Austin thinks he is pro 2A by virtue of his gun ownership and experiences in his youth hunting, but practically, he's very much anti 2A since all of the legislative proposals he advocates for in his book are in alignment with the anti gun liberal mainstream. Hunting and shooting sports are only positive additives / byproducts of what the 2A is actually for-a check against tyranny. A passive approach on this topic is convenient since those who are morally opposed to violence are protected by those who are not. Regarding Austin's insistence on red flags laws, he should know that they essentially provide a faster way for the government to seizes someone's personal property with a much lower burden of proof than our legal system usually requires. Red flag laws are statistically proven to be ineffective at lowering gun violence in any manner. For example, Colorado's own red flag law failed to stop the club Q shooter even though the shooter had been previously arrested for bomb threats. Red flag laws sidestep the presumption of innocence principle which has a negative impact on law abiding citizens. The long term consequences of cutting the corners of due process is just how you infringe on the sovereignty of the individual and grant more power to the state. If Austin was actually pro 2A, then he might advocate for teaching people how to properly and safely use a firearm instead of advocating for the mandated storage of someone's personal property. Respectfully, this is the equivalent of an HOA mandating that its residents can't park their cars in their own driveway. It's just silly. If the seminary wants to have an honest conversation about gun violence, then it should get someone who is actually pro 2A on the podcast next. If you want to curb gun violence in schools and churches then invest in hardening their security with armed and trained professionals. If you want to curb gun violence in inner cities, where most of the gun violence actually happens beyond suicide, then teach gun safety and do the hard work of creating a culture that values strong, faithful, and present fathers.

What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. New Covenant Whole Gospel: Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. Like most apologists, this man distorts and misinforms us about what scripture teaches. He does not address the major issue of god;s command to utterly destroy every infant/suckling in Canaan. I wonder how Blomberg views Ben Witherington's theories about John. Witherington thinks John was compiled by the elder John (not the son of Zebedee) based on eyewitness recollections from a Judean disciple (the 'Beloved disciple') who knew Jesus from his visits to Jerusalem. He thinks this may have been Lazarus, interestingly. Witherington gives examples of puzzling details that this would explain and partly explains the John-Synoptic differences in terms of Jesus taking a different rhetorical approach when in Jerusalem and addressing a different audience. His main thesis is that the Gospel of John uses the style of Jewish wisdom literature. See his commentary entitled John's Wisdom.

did we create religion? did we invent the stories? how can you prove something invisible, based on faith, miracles, things from 2000 years, with "points" and "logic"? Oh and by the way--under the threat of eternal damnation--for questioning it? LOL! That isn't a conversation--that is a threat. I won't deny this: the laws, the guidelines, the teachings of Jesus--the Golden Rule. These are all true things--wisdom. But did we already have them inside? Inside us? The lifestyle advice--also stands up--love it or hate it. But, is all this not the invention of mankind--searching for a way to live? IDK. Nobody really knows. As we learn about our own psychology--we learn, we are capable of creating and inventing amazing detail of bologna. Just examine the Marvel Universe--all fiction (sometimes bases on truth bits). But--there is a plethora of detail and minutia--and all of is quite often, with some degree of logic. Now--give the fans 1000 years to edit those details? And you'll have a more believable MCU bible and theology. When or if you actually read the bible--one is struck by it's wisdom. Yes--this is a very important book. It has vital info for us. It matters--but, does that mean it is all true? Can fiction have value? Can tales have wisdom? Does fiction offer a lesson? Yes. The next leap--is --is this book divine? The compelling evidence is feelings, and emotion and being caught up in the power of these bible stories. <---is that impact causing people to shut off their logic? They basically are reading a really good book--and are convinced it is true. Because feelings. we know in our hearts what is right. we know that it is wrong to steal or cheat. this inner guidance--could also guide our myth and theology building over time.

I struggle at times to explain my difficult to understand reactions to stress that c-ptsd from childhood abuse, endangerment caused by violence and extensive drug traffic and abuse in my family home. I have experienced abuse and neglect, homelessness, non sexual and sexual violence against my person, homelessness due to a complete personal breakdown without support, without family and desolate in my shame and inability to cope due to the broken and bitterness of my tortured and troubled soul. Even I struggle to understand, struggle to heal and move on to a more functional life, a life worth living. Thank you for this. I hope more Christian laymen and counselors grapple with their fellow brother and sisters who sojourn in this life with these inner pain and trial. What a blessing that is and could be when realized in the context of the gospel.
