As a day job, I've been the director of product development for a multi-category corporation since 1996. More profit with less work or input is fantastic for making profit, but much like planned obsolescence it creates shitty fucking products. Fuck their slow ride freefall into a game that's less game and more slot machine and fuck their failed ability to either oversee their own development and stop using cut rate third party gacha developers like tencent and nexon or farm the game out to a developer that understands the positive growth of creating framework that would cater to more than just the new user, the casual user or the inept. Some of us have IQ's higher than 50 that would appreciate a "game" that challenged us, made us think and required more effort than logging in once a week to be top tier or better yet a game with enough depth that milestones and longterm goals were achievable. Right now someone can download this game on July 17 and by August 1st they're in the same OVR category as someone who has been playing since September 2023. Until they run out of new users too gullible to buy into the spin before they get bored and move onto a more complex game, nothing will change. This is the beginning of the end for the game veteran players fell in love with 8 years ago. We can only hope that either their Blue Ocean strategy of irrelevant competition ends with a FIFA release from a dedicated developer or their third party development runs out of bells and whistles and the game becomes an actual companion to console. Either way, Universal Tokens and events that give out 9 month old OVR cards, constant hacking in DR and events that 90% of players are not at all motivated to play are going to continue to be the norm until something better comes along. I for one, will never not be blunt, offensive at times and above all passionate about a game that we're watching dig its own grave. Slowly. While everyone sits in their pot of luke warm water watching EA slowly turn up the heat, I'm glad to be the creator pissed off that the water is eventually going to boil everyone alive the day they wake up and realize they're either no longer playing or when they do, they spend more time getting rid of pop ups and watching ads than playing football.

In my observations, as a player since 2019 with some smaller breaks (yet always following the content and released new stuff) the game started turning around not that long time ago. The first red flag was to introduce ranks, which was made to force players to use the new released cards instead of levelling up base cards to 120ovr, which was kinda fun, however the freedom went badly since it lowered their income and eventually, the community started taking their eyes off the new events because of packed, theme squads levelled up to the maximum possible ovr. So in my opinion, releasing ranks limiting levelling players to a specific number was the first red flag, the current meta forces players to use the newest cards even though they literally don't differ. I still keep seeing opponents in H2H using base Torres or Blanc on gold ranks, and actually, it turned out to not be a bad option because they are still playable after 9 MONTHS somehow. Another thing I would like go refer to are big amounts of ads and advertising stuff like gem offers. It became a "meta" in all spheres of "free" apps or games recently, from mobile games to dating apps. Media nowadays are brutal, ads popping off everywhere and there will be more and more. The only way to escape obeying it is to purchase "Premiums" (paying to avoid watching something you're not interested in, stonks). And finally, referring to the current situation, the main reason why EA stopped fighting for players and showing interest is lack of competition: PES fell really bad as the main opponent that held back and motivated developers the most. Today we can only hope and look foward for UFL at least. They didn't even hesitate to terminate the contract of FIFA license, which was iconic and trademark of all EA Sports football editions since 1993. That also appeared to be another red flag and step back. At the end of the day, they ain't losing anything until no big boy comes out with an alternative, like I previously said, maybe UFL.
