Training in Antimicrobial Resistance: Gaps and Opportunities
Antimicrobial resistance is a priority public health problem with complex roots and connotations. However, due to a lack of focus on this topic, research training programs, specifically those focused on AMR are limited. Additionally, scientific meetings that particularly highlight the science of antimicrobial resistance are scarce. We recently published a commentary that evaluates the state-of-the-art of the training programs in AMR in the US. Today, we will discuss this topic with the leading author and discussed the issue with leaders in the field. Welcome to the editors in conversation.
Objectives:
• Understand the challenges that training in AMR poses and how to approach them.
• Review the current status of training programs in the USA
• Elaborate on specific strategies that could improve the access and dissemination of AMR research
Guests:
William M Shafer, PhD, Professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology; Director Antimicrobial Resistance and Therapeutic Discovery Training Program.
Lee H. Harrison, M.D. Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology, Associate chief of epidemiology and education Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Director University of Pittsburgh Antimicrobial Resistance T32 Program
This episode of Editors in Conversation is brought to you by the Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy Journal and hosted by AAC Editor in Chief, Cesar Arias.

Gamers Help Analyze Microbiome Data - Microbial Minutes

Are video games the future of microbiome analyses? Some scientists think so. Researchers integrated a mini game into the commercially successful video game, Borderlands 3, in which gamers solve puzzles and, in doing so, help analyze sequencing data of gut bacteria. Since its release, 4 million players have solved 135 million puzzles in the mini game, known as Borderlands Science. Researchers us...

I’ll gladly recommend #DrApala to you all for any STI Medication. I finally got rid of STI with the help of this doctor. Thank you #DrApala, if the world has more people like you, it will definitely be a better place, keep saving lives sir..........
You must be joking.
why do you think it's a joke? 🧐
Thank you. This is so relevant.
Add Ohio because my mom has this currently.
Interesting and useful video

She didn't answer the question of the effect of psilocin on psychosis.
Keep it
Fui picada recientemente, en mi apartamento por un insecto de éstos y tengo gripe y malestares de estomago, náuseas y estrenimiento. Estoy buscando información porque no sé qué hacer.
Covid targets mitochondria and the gut microbiome in a lot of people. Healing the mitochondria with the supplement called Researched Nutritionals NT Factor Energy and boosting the good bacteria in the gut are essential. Vitamin C 3x a day. Make sure Vitamin D levels are normal in addition to B12 levels, and ferritin. Keep blood sugar balanced by cutting out processed foods and eating a whole food diet (paleo or keto). I've finally recovered after a year and a half of long covid by implementing these strategies with the help of the brilliant Dr. Maggie Yu.
Animals are afraid of water?🤔
These “advices for protection” makes me so mad and sad, because I thought I was safe when I followed these rules, but I was NOT! I got Borrelia in my nervous system because a tick full of blood dropped from a cat or bird or mouse down in a pile of dead leaves on my terrace outside my house in my little garden, I live in a city, and I put my hands and arms in this pile and took it away. And not until after I got very ill, I read that after a tick has filled herself with blood from a victim, it let go, drop down, and soon it lays 3-4000 EGGS, and when these hatches soon after, they go nowhere, but wait until someone walked into it! So PLEASE do NOT give these “advices”, but tell the truth so people can decide for themselves if they will take that risk or not - and if they do, they have a better understanding of how important it is to check the body every day- and the most effective way: To take of clothes outside and put them in a dryer on full heat for 15 -30 minutes. Take care everyone, be happy but be wise also.
HUGE CLICKBAIT. YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WE AIN'T LOOKING 4THAT
Amazing. A clinical microbiologists playground
This is an excellent and much needed presentation especially in this era of post-COVID-19 syndromes which may be related to short-term SARS-CoV-2 stunning of the immune system.
Good to hear, very interesting.

This is going round my school right now 😢❤
That's amazing we appreciate 🙏
Are good bacteria or bad bacteria complicit or both? If so the more biodiverse your gut bacteria is, could potentially increase the probability of having that specific bacteria or groups of bacteria that interfere with the drugs prior to being absorbed. What do you think?
very interesting.
What were the decades of mrna in humans? I understand the animals but he didnt provide a human example.
You don’t have to b informed about everything , start you own reaserch. Google my help.
First clinical trials in humans 2008, fda approved in 2013. Development of covid19 vaccine was so fast because they were already working on it for SARS, another corona virus like covid19
Interesting and Important
I love this! Working with AST testing for years, I'm happy to see some promising developments in reducing turn around time! One of our biggest complaints from clinicians is how long the test takes and the short stability period of microbiology specimens. I would be interested to see if this could be implemented in the physician offices that usually send to reference labs. With the quick TAT, you could prescribe patients the most effective antibiotics same day.
Evil people
Very interesting and innovative method!

thank you i needed this for my class at #BRCC #BatonRougeCommunityCollege in microbiology we used it for a lab
My dad was a microbiologist for the ADPH for about 25 years. Opossums, bats and raccoons were the most common positive animals he would see. He would test dogs pretty often for rabies after they’d been put down for biting someone, sometimes even puppies. People can be impulsive and reckless
That’s scary 😱
This is why I cringe when I see videos where people interact with wildlife that have a high incidence of rabies. They are totally clueless and don't have any idea of how deadly and contagious it is.
Omg that’s the most terrifying thing.
A young guy died here in British Columbia Canada a few years ago.He was camping and a bat must have just grazed his exposed hand.I live in the forest and used to like to sit out at night but now Im just parsnoid about it.

Jesus Christ loves you! God bless you
All this science, study, and development, but humans are still fighting each other, unfortunately.. I am sad about this
Some dog bit me for some unknow reason in Britain, the owner was scared.I let it go.But that is the first sign.We dont have it here
You can't believe a thing the CDC says they're blatant Liars I live in Oregon I have Lyme disease and I have babesia Duncani
What eXactly is hantavirus, if I may ask please
It should be renamed Nocardia equi.
My college dorms have had bats in them… scary shit
Dogs get vaxed. People get vaxed for it too, regularly and preventatively when bitten.
While it’s practiced as a precaution my vet admitted that they have no clue if it’s actually effective. Same thing was said when my sister was recommended to get the shots after a muskrat bit her. Big pharma for the win
Didin see nuffin
That's interesting.
