I found this CD in the early nineties. It was in the cutout bin in a Record Exchange in the Cleveland area. It has extensive liner notes in the CD
booklet and their list of influences caught my attention and what sealed the deal was the fact that their fan club was named after one of my
favorite books.
Even before the the first track was one minute in, I knew this was going to be an awesome CD. Unlike most of the other CDs I've bought from
the cutout bin, this one was never far from my CD player. I can honestly say that this album is one of my top 10 of all time.
I would describe the sound as a cross between Mick Taylor era Stones and Pleased To Meet Me Era Replacements with some Dwight Yoakam
and Jason And The Scorchers Thrown into the mix.
With the start of the digital age, I have always had it on my MP3 Players.
The funny thing is, I have absolutely no information on this band beyond the information in the CD booklet. I have done extensive searches
on the internet and have turned up absolutely nothing. I would love to know if they released anything else or just let them know that they
recorded one of the best albums of the 90's.
I will be posting a few tracks on my channel and I hope no one associated with the band or CD minds. Most importantly, if anyone has any
information about them please leave a comment in the comments section. I've been curious for about thirty years now.

The Pink Holes-The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Once upon a time in the 80's, a group of angry young Pink Holes taught Cleveland how to smile again. They set the standards, the trends and fashions. They brought hope to a people in dire need of heroes. Given the right connections, better timing, more dedication and way more talent they could have easily been America's answer to Chilliwack. PINK HOLES RULE!

If they released anything else? How long were they together for? Did they do much touring? Are any of them still in the music industry? Most importantly, how are they doin', they doing okay?

… I caught a train, I met a dame She was a hipster and a real gone dame She was pretty, from New York City And we trucked on down that old fair lane With a heave and a ho Well, I just couldn't let her go … Get along, creepy little woman Get along, well, be on your way Get along, creepy little woman Get along, well, be on your way With a heave and a ho Well, I just couldn't let her go … Well, the train kept a-rollin' all night long The train kept a-rollin' all night long The train kept a-movin' all night long The train kept a-rollin' all night long With a heave and a ho Well, I just couldn't let her go Aw … We made a stop in Albuquerque She must've thought that I was a real gone jerk We got off the train at El Paso Our lovin' was so good, Jack, I couldn't let her go Get along Well, I just couldn't let her go … Get along, creepy little woman Get along, well, be on your way Get along, creepy little woman Get along, well, be on your way With a heave and a ho Well, I just couldn't let her go … Well, the train kept a-rollin' all night long The train kept a-rollin' all night long The train kept a-rollin' all night long The train kept a-rollin' all night long With a heave and a ho Well, I just couldn't let her go-oh-oh-oh-oh-o
Wonderful photos! ... & Videos of John ! Thankyou !
Heard this song in a movie and i had to find it, can't imagine i'm hearing it for the first time today. Such a beautiful song
John was a musicians musician and a friend's friend. I've heard many great folks do wonderful justice to this moving old song but John's version is mighty hard to beat. Love it!!!! I'm 79 yrs old abd feel very fortunate to have lived in a time with sooo many great musicians. I remember loving Bill Moore in 1948. I've been a bluegrasser all my life. I miss John and all the other greats. I often get choked up listening to their music. So many have taken leave from this old world. Thank you for posting your musis. I'm listening and enjoying. Kt
So different from Aerosmith's version, but still pretty cool.
I met Mr. Hartford briefly, not long before his health failed. In the moment, I was struck by his humility and still strong presence as a gifted human being. I am moved greatly by his music, his scholarship and his courtesy as he approached the end with dignity. RIP, I love your work.
Lovely
Better than Elvis.
Hell yeah ! But my grandma liked Elvis , Johnny would have scared her .
Johnny Burnette es el paradigma del rockabilly
I can hardly believe it's 35 years since I bought 'Spike'. This video is superb 👍
This song always reminds me of the book Jubilee. Great song and great book.
I have to say this little gem got by me ....thanks for posting....Love It!!
Reading Lonesome Dove and this song is mentioned. Thanks for posting!
this video alone is proof Paul did NOT play the solo on the record. He fingers it completely different and misses a lot of notes that he would not miss if he "wrote it"
They’re not playing Train in the video, it’s a totally different song.
The video is actually the Trío on the Ted Mack talent show..playing Hound Dog.
Pawn star brought me here
A rockabilly classic!
Classic stuff ! Before punk ! These boys invited punk !
Absolute vulgarity. What's this world coming too. 😢😢
this is some punk shit
Johnny Bennett😊🎉 ich höre sein Music seit 38 Jahren einfach nur cool😊🎉🎉🎉
First punk rock song?
Es el padre de Rocky Burnette?
Миллион раз слушал но ниразу не видел).
This song was banned by both the North & South due to many men deserting .
Lol.. how does this ONLY have 237K views?! This was awesome 👌
This is superb! " Rockabilly-Punk"! Awsome!!!
1956..didnt get much radio time..most disjockies not willing to play..kinda raw for 1956..too many sexual overtones..but would be mild today..But most of the early rockers couldn't put it down..and still powerful..
All these comments and not one about the B&O EA locomotive. One of the coolest ever !! Of course, Betty and the tune are pretty cool, too!
Getitol. ?? now Viagra
Absolutely
YES
Scares me
The video looks like a David Lynch production..
This was the first song Led Zeppelin played together in the studio..
Grady Martin!
Love it. Love it so much. I'm a real gone daddy-o, man!
This is why Rock and Roll was so feared by so many when it happened ...Great !
The guitarist is playing a tele AND using a thumb pick and finger picks!!!!
Thank you John for everything
