All the songs have multiple layers of meanings, but the underlying message and theme is Taemin’s internal struggle between idol-Taemin and IRL-Taemin. “Criminal” touches on Stockholm Syndrome…being a willing captive to his idol persona. “IDEA” deals with Plato’s Theory of Idea: Form vs Identity…fighting to merge into one true self rather than two halves. “Advice” is basically his mic drop to the industry that has tried to conform him into their perfect idea of an idol, telling them to take his own advice and not push him around, that he’s going to stay true to himself. Girl, if you only knew what he went through when he was younger and the whole feminine-looking thing. If you get into the SHINee stuff, you will see it. His bandmate, Jonghyun, even wrote a song for Taemin about it on Taemin's first mini album 'ACE' called 'Pretty Boy' ft. EXO's Kai. He has really started to understand what he wants and I think he's okay going with the androgynous look. I personally consider him an artist of my life and I will forever be a fan.
