I love rewatching these old Sonic Saturdays

now that cd is finished.. There is another classic sonic game that has alot of things incommon with cd. Importantly, the soundtrack(s). Yeah this is also a game that has two soundtracks, one released on the sega mega drive/ genesis console. And the other one on the sega saturn console. Here are the major differences: Sega mega drive/genesis= chip tunes and sounds Sega saturn = Cd quality sounds. But the only real difference is now they're both are STUNNING and not like cd which the jp (og) soundtrack is far more superior lol. God, it's so hard to accept that its over... but I'd like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking a listen to Sonic CD's soundtracks (not only the original JP and US, but also the remix album). These songs are so beautiful and nostagic, I just can't believe there's so few content creators that talk about it/react to it. And the fact that this album is so unknown to the community is really a crime. That's why I can say that it was totally worth it staying up until 3 AM to watch all of this😂

@ZorDonofDoom First off, love seeing your fresh reactions to all the Sonic music😉❤️👍🏻 Second off, I think someone mentioned it in the stream, but I personally think Sonic Generations would be a PERFECT place to start when playing the series as it is essentially a “Greatest Hits” of the franchise’s best levels and music. The upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations is basically just an enhanced version of the old game but with a second campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog and even MORE levels and music. So yeah, if you want a broad scope of the franchise, Sonic X Shadow Generations would probably be the best place to start. Afterwards, go nuts with the rest of the franchise in any order you want🥳👍🏻

I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere, but I'd like to try my hand at summarizing: The JP/EU Soundtrack for Sonic CD was (after a couple revisions or so?) heavily inspired by the underground scenes in music of the time. Club music, acid, techno, new jack swing, funk, rave culture music, etc etc. All of the music was fit within the limitations of the Mega-CD console and HEAVILY overseen by the game's director to be completely in step with the rest of the game. I think that plays a massive part in explaining why the famed Sonic CD Remix Album is so beloved - because it's a step further into the inspirations behind the Sonic CD Soundtrack, without the limitations of the Mega-CD console. When moving Sonic CD overseas to the states, I imagine that there were a number of reasons why the soundtrack was changed, all of which amounts to corporate meddling, maybe a different perspective on the capabilities of the Mega-CD and what its role is in the console market, and difference in musical preferences. While in Japan the songs were closer to an evolution of those synth kinds of music from normal 8-bit, 16 bit, 32, bit styles, the American side wanted to focus on producing CD-level quality, which ended up as being more Rock focused. It certainly makes it more unique, relative to the other consoles at the time, but the circumstances around the creation of those songs (including, but not limited to, being made at the last minute for the release) would kind of change the tone that was intentionally crafted for the game. And to its credit, it still sounds great! Sega of America did a lot to make the Mega-CD console have sort of a live audio sound instead of anything traditionally safe or video-game-like. It felt like a live rock show, especially for Sonic CD. It just, tragically, is not the intended vision for the game, despite how great it sounds. I think the more you familiarize yourself with Sonic CD, in themes and visuals and so on, the more that the JP soundtrack resonates with the listener. Anecdotally, everyone I've talked to about Sonic CD's soundtracks tend to appreciate the JP/EU version more, despite only knowing the NA version until adulthood. It just feels more "appropriate", I guess? And it's supposed to feel that way. There's even a secret image in Sonic CD with Sonic and Metal Sonic holding microphones as DJs (with Sonic wearing a big Ring necklace), and Eggman on a turntable wearing Rastafarian colors. Not very Rock Concert, is it? Glad that you liked Sonic CD, both US and JP soundtracks! CD (specifically JP version, if I haven't made that clear) has always been one of my favorite video game sound tracks ever, and it's fun to go through it all again with a new perspective.

Sonic Boom!!!!!

I made a bit of an error when talking about PalmTree Panic Bad Future at 3:00:30. In it I talked about how the hopeful section being barely there shows how dire the song is, what I failed to mention was that my favorite part was that hopeful section, As a sort of ray of light in a sea of darkness kind of feeling that it had. It goes to show that no matter how bad things get there will always be hope no matter how hard the darkness wants to drown it out... I like to think that hope in this song and in this game represents Sonic who is able to change the future causing a horrible world like this to never become a reality!!!! This is why I love Sonic CD and I can't wait for what's next!!!!

A bit of info about the Sonic Gems Collection at 34:25 songs because I fell asleep too soon! Both 6290 and After 6290 actually originate from a remix album from a few months before SonicCD released! With 6290 Mix being part of volume 1, and After 6290 Mix being from about a year later, which is probably what the "After" in the title is referring to. The Album never released outside of Japan, so translations were never made for them, and I guess the localisation team for Sonic Gems couldn't be bothered to go back and rebuild one remix just to change a few barely-audible voice clips lol. Also the "Lets go!" sample used in 6290 Mix apparently originates from a 60's Batman cartoon... I don't have a grand explanation, it's just kinda neat. Glad you enjoyed the songs :D

I'm gonna be rewatching these reactions for a long time, and I truly appreciate you for even viewing my remixes as jams along with the works of all the other music producers! But don't think I've run out of great Sonic songs to share! As I said on stream, there are Sonic DJ mixes which take many different songs from Sonic's history and places them into a large DJ party mix. The most notable of these are as follows: - The Sonic DJ at Sega Fes 2018 - Sonic's DJ Birthday Mix in 2019 - The Sonic DJ Style Party Mix (2022) - Sonic's Birthday Bash DJ Mix Sonic Frontiers DLC (2023) This amounts to a total of around under 3 and a half hours of Sonic tunes. These mixes contain Sonic tracks that you've heard before (including some from Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Generations!) as well as many new tracks you haven't heard before. It could be a cool way to introduce you to the wider world of Sonic music while also letting you jam out to Sonic's history and previously heard music at the same time! Some of these mixes do have repeats in them (some of the mixes share the same songs) but all of them are unique in their own way, each adding different tracks to listen to. Producer SKY-HI is trying to create their own music while respecting existing music. MAZZEL have a different style from BE: FIRST. That's why he decided to make the music label BE-U, which is different from BE:FIRST. Naoya and Hayato were involved in the costumes and so on in the production of this MV, and Seito was mainly involved in the idea of the video, and Takuto, Ran and Ryuki were involved in the dance with him . The album "Parade" is more deeply involved in the direction of members. Choreographer is Quick Style that BTS has also worked on. Takuto asked them for Choreograph. This choreography is amazing 💕Seito , a B-boy, won the Breakin’ national tournament held in Japan when he was in high school. His friends are participating in this Paris Olympics. Well, when you're done listening to most of the official Sonic OSTs, you might want to give some fan game OSTs a try. A good example is the SBR2 OST, the most recent OST, it has bangers, and even a really cool and ethereal water stage theme.

I used to not like the American OST, but nowadays I think it's cool, but my favorite is the Japanese OST

I don't know a lot about music, but you said the Past (P) version was on a different format. I heard that the Past tracks were done purposely on an older format to give it an "older" feel since this music is supposed to represent the past. They didn't change it when they brought it to the US because it would have been too difficult and time consuming, so they just changed the other 3 tracks for each world and left it at that.

If you want to hear Sonic songs performed live I definitely suggest checking out the Sonic Orchestra, I know they should have the performance somewhere recorded, unless you wanna get tickets to the actual show, but I think they still have the songs on CZcams from the 30th anniversary. The 8 bit big band also made some jazz variations of classic Sonic songs but they haven’t made many tho. They’re pretty good if you wanna check them out as well.
