I am playing this lovely two manual Laycock & Bannister pipe organ, at the Methodist church in Ben Rhydding which is a suburb of Ilkley in West Yorkshire. A very short video clip of the church bell at St Mary's church in Gomersal, near Cleckheaton striking the single bell which is operated by the clock mechanism every hour. This bell was cast by James Barwell in 1875, and weighs 1792 pounds which is around 16cwt.

I haven't heard or even thought about this hymn for probably 30+ years and just hearing you play it now, wow, I can remember *all* the words, at least of the first verse and chorus! Beautiful words too, that mean so much more to me now than all those years ago at primary school. Thank you 😄
So wonderful to hear that. Yes we also sang this at morning assemblies in mid 1970s and early 80s when I was at school. Glad it has brought some happy memories for you.

Do you know who built the organ?
I'm not entirely sure, I do know that this organ is a good few hundred years old. I will try and find out for you.. I think it may also have some Willis in there

I first played that Hymn when I was a teenager, when I bought “ Thirty 20th Century Hymn Tunes” Priced at 6 shillings in the old money, from Banks & Son Music York 1967, ( I think it’s 30P ).
