I like it. Modern but understandable. Good music. Just wish it was tad faster. Good performers. Fine sound. Definitely have to find out more about this composer. She is unknown to me

Agreed . Having heard the first Concerto Grosso about 5,000 times in the past 50 years its very refreshing to hear this excellent second Concerto Grosso. Fine recording of a fine work and fine performance. Oh, i like this one a lot. All Orchestra. No piano.

An important piece of music. I can't stop listening to this ! Romantic Grandiose.! Play this as yhe last work in a Vhamber Recital and you'll bring the House down. Extraordinary.

Now I know where composer Miklos Rozsa got his musical inspiration --sounds so similar to the soundtrack of the 1945 movie Spellbound with Ingrid Bergman & Gregory Peck. Everyone gets ideas from other great artists yes?

Can anyone else here say that Arensky definitely studied Tchaikovsky? Because this piece definitely sounds like Tchaikovsky! As a matter of fact, the one beginning motif sounds like the beginning of Francesca da Rimini.

The idea that this piece could be the inspiration for Vinteuil's sonata in "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu" is very appealing, but I can't believe that Proust would have had just one model in mind: like the writer Bergotte and the painter Elstir, Vinteuil is probably a composite creation, suggested by several originals. Whatever the truth of the matter, this sonata is a remarkable and attractive piece of music, which deserves to be much better known.

Delightful and uplifting, as a Divertimento should be. Thanks for sharing.

I recorded this off a record on to tape back in 1982, play it now and then because I enjoy the music. Not as well known as Tchaikovsky. I remember the record was recorded in Russia.

Murky, meandering and rather dull.

The organ sounds a bit too far away but can still be heard above the rustle of the orchestra. The classic recording of the Jongen is by Virgil Fox on the now long gone Palace de Chailott organ in France with Georges-Petre, conductor, which has much better sound in my humble opinion having seen Fox live playing his own transcription of the 4th movement toccata for solo organ (electronic Rogers organ as it was also then) in the 1970's. Olivier Latry has an excellent recording of the complete work also that was recently released, I think, about 4 years ago. ⛪🎹🎵🎶

The music flows seamlessly from one subject to the next. Beautifully performed here by Ms Ortiz, who has a wonderful understanding of all of this composers' 5 concertos.

I've worked out why Joseph Holbrooke spent most of his life complaining about why his music was never played. The answer is very simple. It wasn't very good. This quartet really doesn't cut the mustard does it. Dull, and with little invention.

I love this piece. I performed it at a high school concert 55 years ago, when I was 14. It's such a conversational/contrapuntal thing, just gorgeous. I'm glad I found it and thanks for posting.
