Ricky is incredible, but that woman becoming emotional is plain silly. It's obvious that the ice was a set up, prearranged with the restaurant and inserted on the table by the staff when she was distracted.
I get rather emotional when watching this. A woman who has experienced, at least to her, something supremely profound and life-altering. Who are we to question her sense of wonder? The beauty of illusion is accepting the unreality and illogic of it all. To take away from that makes us less human.

Well smoking is seen a bit different in Spain and France especially if you were 70 yrs old , in 1999. However in this case its all about the subtle duality /path symbolism through out the movie. Two twin brothers ( played by the same guy) One smokes carelessly and is more gruff, the other does not and is more clean and reserved. Later in another library by a single woman, she scolds him for considering smoking. Every scene in the movie is full of this stuff.

The only thing I noticed was she put the green pump nozzle in the car. In USA the green nozzle is Diesel fuel. I dont think that car ran on diesel. .
The color is set by the retailer, not by any US or world standard. There are stations in the US and throughout the world where the green pump is the highest octane. The size of the aperture of the diesel pump is regulated vs standard gas however, and would not have fit in the car. Next time you get gas try to put the diesel nozzle in your gas car, it wont fit. : ]
@@RayoAtra in Australia the green pump is most often E10 unleaded with a supposed higher octane rating than regular unleaded,(94 vs 91) octane rating also varies around the world so I guess making different size nozzles would be smart,sadly I know of plenty of people who have gone the other way and put petrol in their diesel. Also I once had to help a fellow diesel user in a small euro car that had a fuel intake too small for the only available diesel pump,had to use a funnel

For all that don't get the relevance of Clarkson's "joke" the mask he used was of former British comedian turned naturalist Bill Oodie. It was a crass inside shot done at ths woman's detriment by a dirty old man, he basically believed he could say anything he wanted because he thought she was too dumb to get it.
here you see the most willingly polarized take on a way more staged joke than we want to admit from 15 years ago. I dont think a language barrier makes her dumb.
@@RayoAtra If you study the kind of colonialist attitude Clarkson clearly holds dear you'll understand HE does believe a language barrier is all's that's needed pull this kind of "above their heads" stunt. And obviously the producers that staged this feel the same way.
