I lost a bit of my appetite for the anime after the dozenth "Friendship trumps objective power" deal and relatively low stakes with minimum amount (if any) deaths of main supporting characters. Not that I WISH for deaths of anyone, but you quickly feel like "Oh look, a huge enemy that is capable of flicking every one of them away with his/her pinky, but friendship will save the day". And sure enough it does. It may not have ever been intended to be that kind of manga/anime though and for what it was worth I very much enjoyed the first few years. A "Feel-good" show for most part can be just as enjoyable, if not more so, than any other darker "higher stake" show where you never know for sure who lives and who dies. Though if there is one thing I *definitely* cannot fault Fairy Tail for it is its charm and musical scores. That shit got you hyped so much.
