Registrace 7. 09. 2013
Hi I'm Len and Make Things... in my Basement (or garage or outside when weather is nice). And most of all I like to share my knowledge and experiences. I tried to cover topics that are interested to me and others such as Laser Cutting/Engraving, 3D printing, woodworking, electronics and much more! I do unboxing and reviews as well.
Laser Cutting Big Acrylic Tube with PiBurn Grip Rotary
For a side project, I needed to cut a precise length of 76mm diameter acrylic tube (1/8" wall thickness). I've always wondered if I can use my PiBurn to cut acrylic tubes, and guess what, it actually worked great!

This is a detailed Tutorial Showing how to do a full wrap 360 degree laser engraving on tapered (or ANY other) tumblers. NOTE: I made an error in aming second part 2. It should be Part 2: Graphics work It took me a while to figure out how to do it properly and I found that this method works great! Remember 80% of it is graphics design (vector work in Illustrator). Once you get workflow nailed d...
Rotary Attachment Calibration: 100mm Square Test
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
Here's a simple way to figure out and/or calibrate your laser rotary attachment settings such as steps per rotation and diameter. Diameter is pretty constant number, it's the diameter of your main drive roller wheels on the rotary. But steps/pulses per rotation will be different depending on your laser machine. We use a simple 100mm square test. You can use inches instead of metric system, just...

What is SLOP Over Error and how to deal with it
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 2 lety
Have you been stopped from engraving a tumbler by "Y Slope Over" error? This video goes into details about why it happens and how to deal with it. We explain everything using flat object as an example because it is easier to understand but same concept applies to cylindrical objects engraved on rotary attachment.

How to Adjust V-Wheel Tension on PiBurn (for V2 but very similar for V3)
zhlédnutí 143Před 2 lety
Sometimes you might find that "carriage" on your PiBurn is a bit too loose on the rail. This is something that can be adjusted fairly easy. If you look closer at the carriage you will see 3 small wheels riding on the rail. 2 of them are in line and performantly fixed, but 3rd one that's on the opposite side can be move closer or further away. This can be achieved by loosing screw and nut that's...
Cutting Cork with Vortex Vacuum Table
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 3 lety
Cutting think adhesive cork that comes in the rolls is pretty much impossible with vacuum table. It tends to roll up and even if you manage to hold it down with weights on the sides, middle sections will start popping up as soon as they cut, frequently messing up your cutting. Even putting it under heavy weights for weeks will not completely straighten this cork. Vortex Vacuum table will hold h...

In last episode we promised to show how to engrave this large 67 oz growler/bottle. This is one of the largest objects we tried engraving on new PiBurn 3.0. This time we not only show engraving process, but also explain settings and over many topics that new rotary users might not be familiar with. Like slowing down acceleration, sizing the design and correctly positioning it on the object.

