There are great bikes out there. faster, more reliable, better looking, cheaper. and you don,t have to pretend to be a want to be. with a skull face mask on wearing a T shirt in winter.. Clever. Funny comment coming from a guy (PhatboyHD88) that obviously owns a HD twin cam 88 with cam tensioners that rip up motors anytime after 20,000 miles would comment on a Victory motor. No, I'm not a HD hater, I own a Road King, Just pointing out HD has more then enough of their own problems including the 2017 M8 107 low oil pressure at idle issues. Sorry, The Harley Davidson we all loved growing up is gone and has been taken over by the company bean counters.

      @PhatboyHD88 Před 7 lety

      In case you didn't know it victory used chain drives with tensioners on their cams also, know what you are talking about before ya answer , you only make yourself look uninformed ... and by the way I don't own a twin cam 88 I own a twin cam 110.. and the cam tensioner you were talking about was fixed many years ago.. then tensioner is no longer a spring tensioner, is is hydraulic. With a much bigger shoe.. so again you are talking without knowing what you are talking about

    • @napalmmotorsports
      @napalmmotorsports Před 7 lety

      Yes, Harley now uses hydraulic cam tensioners, they took the design from the Victory engine. That was a feature of the first engine in '99. Harley adopted the design several years later. Harley has also adopted the 4-valve head this year. All good.

Better for making HP and Torque,,, Victory take snow mobile tech and shoves it down your guys throats and you believe them... Cracks me up,,, and why is it Victory dealerships are closing their doors ?? Every where ? Cause their product sucks ,, they had over 188 recalls last year on there junk... Do your research from a non bias source ya might learn something... Most dealers won't even take a Victory on trade ? Why cause they aren't worth anything that's why... And how do I know this because I have worked at a Harley dealership as a mechanic for 18 years ... Why were Victory dealers closing their doors? It's probably something to do with Polaris cannibalizing its own market with two somewhat similar brands. Also, there was no $2.3 billion bailout coming from the feds. You like what you like (HD does make some appealing products), and other people like what they like (there's a reason one of my bikes is a Victory). As good as they nearly all are, it's kind of silly trash taking the other brands' product quality these days. And I don't just mean HD & Victory.

    I am glad Polaris is a multi billion dollar company that owns victory and Indian motorcycles. whether you like it or not competition is good for all of us. The only reason Harley went with multi piston calipers in 2000 was because in 1999 victory had it! Harley fans should love that, but y did it take so long for them to do it themselves? I don't think they were in a hurry for better braking. victory is a 50 degree 4 valve counterbalanced engine, Indian 49 degree 2 valve engine and there both air and oil cooled. imagine putting a jacket around the piston sleeves. the twin cams run hot not like my evolution! rear cylinder shutdown, and water cooling exhaust valve only in head is a patch! i'm no engineer but, I have enough sense to know cast iron cylinders hold heat, when they came out with the evolution with aluminum cylinders with steel liners, it was a great cost effective move. even AMF could of done something like that! enjoy what's happening to all the domestic company's its only going to get better!!!! peace out

  • @marinom5602
    @marinom5602 Před 8 lety

    lets face it, we all love the 45 degree single crank pin Harley's sound!!! Fly wheels that are pressed together and go out of true isn't going to cut it. Since Harley only makes large displacement cruisers and now medium size displacement bikes, they turned to Porsche to design the v rod and street 750 and 500 because they don't have enough mechanical engineers, or pay enough for the right team. go easy on me, I love my FXR lowrider. Yamaha makes a pretty decent engine in the raider. pushrods 2 valves forged one piece crank plain babbit bearings, its 48 degrees,side by side connecting rods, and sounds good. maybe Harley should tear one apart and make it better for them. they could save a lot of money in engineering that they don't want to spend.

