Slow Stitch Meditation Squares - Relaxing, Slow and Mindful - Visual ASMR
In this slow paced relaxing video, I mindfully stitch a small 2-inch square of hand painted fabric to complete a nine square grid.
This video is intended to be both inspiring and relaxing, whether you stitch along with me or just watch as I stitch. However, please feel free to mute the sound if you prefer no music, or fast forward as needed if it is too slowly paced for your enjoyment.
Thank you for watching!

Using marks I make on fabric to guide my hand stitching - Mixed media textile art
zhlédnutí 1KPřed 3 měsíci
In this video, I share with you my slow stitch technique using mark making as a prompt. I make the marks with various tools and acrylic paints. These marks are then used as a guide and I respond to the marks made. I've used both Anchor and DMC embroidery threads in two strands. Light Grey DMC168, Orange Anchor 537; unfortunately I don't have the number for the blue. Thanks so much for watching!...

      Hello Susan! Thank you for watching. I used acrylic paint in this instance, but I've also used water based printing inks before. It's been a while since I did any lino printing and would like to get back to exploring it again, one day! ☺

    • @SusanMJB45
      @SusanMJB45 Před 3 měsíci

      @@OhSewMindful Did you prefer acrylic paint (heavy body or fluid) or water based printing inks? And did you use a fabric medium with the acrylic paints? I was doing some research about painting on fabric and came across Golden's GAC 900 which is their fabric medium. Apparently, it makes the paint adhere to the fabric better. However, with that said, since I almost always make wall hangings with my slow stitch projects, I am not sure the fabric medium is necessary. I would really appreciate if you could make a short video about your process with lino printing on fabric. Just the basics. What you use for fabric. What you use for paint or ink and the basic process. I absolutely love your leaf lino printed fabric in your neutral and golden yellow wall hanging that you did a 2-part video on a while ago. That is the kind of lino printing that I'm interested in doing, but need some basic instructions. Please consider a video on that? Pretty please? 🙂

    • @OhSewMindful
      @OhSewMindful Před 3 měsíci

      @@SusanMJB45 No preference really on either. I just went for the colour I wanted, and that happened to be one of the basic craft acrylic paints. I didn't use a fabric medium, and never have. I usually just press the fabric, once dry, to set it. The items I create aren't intended to be washed anyway. I have seen others using Golden's fabric medium. As far as a video on my lino printing process, I will see what I can do. I will add it to my never ending list! 😆

I've read online it's called bearding and they say turn the batting over or change needles. Tried both but nothing works. I have been meaning to post this for a while, so here goes 🙂 I am so grateful for the time and effort that you put into making your videos - the quality is excellent and I enjoy both the ones where you are speaking (your voice is so soothing) and the ones that have a music background. Most of all, I love your choices of colors and I am mesmerized by watching you go through your entire process. Every movement that you make is zen...... from choosing and placing your fabric collage pieces to threading the needle to the actual slow stitching. I know that you do not post videos frequently, but I appreciate and am grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you. I need zen in my life and you provide that.... always. A question while I'm here: I want to try painting some fabric with watercolor paint...... your painted fabrics are so lovely. What fabrics have you found to work the best - thin cotton, quilting cotton, linen, ????

    • @OhSewMindful
      @OhSewMindful Před 3 měsíci

      Firstly, can I just say, thank you so very much. I can't tell you how much it means to read such a wonderful comment. You have completely made my day; my week! You obviously realise how much goes into creating videos, and although I love making them, they do take so much time to put together! And for a techy novice like myself, it takes even longer! 😆So yes, I don't upload as often as I'd like, but I'm hoping to change that, and upload a little more often. We all definitely need zen in our lives at the moment; so if I can provide a little of that then all the better! As far as fabrics for painting, I find cotton, and poly cotton work well, but it's just a case of experimenting and trying little samples of whatever you have to hand. It's great fun seeing how different fabrics react with paints. Acrylic paints are good to use too. I hope this helps! Whatever you use, have fun! Thank you, once again for taking the time to comment. It really does mean the world! 🥰🥰🥰

    Beautiful. I'm doing a slow stitch snow drop for my month of May flower. You gave me lots of ideas to try. Thanks for your videos.

    I have the Laura Ashley green and white. It's a scrap from my daughters crib lining. She is 48 in September. No snowdrops where I live now but we had lots of freesia and some narcissi.

      I was actually unaware that the fabric was Laura Ashley! I found the pieces in a bag of prepared patchwork pieces that no-one had actually used. They were a charity shop purchase! Thank you for enlightening me to the design. How lovely that your daughters crib lining was made from the same fabric all those years ago! Thank you so much for watching! 🥰

    Oh how lovely. Snowdrops are special to me because my grandmother introduced me to them when I was a little girl and I think that made me in to an avid gardener. That was almost 80 years ago!

      That is such a beautiful story, thank you for sharing it. Snowdrops are special, and to think that your grandmother's introduction to them has brought you so many years of gardening pleasure, is special too 🥰 Thank you for watching!

    What's the point of this?

      I'm sorry, I don't understand. Does there need to be a point to creating something? Can we not create something just for the pure pleasure of creating it?
