It was my understanding that straight cut gears are stronger and distributed load through the tooth evenly compared to helical but are noisy
Helical gears have angled teeth so there are always almost equal pressure at some point of the gear which is perpendicular to teeth, which is not case in other one. Hope you liked the video.

God can justly punish you and send you to hell. Ask him for mercy. His name is Jesus. It's as simple as this, The Ten Commandments are called the moral law. You and I broke God's laws. Jesus paid the fine. The fine is death. Ezekiel 18:20 - "The soul who sins shall die. That's why Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins. This is why God is able to give us Mercy. Option A. You die for your own sins. Option B. Ask for mercy and accept that Jesus died on the cross for you.❤❤❤

Helical gears impose axial loads ie gears will try and push apart along the shaft axis. Thrust bearings are required to cope with these loads which reduces overall efficiency and adds cost. One major advantage of planetary gear sets is tangential shaft forces are minimised reducing bearing load and thus increasing power transmission efficiency.
This is only true with helical style gears. Straight cut gears do not have the tendency to push in the shaft direction
@@wheelitzr2 Gearboxes with straight cut gears are stronger and more durable than ones with helical gears but the drawbacks are present like with everything. The noise they make is one reason why they're not used in road cars and another is the cost. But for performance applications the tradeoffs are worth it.
That's where herringbone/double-helical gears come in. They balance the axial loads. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herringbone_gear
@@WRSomsky Or two gears are used on the same shaft; one left helix and one right helix, so axial forces cancel each other. But it's not really a design for car gearbox.