    I don't see what the big deal is with Harleys. I've ridden them before along with yamahas, hondas, victorys, and Indians. Honestly there was nothing special about the harley. Nothing about having HD on the bike made me like it any more than the others. Not to mention the fact that they are the bikes that are on the bench the most at the shop. I don't know much about the Harley in this video or the rider but just watching I can easily out perform this bike. I have put my HP and torque on this post before - it gets dislikes and complaints. It doesn't change what my bike is putting out - it is tuned on a dyno every year at the start of season so it is what it is despite the doubters. Joe - what gear was he in at 126 mph - just curious. I can hit 90 in third on my Harley - few Harley's can do this and I am shifting in the 5,500 to 6,000 RPM range.

    My little 675 cc Street Triple R with Arrow 3-1 and QuickShifter will lay waste to these over-weight porkers in a straight line or on the back-roads, and will cream any of them in a top-gear roll-on at any speed. Cruisers are for posing; a real motorcycle has to handle at speed.

    • @TheFoundersWereRight
      @TheFoundersWereRight Před 9 lety

      Cruisers are not for posing. Street bike "haters" like yourself will probably never understand. That is ok though. You stay on bikes you prefer, and I will do the same. Cruisers and baggers are never going to go away, and that is something that you are going to have to get used to. Oh, and when it comes to what a "real" motorcycle is, you have to understand the purpose. Riding is about freedom. It's not about speed, or getting there the fastest. Its putting yourself out there and feeling everything around you, being in the open with no roof or frame to block the view of the land around you. The faster you go, the more you are missing out on. Above all, ride safe.

      @Grizzlybike Před 9 lety

      I will never understand the folks that perpetuate the "Us vs. Them" mentality when it comes to street bikes and cruisers. It's completely illogical at best and extremely counter-productive at worst. There are absolutely differences in the style of ride and mindset of the rider. I have no need for obscene speed nor do I need to be vertical at any point during my ride. I don't feel the need to drag a knee around corners or dress in a power-ranger suit. But I appreciate sport bikes and their riders despite it not being my personal "style". The notion of freedom, being a master of your machine, having a respect and admiration for the road and the experience of "the ride" is an individual thing. But by perpetuating disrespect is ridiculous. You enjoy your ride, I'll enjoy mine. I'm out there to have fun, make memories, and enjoy "the ride" with my brothers and sisters on two wheels. You ain't gonna harsh my mellow. For everyone out there that refrains from unnecessary drama, kudo's. Y'all are the reason I love "the ride".

And yes, base Harley's are about as much as base Vics; however that was a 110 inch screaming eagle. They are rarely less than $30K and often much more, especially after you get done adding all of the do-dads. Getting beat by a smaller engine on a bike that costs less should embarrass any Harley owner.

      geneseesolorider Why would it be embarrassing? The owner obviously prefers a Harley, hence..why he owns one. My buddies similar sized Japanese cruiser is faster than my Harley, and I couldn't give a rat's ass about that fact.

      geneseesolorider even still it is not a race bike, it is not made to go fast, victory like many other manufacturers out there all want to out-do Harley, so they think that the key is to be a faster bike and that is wrong, very wrong, there is more to a Harley than speed obviously, some don't like Harley and whatever to each there own, but there is nothing to be embarrassed about, you can take that victory and put it against a v-rod and it will lose so what difference does it make? just because it has screaming eagle parts doesn't mean its the fastest bike in the world, those are Harley Davidson performance parts to get better than stock performance, Ford, Mopar, GM all have there own performance parts but guess what that doesn't make them the fastest cars in the world either

    You know it's kind of funny. Most people have their favorite brand of bike and they like to talk smack about the other brands. I say ride what you like and enjoy it. I don't have the money to go out and buy a Harley or a Victory I would if I did. So I will be content to ride my 99 Goldwing it's paid for and never has left me on the side of the road so far. I'm busy enjoying the ride to care if some other guy can get to the next stop light before I do. My bike was built in Marysville, Ohio by American workers. I think all brands have good and bad points so I guess it's a matter of opinion on with brand is better than another one. I say to each his or her own and keep riding and enjoy the ride.
