*In the Battle of Waterloo, historians have "conveniently" distorted the reality of this battle. Wellington became increasingly popular and well-known, downplaying the action of the Prussian Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, whose participation was crucial to the victory against the Napoleonic army and the saving of Wellington from certain defeat.- They soldiered the 10,000 residents of Hanover, the 7,000 men from Braunschweig, the 6,000 men of the King's German Legion - Royal German Legion - and the 3,000 men from Nassau - they were not Chinese - REALLY THE VICTORY WAS GERMAN.*

I wonder how many casualties the first French infantry attack would have caused here, all sources speak of at least 3,000 French prisoners taken and another 2,000 wounded or dead, but what about the British?

Every time I see an explanation of Waterloo, I get sick to my stomach. Seeing from our advantage of looking back, we can see how out-numbered Napoleon was compared to the British and Prussian forces. It was a slaughter, it shouldn't have happened and it's all history. Hopefully we have learned from this?

When watching this it becomes really obvious that Ney was attempting to break Wellington's right so that the whole army could then turn and face both the prussians and the rest of the British, because its better that they be all coming from the front rather than Napoleons front and right. I sincerely doubt that massed charges like that were spurred by Ney being stupidly rash but rather the dire need for the army to have space to turn and face the flanking prussians.

It's a few minutes behind by as much as a full half hour slower to the same day account of movements, most done by the French as the British-Dutch-German coalition remained on site with minimal effort, Lord Wellington uncommitted to risk it all or any of it in the face of Napoleon wit on master counter maneuvers. And the odd proceeding of the Imperial Guard last charge without correcting the slight deviation left the front units took on their climb up the slope straying off the main road, which they corrected within 10 minutes of it noticed But following on this Time clock slightly behind, still let's do it, I had never been able to understand WHY WHY WHY WHY the French Cavalry attack after 15:20 hr. never had the much NEEDED SUPPORT from Infantry, even Light infantry to remove or at least to break the slope edge single front And by reverse stumbling twice, sending the Imperial Guard heavy infantry last attempt to remove Wellington of the Field into Brussels or off the slope and fighting down hill the way out, so the Germans could be deal with without being flanked by the hill.... without Cavalry support The first column and part of the second of Imperial Guards did make it over the ddangerous edge of the slope, the British units but one on that central spot did remain crouched off target, even having the advantage of the height (something that was much shameful in the full century earlier, so morale must have stung some on them in the face of the French hard veterans to scorn them) but on giving order to fire they caught the column on a hell of crossfire from both sides, and within 2 volleys the first Column lost between 60-70% of its Force to be any effective strike marching forward, also over the bodies of all those fallen in their way, slowing them further. The second column already up almost its full force saw this, and however receiving some casualties was going to push forward after the smoked wall cleared some, and in the foggy instant halted when they saw some of the surviving column retreating to join them and close ranks however the almost instant shell-shock they must have received.... But this alone caused those right below the edge to mistake it with a retreat to escape, and discipline broke as they turned down and marched down some breaking ranks. They had seen the first Germans arrive on the horizon as they climbed up, and feared these gaining their back, and be caught in a lethal pincer move. Napoleon was right, Wellington could still be broken in half and as the day ended neutralize the Germans below. If only the Chasseurs of the Guard would have continued deploying forward fast enough just a bit more, so the third column could have arrived and turn the firepower more balanced on their side.... else would have happened. The almost annihilation by crossed fire from two British units over both sides of the first Imperial Guard column over the top, not even shooting back in full force but while they were still marching to present battle (as they didn't see the not-standing Brit ranks over the fully grown grass to their sides) impressed confusion on those astride on the top 2nd column blocking a still larger and harder Force of 2 further regiment columns behind them, just on the slope. They never got to deploy face to face and get a slight chance to combat the British front line. Only when they were finally retreating was when the British were ordered to move forward to repel them, which actually never happened as it was a chasing down the hill. There was never a bayonet close quarters contact between the full Force of the Imperial Guard or just an equal line reached and the British lines hiding on the slope top. They never contested Might, firepower kept them at distance, fogged the French off the edge and some were massacred just by cannon point blank later. Twice the French could have won, and they had a Full Force lost elsewhere distracted in small and useless engagements off the Central Field. Communications in that Age was still a hit or miss unreliable mess that could make of unmake victories and make defeats without armies coming into contact

This was only the final stage of the battle. By this time, the French had already failed to gain the upper hand. It started earlier when Napoleon tried to drive a wedge between the Prussians and English, dealing with both armies separately. The Prussians didn't just suddenly arrive as shown here, they had broken contact with the enemy force, countering Napoleon's tactic, then the main body of their army broke away from an enemy force again to have a joined force with the British to oppose the main French attack. By the time this animation starts, the French had already played their card and lost.
