a homeless person sleeping on a church step landing. The person was covered up but had been there for hours. I called to ask that they check on him. The team came and shortly after left. I received a follow up call telling me the man stated he was fine and wanted to stay on the steps. The team respected his decision and left. This morning the man had packed up and left. I hope he found a place to get some breakfast. The diversion team is a great asset to our community and in these hard times I'm so grateful they are here to help.
