Marblecrete is a beautiful finish that was popular a hundred years ago. It is a unique combination of chipped marble, usually in several different colors. Marblecrete mixes were created onsite by artisan plasters to achieve a desired color and style. Even the color of the stucco base was tinted on site. Not many companies nowadays are able to repair Marblecrete. It was mixed on site, so it is v...

    Hey. I started doing plaster and did several walls. The only issue I have is that sometimes the plaster peels off in small patches when I burnish it. I am trying to find out why that happens. I keep my tools clean and have a separate burnishing trowel. Do you have any tips how to prevent that from happening ?

    Too bad you don't have more content. You and your wife are truly blessed with the stuff you know how to do. Too bad I wasn't living where you are, I would definitely team up with you. I'm coming upon my 40th anniversary as a Interprovincial Journeyman Carpenter, but I think in the states, I would be labeled as a Master Carpenter. I'm up in Canada, so I'm a certified journeyman across all of Canada. Please make more content. I'm camera shy, which is why I dont have a channel. My knowledge doesn't stop there, as I also do electrical and plumbing, and build high-end furniture. Sure with you would make more vids, I would definitely watch them all. And then some

    Hard coat is an amazing plaster to work with. You can strike sparks off the base coat ! Nice video ! Nice job. I remember the days walking backwards on stilts pulling a browning rod on the ceilings! I bought my plastering trowels on the net made in Italy. Three different sizes and I also have a very flexible Nela trowel . We do not have any plastering suppliers close by here any more. Years ago we could buy our plaster at most lumber yards. Great job you are a true craftsman my friend ! I am over 70 now and only do very small jobs . Running the big ceilings by myself are over. I have been experimenting with my own version with marble dust. The days of slacking the lime are almost passed cause most of the finishes we get here have the gauging already in it.

    Fantastic tips here. The dried pieces are really annoying and it would’ve been great to have that rag. I’ve just finished 1/2 of the area I’m doing and these tips should make the second half go a lot faster and be less frustrating. I’m varnishing the finished areas and it’s so beautiful 💕 Mine is a hallway though so no need to waterproof, I’m going to put a wax so hoping that part goes as easily as it suggests on the can 😆

    Hi it's amazing job! I have few questions, why they asked me to give 3 coats of plaster and should i not let it dry too much to get a real mirror effect? The jobs I have done never get real shiny for some reason. Thanks.

    • @stevestewart5292
      @stevestewart5292 Před 2 lety

      3 coats, first coat you let dry overnight. It gives you a better base for finish by providing some suction. Then the 2 coat finish. Let the first coat get pretty dried out, you'll see patches of wet and dry areas when you apply the 2nd and Trowel it down pretty good as you go. Getting the shine requires that you come back and burnish with your Trowel when it's set up already, you shouldn't be able to take any off when burnishing. The more you Trowel the shinier it gets but also the more you Trowel the more colorful it gets.
