Save Me — Doug Martsch | Rare - Live 2009
In 2009, The Visual Arts Collective in Boise, Idaho hosted a benefit concert to support the Idaho Food Bank. They gathered 26 bands and artists to perform newly written songs for the event. Doug Martsch, a well-known Boise native, was invited to perform at the concert. He debuted this song, 'Save Me' which is played on an Omnichord, an instrument featured in 'Good Ol Boredom' from There Is No Enemy, and later incorporated it into his 2021 live shows.
This recording was done on Saturday, February 21st, 2009, and would later be released on the compilation album for this show titled, 'Rotating Tongues 2 - Progressive Indie Rock'
Interestingly, the recording of this performance at the benefit concert turned out to be a faux live recording, because the batteries of the Omnichord started dying, causing the tempo to change. As a result, Doug had to re-record the song at his home.

@switch1e It really is a shame, but I have a gut feeling that maybe some day some estranged friend of Doug has an extra tape lying around of the demos that’ll get unearthed.

This instrumental live song is from Neurolux, 1997-02-28. To me, it sound exacly the same, except my copy of the show, before the band start the show with this instrumental, Doug says something.
Yep your totally right, This recording is 2-28-97 i mislabeled this show, they also did a performance of this at the Westpark Event Center, that is not the recording I have up here though. Thanks for catching my mistake
@@BuiltToSpillTapesi don't have the Westpark concert, i don't know if there's even one recording. Do you know if there's one? The Neurolux recording is a SBD & AUD mix and sometimes is mislabeled as 1997-04-06 at RKCNDY. That's the info i still have in my CD.
@@joseoliveira4880 It does exist, it’s on the Internet Archive, if i remember correctly there’s a lot of clicks and buzzing in the show so that’s why’s I didn’t use it.
I so wish Doug would (re-)release all these songs that didn’t make it into albums, B-sides included. Add in Crawl and Dog Food and I’d be set.
I’ve mentioned this before but, one hope I have is that there would be a sort of Normal Years 2 that would pick up where the first one left off and include like you said all the B-sides and rarities

@@BuiltToSpillTapes Yes, they were mixed differently and I remember having a KILAS rip which had a lot of extra guitar parts mixed in. I personally own a City Slang of TNWWL and it sounds way different than CD/Spotify/etc.
