Palestrina’s sublime music conveys a feeling for the transcendent. A truly beautiful performance of a piece depicting the soul’s longing for God
And he was fired from the Pope, totally ignorant of music, and probably of others too.
!!!!!!Bellísimo
Such a fantastic tempo. My teacher, the late Carmen-Helena Téllez (who taught at IU for decades), always said, "tempo is affect." The deer is pining for the stream, as the soul is yearning for the Holy One. This tempo, IMHO, depicts that. It's become fashionable to speed this motet up, with the justification that the divisions of the breves would have meant a faster tempo back in the day. Who cares. Bravi!
Sublime 🧡
i remember this song from high school 😭😭😭makes me wanna cry.
Nadzwyczaj delikatne wykonanie. Dziękuję ☺️
The melodic line, never lost, muted but not lost
Amazing, beautiful, thank you
It's absolutely sublime!

Why the natural in the tenor part at 2:54? Did you not notice, or could you not correct it?
some scores have it written that way. It's one of those pieces where I believe it can be done either way
♥️
great version.... sung at a slower than standard tempo but wonderful.... love it... Congrats....
Incrível!!
Beautiful voices...good balance, blend, diction with good attention to dynamics. Just need to control the vibrato in some places; otherwise, an 'excellent' performance.
Im just doing a little research how this song plays and ran into this, ill be performing it with my Highschool Choir and cant wait to live up to this quality!
Kitoko makasi ! Una linda interpretación, muchas gracias.
One of my favourite pieces of choral music. Simply wonderful.
Utterly sublime! Beautifully paced, with sensitive, secure conducting. Thank you.
Yeah. A secured conducting indeed
Lovely
Having sung with Rutter and chamber groups for 35+ years, this interpretation is flawless. The voicing is magnificently well balanced. Thanks for not rushing tough it and letting each word melt into the other without sounding sloppy. Bravo!!
Very nice if you like this check out 1991 augsburger domsingknaben version it has a nice bouncy sound
Thanks
2:09 the organ part sneaks in a bit from the "Cat Jeoffrey" section of Britten's famous cantata, Rejoice in the Lamb.
Beautiful...wish more organ was used on the last verse would have been more climatic...
Britten wrote this pieces at the request of the late Duke in 1961. It was composed specifically for St George's Chapel, where the Duke's funeral service was held.
🗣️🎶❤️
Prince Phillip funeral brought me here. What a beautiful song. I'm glad he chose this song to be part of his funeral. He had good taste and the choir executed superbly.
Me too
He commissioned this hymn too. Very noble chap.
Me too!
Same
All of the music and readings were amazing! Am checking them out now myself.
Good times!
Very good the “incipit”, where each section enters the mood of this fantastic composition with a very “discreet” and quiet approach, to my opinion what was in Palestrina’s mind...
Very Perfect.Thank you!!
Bellissima interpretazione, eterea, ariosa... grazie!
Perfect
I think you've got the right tempo: not too fast nor too slow; the voices are very good, and the most important, they have good breath control, which is difficult to achieve in these works. The intensity of the composition is great, although some parts lack some contrast. I really think you've done a very nice job! Cheers to the choir and director!
Great rendition but the recording quality is not good. Nevertheless, I am proud of my Alma Mater
im crying:')
who sung this?
JDolande The Indinana University Conductor’s Chorus in 2016. Thank you for watching!
A truly sensitive performance that projects the feeling of Palestrina. It is sung with reverence.
Beautiful interpretation.
Very Beautiful Thank You
