Five years is a long time if you ride your bike at all. You should wipe the chain before applying lube. Apply and work in and then wipe off all the excess to keep from attracting dirt

haha yes it burns but you should feel the relief within 12 Hr. if the burn bothers you i would recommend voltaren does the job aswell !
