Andy, just found your video by accident. Wow, thank you. At 77 YO, I'm closing down a business I've owned for 32 years and was looking for something to keep me busy and entertained during retirement. Woodworking was my choice and I have purchased all the basics, planer, jointer and such but wanted to have the ability to customize gifts for my family and friends. After some research I chose the basic Shapeoko 4 standard which I'm in the process of assembly, slowly lol. Your video helps give me confidence that I made the right choice. Having been in a small business all these years I know at my age there will be much frustration but I'm still looking forward to it. Have subscribed and look forward to following. Thank You.

The bit is always tightened with one hand..that's why it has a wrench angle

When I watch similar videos..and notice that everyone tightens the bit wrongly. Why do you think that wrench has angles?

Great video! You are about to learn the difference between an engineer and a machinist- theory is great (engineering) getting it to function is machining- I give it a month before it collapses under poor design

Which ai do you use that has images?

I am exactly the same. I have ideas that I would love to bring to life, but not an ounce of design knowledge. I would love to utilize AI to design something, but combining that with paying to make it functional is out of my price range for every idea i have. This biggest question I have is if I want to learn design for woodworking, where is the best place to start? Fine arts classes, woodshop classes, engineering, is it a combination, What is the path for self learning?

It turned out great! Kawser clearly understands the engineering side as well as design. Now it just needs some seat belts and LEDs he can switch on and off 😆 Key takeaway is don’t let your skill gap limit your potential, there are resources out there to help you…from bookkeeping to design!

I had the same problem with the bed mount. They don't go one rail over, they need to be reversed. Notice that the holes are closer to one side. The SHORT SIDE goes to the outside of the bed.

Selling products is very difficult. I still can't sell much at all that is not what others make and therefore no profit! Why bother?

Ok I do like your videos and this video. Buuuuut I will say some of this stuff can get a little misleading. So I will leave the material cost math alone, but sizes matter for what you get out a sheet. The painting is where it gets tricky, to do that bomb pop, you need to have the stencil for the paint or to do it in a clever manner. So time is always a component of this stuff, and where china always wins. I am not saying the products are bad ideas, not really at all. Just when we are talking about selling things, we all have a different number for how much labor is per hour, so the time itself matters

For the "home" hearts... paint the board white.. then pocket out the insides leaving the letters, and edge to stand proud. Then paint outside of the hearts. I think the idea isn't to outsell HL with their own products, it's to take the inspiration and make one that looks better. When they have a "Welcome" door hanger (door round) that is painted or uses vinyl lettering, it would look like a better sign if you created it as a multiple layer sign. Cut the backer round, then cut out and glue lettering, and/or design elements. These are great ideas Andy. Any time my wife needs to go to HL to get fabric or fake plants.. I am walking around with my phone taking pics.
