@@sebby2378 some Mammillaria can be pollinated with its own flower. For Gymnocalycium, I think majority need a pollen from another specimen (different clone). Some of the cacti that can be pollinated with its own pollen are Melocactus, and Frailea.

Hi, thanks for watching my videos. I appreciate your comment. I don’t recommend root trimming a cacti if it is flowering. I let the flower bloom first before repotting, since a lot of the cactus energy will be sent to the flower buds. If you plan to root trim a cacti with flower buds, you could remove the flower bud first so the cacti could focus in growing new healthy roots.

@@theplantprinceph Thank you very much for being so helpful, just to add I just uprooted the plant out of curiosity, it seems to have very little roots and is in a more organic soil then I would prefer, should I still wait for the flower to bloom or just do it now?

@@blitzynautilus2420 oohhh. If you already uprooted it, then you can roottrim it and repot it. It will still root, but it will take a little bit longer since the energy of the cactus will be focus on its bloom first. Try adding more inorganic or grits in the soil mix also to increase aeration, drainage and encourage more robust root growth.

Hello, you could. But only add a little ammount, since coffee grounds are high in nitrogen. Unlike leafy plants, cacti ate slow growing plants which means they don’t need high ammount of nitrogen.

Yes, A. capricorne and A. ornatum have spines. I mostly collect different phenotype and cultivar of A. asterias. But now I have some A. capricorne varieties.

Do this during their growing season. Usually, within a week, roots will begin to emerge from the cactus. Within a month or two, they will have grown many robust and healthy roots. You can repot in a bigger pot if the cactus has outgrown the current one. If there is still room for growth in the same pot, then you can keep it in the same pot.

Yes, you could use it. But use it in moderate since water from the aquarium is rich in nitrogen. And Cactus don’t want high nitrogen. You could either dilute the water from the aquarium or use it only once every 1-2 months.

White tag are Php 650 or around USD 11 Green tags are Php 2, 000 and above or around USD 34 Red tags are Php 5, 000 and above or around USD 85.5 After transplanting, I water them at least twice a week. The amount is little, just to keep the soil mix a abit moist to encourage root growth.

I still don’t have Ariocarpus. But some of my followers and subscribers use my Astrophytum or Lophophora soilmix and based on them it works well.

Not sure if how long they will last since I think there were no information about it in the web. But I’ve seen collectors with Gymnocalycium hybrids that is more than 3 decades. I think they could last long with proper care.

Thanks for watching! There are a lot of affordable cacti in the event. I was able to buy a Lophophora for Php 150 and a Frailea for Php 100. There are lots of cacti and succulents that are below Php 100.