What software is that
Sooooo, you built a housing for a moderately expensive Fume filters that come in the housing of their own and called it Affordable DIY Fume Laser Fume Extractor? dear god...
Thank you for this!
What laser did you pair with the PiBurn Grip?
Thank you so much! May I ask were you you bought the seals/parts/grease from?
I'm confused by how this works when the tumbler has two different circumferences? It looked like you made your first test at the top and then the second at the bottom how can these lines be the same if the circumference is different?
Are any versions of the Piburn rotary compatible to work with the xTool P2 CO2 laser? xTool makes it sound like their RA2 rotary is the only device that will work with xTool. I want to engrave a 1” wide band with various patterns on the upper outside wall of 8” and 6” wide wood bowls I make on my wood lathe. I can leave the 2.5” tenon on the bowl bottom to facilitate the engraving. Then remount on the lathe to remove the tenon.
Thanks for the guidance!
Awesome video!
Cardboard? Really? Why wouldn't you demo it with something that is commonly used, like 3mm plywood?
theres probably quite a bit of flashback
Whats the distance from tube to firs mirrow!? Great video by the way💪🏻❤️🇭🇷🫡
Installing stuff on this thing is not that easy... I can't get the weather option to work, WiFi connection... is weird, since you have to connect by IP address, but.... the IP address of the device (since my routers IP isn't recognised). Other features don't work. If I load images and want to switch to that, it 'hangs' . Rotrics themselves, obviously don't do shit anymore with this device since, nothing on their page about support or new features. The device is nice, looks cool, but... they should have done better support , and connecting to it, should have been done simply by USB (not 'COM' ports, that's from the nineties guys).
Thanks for the video! Wondering how quiet these fans are? Do you always need 2? Could I use a AC Infinity axial for the second fan?
Would it be possible to use this laser this laser to clean antifouling and rusted keel of my boat?
great video my man, thanks from Miami, FL USA.
I got sea sick watching this guy walk around his shop. Needs a little training on using his camera.
Great build, and love the 'CAUTION' theme! What is the footprint of your laser, that smoke lingered, was it vented for fresh air intake? I have an Atezer with extension kit, roughly 17" x 33" (430mm x 850mm) and am wondering if I should plan for 2 fans as well.
How does this compare to more hobbyist style laser cutter like the new Laserpecker 4? I can get the LP4 for half the price so I wonder how better the results would be using this. I'm mostly interested in engraving ABS and metals.
I'm definitely going with this filter, but rather than using 2 inline fans, I'm upgrading the small furnace blower for the Fasco Centrifugal Blower B45267, which can give me 460 cfm under negative pressure for about $300, and let me vent back into the room. The one thing stopping me is I need to find a local maker that can 3d print me a fitting to replace the input's metal ring with a mount that I can attach straight to the box. I've got until winter to find one. The next few months I'll just hope I don't annoy my neighbors TOO much!
I want to build something like this to carry my 360 cameras and stuff around to get more dynamic shots. Any ideas? Plans? I have lots of 1x1 alum extrusion
What is that spring on the lens?
BOWLING BALLS.. and Bowling Pins. (a good contour to try out and test the weight)
Thanks a million! So easy to correct when you know where to turn to for help, BUT oh so frustrating before I remembered your Video. . Had me winding my bottom and scratching my watch trying to figger it out. Now I can go back to burning and earning. I had to RE-WATCH your video to refresh my brain. Old age is hell (70 years YOUNG). You can teach an old dog new tricks, just don't expect them to remember them. The other day I was walking in the pasture with a rope in my hand. and for the love of mud couldn't remember If I found the rope or lost a horse.
You are hilarious 😂. Thank you.
Thank you love the information!!
Where can I find the same connector to connect the display?
Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial! What is the point of changing the scan angle to -180? Isn't that same as leaving it at 0 angle since it engraves both directions (i.e. bi-direction fill)?
stumbled on this video because I have to do the same thing on my Mk3s. This was super helpful, thanks!
Any advice on why I’m ending up with a small gap? i want to fully wrap a design but it diet not…
Great job
Great video. Thank you.
Do you have a video like this for the grip? This is a great video but wasn't sure if the grip acts the same way?
I’m so happy I listened to you Len and got the 4.0. Absolutely amazingly outstanding. ♥️☺️♥️

How and where can i buy one?
I think it's 96x16 not 196x16 :)
Yo Bros. Good to see you, still have not pulled the trigger but I am looking.
I just love the excitement when trying something for the first time, and SUCCEEDING!
If that came in the box like that I would want my money back😅🤣😂
Why did you switch to adjusting the the diameter settings instead of just continuing to change the steps per rotation with a smaller amount eg. adding 500 or something? Wouldn't that be less confusing to just keep attaching the one value till you get it right or is there some good reason I'm missing by switching to adjusting the other figure instead?
Excellent knowledge thanks for knowledge
I'm confused, why build this massive box if you're not putting 4+ MERV 13 HEPA filters into it?
I could have saved 3 days of Drilling/building and $60 by buying one of these. Maybe next time.
Is it only possible with fiber laser. Does diode laser work? Thanks.
