11:30 i found that to be my biggest and really only complaint with the game. The equipment sucked imo. I am a person who likes to knock out all available side quests in my gameplay because I’m always afraid if i progress the main story i may lose the chance to do quests and i ending up getting swords and armor with damage higher than the next story unlockable weapon or armor and it made it pointless to even craft/buy them except for equipping to see the design because they were already obsolete. I absolutely loved how they went about it in Remake. I loved that certain weapons could give you a boost in certain stats so there was actually a reason to equip them. My biggest letdown of Rebirth was how they changed the weapons upgrades. I’m just not good enough to beat all the Hardcore combat sim battles to unlock all the Manuscripts so that i can have my weapons damage and materia slots maxed out, and not for lack of trying. Also didnt care for how pointless magic was. There were no specific enemy weakness to different kinds of magic which would have been cool but it is what it is. I still love this game and give it high marks on everything else, especially story.

I remembered playing this in the early 2000s and my max was like in the 40s. This and the FFX lightning strike dodge and Lufia 2 level 99 dungeon quest that takes hours each time and start over if you die is for the diehards.

Soooo, just to clarify and please, correct me if I'm wrong: 1. Bringing back Aerith this way means, that you can't have Yuffie in your party until after City of the Ancients. So she won't be available for the Gold Saucer scene. Are there more scenes with Yuffie that also won't be available? I can't remember. 2. Despite Aerith breaking the 4 scenes mentioned, she CAN fight and beat Diamond Weapon, but then you have to reset and do the fight again to not have the game softlock, right? 3. Have you tested if Aerith creates problems if you bring her back immediately after she leaves the party to make her way alone?

the reason they programmed snow not to kill you in the glacier is very simple basic gamedesign - you would have to spent a fckn ton of time to get back to her because of the stupid wind mechanic and absense of the map in this area

A friend recently sent me a video of someone warping straight to the HoF in Pokemon Yellow. I'm not surprised one bit that someone found out this is possible. Someone send this to Sakaguchi. "It's weird triangle makes the ship go." Funny you say that, because the japanese version has inverted controls. Triangle = menu/enter ship, Square = jump/accelerate ship, Circle = confirm, X = cancel. Also in battle you have Square for 1 AP attack, Triangle for 2 AP and Circle for 3 AP (X cancels). I think the buttons were all swapped around probably due to that trend of "we need to have X be 'confirm' in the west because yes". I for one, playing on emulator, always used a patch that restores the japanese inputs. They just feel better to me.

concerning cait sith, if i rewrote the game, the moogle would be a living creature seperate from the cat robot controlled by reeves. and the moogle would be the one to sacrifice himself. reeves would then have a pang of conscience and rejoin the party. then cait sith's sacrifice actually bears weight. but i think in the original game, its pretty much just reeves being a a very lonely, emotionally unadjusted japanese salary man larping very seriously and having a change of heart doing his "sacrifice" because he feels so guilty for betraying his only real friends.

Regarding Xenogears' music, Flight is perhaps my favorite in the game, while the airship theme is certainly great as well.

So for any other absolute losers out there like me. I was able to successfully yuffie warp on IOS (iPhone) version. However without a game controller I cannot walk out of midgar gate and talk to barret at the same time. I do think it would be possible to do this on IOS with game controller though. Might just buy steam version to live out this thrill. Thanks for the sweet video to creator.

The ps3 was a horrible console. I tried to marginally improve load times back in the day by switching the 5400 rpm hard disk to a 7200 rpm one. Too bad they didn't properly support ssd and trim commands because that would improve it a lot.
