I'm an idiot who does things. Making and breaking things, but mostly breaking things.
So I put a USB C charging port in my year 2011 laptop
I pulled apart my 11 year old lenovo laptop (e320) and soldered a USB-C charging port in it. By using a USB-C PD trigger module that had a 20v selection on it. Works quite well.

The up-gradable laptop I can't get rid of: CPU upgrade etc

In this video I upgrade the HDD to an SSD. New ram. And even put a faster cpu in my Lenovo thinkpad e320. The old cpu was a i5-2410M. Now it has a Intel Core I7-2760QM in it. Works quite well and is still a fast CPU for its age. I rendered this very video on it in 4K(I was going to do HD but I wanted to stress the thing). I did take 4h 30min for a 14min video (software render in shotcut). I had...

In this video I look (complain really) at the specifications ( that I think are important to me) of the following headlamps: Fenix HM70r Nitecore HC68 Nitecore HC65 v2 CYANSKY HS6R Fenix HM60R Acebeam H30 Then I explain why I bought the CYANSKY HS6R... Here you can read that terrible table I made during my research: bytes.ashsibe.com/product-research/finding-my-perfect-headlamp

Update 29/10/2021: I've now been using these ear buds for like over 2 months now and they have been really good. I know I did complain about the noise they produce but I need to put that in context: I sometimes listen to music in a quite room on the lowest volume setting. I'm also someone who used to know when a mobile phone had finished charging in a room by hearing the difference in the coil ...
what about x131e ? can i replace intel celeron to core i5 or 7?
And what would happen if he used both the new USB C and original charging port at the same time? double charging speed?!
Where are the decent lights?
Is it possible to just connect the direct positive and negative port, and on the other side use a GAN charger that will know the amount of voltage and current needed?
I see the motherboard can support a solder CPU for a GPU as well as open solder memory bays for the GPU.
Pulling out the battery and letting everyone see your product key .... Noice 😅
6:24/14:28 Look at all that dirt on the fan!!!
Baterie
Leave him alone¡!¡!!!
never thought I'd see a PGA on a 2nd intel core processor I thought they made it all LGA at that point
You could add thermal pad onto chipset and charging coil to potentially stop the shutdown with heavy use.. they are probably the things getting hottest and causing shutdown.
It looks like that laptop motherboard has a place for a GPU which means you could probably get a cooler from a model that had one, that would definitely be something to look into since you upgraded the cpu to a higher tdp model
Can i have that old cpu my friend has an older cpu and needs an upgrade
you are not a windows user?
is the i7 3840qm or 3620m compatible in hp pavilion g6?
Where did this channel go
My dream laptop Edit: i realised it have a msata slot lol now i want it 🦖🦖🦖 Edit2: i realised i dont have any money soo ill just ✈✈✈✈✈
can you coreboot it ?
why you are wasting so much electricity by using this fu*** laptop
The i7-3720qm in my 15” dell latitude e6530 is removable too!
i have a latitude e5420
It looks like there a vacant gpu "slot". If you have the skills to solder a gpu and vram on it, it would prolly be the "ultimate upgrade"
Needs a new heat sink and fan assembly
And mod the bios
did you just change a CPU without removing the battery? lmao
that laptop after the upgrade is worse than my iphone 11.
cyberpunk on ultra i guess
Nice work! I have an observation; were those 'right-angle' markings on the underside of the heatsink raised? If so, you're not going to get any real contact between the die and the cpu. I'm hoping those were just marks though!
but can it beat intel n100
wow the ram ssd and cpu are 10 times more expensive than the laptop is worth...the intel hd 3000 is so outdated now...not usable anymore....better buy a laptop with better specs than that....
keep posting please!
Let's not mention the ram name lmaf
I have a Fujitsu Lifebook A574/M and the CPU is 100% upgradeable
i know this video is old BUT i need to tell you that my ideapad z370 came up as having 8gb ram max support on the website last i looked. i threw in 16 and still ran like a charm :)
U can put Ivy Bridge CPUs in this thing no problem. Also, u probably did a bad job instaling that CPU heatsink, maybe u used too little mounting pressure.
can i do this with my medion ayoka? (s3409)
Upgrading the cpu in a laptop in <current year> is a fantasy!! i really miss the days where you could repair and upgrade almost everything you bought.
now plug both of the wires at the same time
nonono edge thinkpads suckss
i have a e530. It does remarkably well. i ended up giving it to my mom for her office work
Pointless upgrade
"Why make laptops cpu upgradable when you can make a whole new laptop with little upgrades" - Computer manufacturers
OMG the thermal paste overflow is messing with my OCD
Something that could help with temps might be to try and find the cooler that is for the model with the GPU. It will likely have an extra heat pipe or a bigger one, and it'll generally offer a higher thermal mass.
Can your shitty 1 heat pipe cooling even handle 45w?🤣🤣🤣
Parece uma cobertura de bolo.
People forget, until post circa 2010, laptops coming with socketed CPU's and ram enabling full upgrades was standard practice across the industry for decades. Now such a thing is sold to you as a gimmick for a much higher price by bespoke companies while the main bulk of producers use vastly cheaper production methods of soldering direct to board, which also ensures the product is destined for landfill much sooner than needed.
They let you upgrade cpu until Intel 4000 4th gen haswell
Wurrkos Hd15 seems like it does everything you want? And at $50 bucks
I guess you gave up on your CZcams channel. Oh well.
I got the 420s for a 5er the other day
I remember my dad purchasing a bunch of these things close to like 2010 and installing linux on them all and giving them to each of us 6 kids. Never really liked linux as a kid as our main stations all had windows 10 so I was always trying to run things through wine and never could.
Didn't remove the battery before installing the parts 🤦♂️🤦♂️
