Yakety Yak Half Moon Theatre, London 1982 - starring Darts and The McGann Brothers
I'm delighted to present previously unseen Video footage of Darts and the McGann Brothers starring in the hit musical Yakety Yak, which featured the songs of legendary song writers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The show debuted at the Half Moon Theatre in London in November 1982 before transferring to the much larger Astoria Theatre in January 1983. Following from this was a provincial tour of the UK however without the McGann Brothers if I remember well. I saw the show at the Astoria on the 2nd April 1983 and then at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on the 26th August 1983 where Rita gave me a copy of the single 'Lorraine'!! Wonderful memories and such a pleasure to meet such truly genuine people.

A blast from over 40 years ago. Everything Darts were, and in fact still are, is embodied in this gig. Brilliant.
Darts 'HP7 Blues' - Half Moon, Putney, December 11th 1983
zhlédnutí 83Před 5 měsíci
Not great sound quality but a terrific song written by saxophonist, Horace Trubridge. A song about battery problems (HP7 now known as AA). I will try to obtain the lyrics. I may upload the whole gig as in spite of the poor sound, it is a great show with the band in fine form. LYRIC UPDATE We have the chorus for now! ‘I ain’t got no batteries for my radio And I’m gonna miss all the tunes on the ...

Following his departure from Darts in late 1980, Bob released a couple of singles on the Magnet label. The first, 'No Chance' was released in 1981, followed by 'Hotel' in 1982. A third single 'First Snow' was released in 1983 on the Stiff label but this was under the pseudonym of 'Robert Sleigh' and was a cooperation between Bob and former Darts guitarist Rob Davis (ex Mud). Sadly Bob passed aw...

Filmed at Alton Towers in the spring of 1980, this was the bands last top 10 hit. A BBC strike took TOTP off the air for several weeks which probably cost the number a few places in the charts. This track was supposed to feature on the unreleased 'Frantic Antics' album which was eventually replaced by the MAG 5037 'Greatest Hits' offering.

Charlie Gillett's radio show allowed Darts to showcase their talents at the beginning of the band's career. The Griff Fender penned 'Sometime Lately' featured on Charlie's 'Honkey Tonk Demo's' or 'Tapes' album - an alternative version to the one featured on their first album on Magnet, 'Darts'. This clip features cine footage taken on the day by Griff's father. If you see yourself and remember ...

This track from 1981 was recorded by Darts as part of the deal involving a tour of Japan. If the mixing desk operator listened to this afterwards, I am sure that he or she made the correct decision to follow an alternative career path. Most of the band's Japanese releases were on the Discomate Label. The vinyl album 'Doowop Darts' (DSP-8005) was released with two different sleeves due to the de...

Saw them Live couple of times back in the seventies brilliant group
One eye on her thighs just sends shivers down my spine and I can not keep my tongue in😂🕺
I saw Darts in Birmingham in a venue on Smallbrook Queensway in 1981. I have no idea what the venue was called though. However I do remember that it was a fantastic fun evening!
Ah beautiful Rita 😂
Saw them live once, many yrs ago. They were a great band.
What a fantastic band. Will we ever see the likes again?
an excellent song it was my birthday that year i was 4 years old back then.....................
Bob Fish could certainly hold a tune, man I hate being old 😢
I just love how confident everyone one is regardless of who is centre stage. They all get there turn, just brilliant 😊
Great tune. I could picture Bryan Ferry and latter-era Roxy Music performing this
The saddest thing is that the talentless, and frequently paedophilic, BBC presenters back then are still remembered more than the performers that we sang to, danced to and grew up with. That's Aunty BEEB I suppose. If only they didn't charge us all for the privilege.
Hold a tune 😢
Manhattan Transfer also appeared on this episode... Three years later they had a top ten US hit with their version of this song.
I woke up this morning to the sound of raindrops hitting my window, and for some reason this intro came straight into my head. No idea why. I thought it was from a Motown track, but on Googling it I found it was Darts! Ah, the vagaries of the human memory!
Seeing them next Saturday seen them first in Sunderland back in the early 80s
Haven't heard this for years, fantastic
The guy in the silver suit made the group😊
He was deffo the best singer in this group
Is the guitarist from Mud? Looks a bit like him at about 1.35 and after...
Brilliant,I never saw this back in the day
Rita Ray, gorgeous.
2024 and still listening these songs. That means they must be good. And they are!
2024, still listening Darts.
Such a great group. Beautiful vocals.
Yes, wonderful performance from Darts.
2024 still listening this great song.
Great song from Darts, once again.
Reminds me of the 1978 World Cup and a few other things I'd sooner forget!
Hate to correct simon bates little Richard might have been doing a version Jackie Wilson did the original
Can't get enough of this song
Yo compre sus grandes éxitos en los 80's, yo no conocía el grupo y cuando empecé a escucharlos me encantaron.
Bob Fish.❤❤❤xxxxx
Bob Fish ❤ xxx
We saw them at the Civic in Wolverhampton-wonderful night
Just learnt about this man thanks to Brendan Kavanagh, doctor K, like many other viewers here. One umpteenth prodigious, yet probably tormented musician. Thanks doctor K.
Their original songs and their cover versions all sounds like their own material
Awsome, Rita is soooooo sexy
Oh wow, I Loved and Love them! Thank you for sharing the video. 1978 rules!
New member who replaced dan hergerty fitted in nicely
Absolute masterpiece
Bluestastic!
Spotted Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie - is this the Mallory Park Radio 1 Fun Day 30th July?
Loved Bob Fish. ❤❤
