I loved this show when I was a kid and always wanted to hear the theme music longer, but they’d only play it for like 20 seconds or so before a commercial cut in for Empire Carpet or Celozzi-Ettleson or whatever else was popular in late 70s/early 80s Chicago. I’d forgotten about it until I recently came across this arrangement by Master Keyz and bought a copy. Hope you enjoy it.

Arr. Christian Fuchs Cool old Mississippi blues tune. This is mostly based on the Muddy Waters version. I know I made a couple errors screwing around with the timing, but the dog got all fired up and I figure catching that improves the overall entertainment value. A barking dog seems bluesy, even though howling would be better…

The theme song from Succession TV-drama makes me cry and feel goosebumps on my body. It’s fundamental, powerful and overwhelmingly beautiful piece of music, it embodies the core of the movie 🎶🎹🎞 You played it really well. The piano needs a bit of tuning though
Thank you. The piano is 110 years old and I tune every six months and don't want to pay for more than that. I post tunes anyway even if it's starting to drift. Maybe I just hit a wrong note too? I'm no pro.
@@rickrocketts183 , 100 y.o. piano sounds very special. I’ve never had such an experience. I play the piano a bit, after graduating from musical school🎹 . Probably it was the wrong note, right. What are your dogs’ favourite pieces? What do they say?🐕
@@EnglishInLifeWithKatewell, tough to say for sure but the white one definitely got fired up in At Last and Oh Happy Day. Probably a couple others too but I can’t recall exactly. Maybe Blueberry Hill she messed with my left hand in the beginning. Sometimes she wants a bunch of pets when I’m playing.
Amazing playing
Thank you!
I hope you named the doggo Mondale ;)
Haha, if only!
That’s so cool!
wow 🤍
The piano could do with some tuning. But great rendition!
Glad you liked it. And yes, it falls out of tune. The piano was built in 1915 and I pay for a tuning every 6 months. Since I play it continuously, some notes start to stick out near the next tuning.
This was wholesome. Love the dog intro. Perfect 🥳 Wonderfully played. I need to get sheet music now 😂
Thank you! I got the arrangement from Katherine Cordova. The full arrangement is a suite with 4 pieces, and she plays them all in one take, no obvious errors. Pretty impressive, you may want to see it.
@@rickrocketts183 thank you, sir! :)
So cool!!! And brilliantly played. Awesome 😎🤩
And so funny how your white dog barks at then end 🙂
I know! She gets all fired up sometimes.
I didn't find a version more powerful!! Could hear it over and over again. (And love to see the dog's reaction, too ;))
Hey thanks, that’s a great compliment. The white dog acts up in a bunch of my videos. The other dog sleeps. Check out Oh Happy Day as an example.
@@rickrocketts183 You're welcome. And thanks, I'll check it out!
Bravo, sir! Sounds great! That’s what I am working on and can’t wait to be able to play the whole piece.
Thank you! Are you working on this same arrangement by Katherine Cordova or another one?
That…uhhhh…that is…uhh… that is a good…uhhh…boy
Good stuff👍🏻
Well played and fairly close to Bill's recording on "California here I come". For my taste, you could play the middle section a little bit less jagged and with a more elastic swing.
Thanks! I listened to a few recordings but didn’t realize that the arrangement i have is pretty faithful to the one you just pointed out. I just figured the arranger wrote a solo inspired by Evans. So i see what you mean, he def played it more laid back. I was just interpreting notes on the page and trying to make the whole thing flow from straight to swing back to straight and played it a lot of ways until i generally settled on that way. I’d say I would have approached it differently if I’d heard that recording first though.
👏👏👏

Congratulations!
Wow, very well done!!!!
Thanks!
Some serious talent Very glad the algorithm brought me here
Hey thanks, that’s super nice of you to say.
Just amazing. I bet family night is amazing with dad at the piano
I appreciate your kind words.
Very well done! 👏🏻
Thanks! See you next week.
Well done!
Thanks! It’s a great tune.
Nice!
Thanks!
Magnificent playing ❤
WOW🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey thanks!
Can i ask when did you start to learn piano 😊
About 40 years ago i took classical lessons for 10 years, then played only sporadically then next 10, then almost zero until early 2022 when i noticed how many great blues and jazz teachers are on youtube. So since then i probably play an average of 2 hours day focused mainly on learning how to improvise while always keeping a few tunes i’m learning in rotation. How about you? Do you play?
Excellent!!!
thats great
Thanks!
*el perro lo traiciona*
Si, pero ella es una perro muy buena.
I’ve been practicing this for three months, hopefully I’ll get to where you’re at lovely cover❤️
It definitely took a lot of practice. The toughest part for me was the large leaps with the left hand. Usually I don’t look at my hands reading music, but i found i that part to be difficult enough i actually had to memorize it so i could look at my hands to accurately make those leaps. You’ll get there!
Love it
Nice playing, but I’m here for the doggies ! And thanks for crediting Beethoven- there’s more than one of his themes in the other series variations !
Thanks! I’ve got a few other tunes where the dogs act up. I’ll have to look up where the other Beethoven themes show up.
@@rickrocketts183 Great playing- I am learning this one! How do Beethoven's themes factor in? Curious to know!
@@saumyabhargava2854 Thank you! Are you doing the same Katherine Cordova arrangement? For the Beethoven reference, listen to about the last 90 seconds (depending on the speed of the performer) of the first movement of Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata and you'll hear it in there. Nearly identical. I actually recommend listening to the whole sonata. I learned it as kid and have probably played it a few hundred times. One of my favorites.
@@rickrocketts183 Oh I see! Very cool. I am not sure if I am playing that arrangement specifically, where did you find the music sheet?
you played it better then me and also better then the guy who wrote it/stole it from beethoven 😝
Thank you! It is weird he didn’t get more grief for stealing like 1/3 of the tune
@@rickrocketts183 Yep true. But he did make a new piece which is maybe less complex but enjoyable as well and he made me discover the Beethoven piece. He also made me enjoy your version. So All in all we arent loosing here 😄

Beautiful atmosphere ❤
Thank you! Having dogs helps.
Impressive!!
Thanks!
Super! Well done!
Thank you!
great!
The doggy 😂
I was waiting for the other dog to join in on the second take...
How long did it take you to learn Misty
It’s always more like how many times did I play it than how long, but usually takes 2-4 weeks to get a piece I’d say. Are you thinking of working on that one?
Where did you get the sheet music lol
Christian Fuchs. He has an excellent CZcams channel of this kind of stuff. I try to remember to always credit the arranger in the description and hopefully don’t forget
incredible
Thank you!
Full on attack! Great job, I really liked that.
Thanks! Yeah nothing subtle about that one
Great job!:)
Thank you!
wow, it’s like a warm hug 🫂
Wow that’s a cool way to put it
the vibe, the fire, the piano, you playing is really beautiful! well done!
Thank you! If you look at the bottom of the screen, one of the dogs has their tail in the frame too, but she didn’t go lay on the bed. That would have improved the vibe a little more too!
love this. love the atmosphere. love the vibe. instant new subscriber :)
Hey thanks! Very kind of you to say.
🔥
absolutely beautiful. Im listening to this on repeat . Im so glad I came across this work of art . Bravo!!
Thank you, that is about the nicest thing you could say.
good job dude! I really admire you ;)
Appreciate that!
Very beautiful! I always thought about Misty as a cold song and the warmth of the fireplace paired nicely with the melody. Found the channel because of this version. Merry Christmas!
Thanks Pedro, I thought the same thing! I appreciate your kind words. I plan to post two or three Christmas tunes in the coming weeks, time-permitting.
