What is Pervious Concrete? | Silvi hosts a pervious seminar for its customers
Silvi Concrete hosted a seminar as part of the NRMCA's Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification Program. Participants included Silvi's customers, in-house QC technicians, and sales representatives, all of whom achieved certification as Pervious Concrete Technicians, the first level of certification.
But what exactly is pervious concrete?
"Pervious concrete is concrete that does not contain fine aggregate. It typically has a voids content of 15% to 35%. This ensures that the concrete has the unique ability to allow storm water to pass through its mass into the ground underneath. Pervious concrete offers significant environmental benefits as it reduces the requirement for drainage facilities. Further it facilitates the recharge of ground water and the filtration process purifies the water as it percolates below." (nrmca.org)
The seminar aimed to ensure that Silvi's customers and QC technicians are qualified to place, compact, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect pervious concrete pavements, a pavement option growing in demand across the Northeast.

My question is why wouldn't a construction firm with many cba's tied to various labor unions hire a signatory teamster concrete outfit...nothing against silvi their concrete is great i've used it many times. However anderson or jdm could have maned that pour with union drivers.
Original concrete contractor shit the bed and didn’t have adequate material to supply the mat pour so silvi was brought in a couple weeks before the pour to do it. As part of the agreement, carney agreed to boot the other concrete supplier entirely and give silvi the whole project. Once the mat was done, carney reneged on the agreement. Silvi ultimately won a $1.3 million dollar verdict for wrongful termination.
The numbers: 585 truck loads at roughly $220 delivery charge= $128,700.00 (most likely they didn't pay Silvi that much on delivery) 5850 cubic yards of concrete with high amount of SuperP. maybe 4000 PSI mix:?? That would equate to about $150 a cubic yard 2017 pricing That's about $877,500.00 in concrete $128,700.00 + $877,500.00 + $80,496.00 ( 8 per freaking cent Philadelphia sales tax) = $1,086,696.00 total in concrete cost. That's over a million dollars in concrete over a weekend. And that's without weekend plant opening charges and overtime... I would expect that top management had a very nice vacation the following week. Well deserved. Silvi people are good people. Toby Rich is one of a kind.
