I think that the biggest problem with the $100 bill shot was the black and white wall in the background. It is on theme for the astronauts, but it has so much value contrast that it draws attention to itself even when blurred a little. Way more than the bill. That's why the gold shot worked better.

here is what appeals to me. The slug has to be there. I really like the Aqua Dozer thumb nail. The one with the weird girl with the stickers in the corner bothers me.

Such a fun behind the scenes video and I'm taking notes! I've always been told thumbnails are important to the impression of a video and I'll work to make mine better. Also the transitions remind me of "onion skinning" in stop motion animation, getting a transparent overlap between frames to keep the subject in focus and consistent.

I think it's funny that you're saying "ah this thumbnail ain't that good, people will pass over it" but as a subscriber I don't care, I'm just gonna watch it regardless. Because I know your videos are good. But appealing to new viewers is important, so good on ya

So fascinating to hear that you create your thumbnails in PowerPoint. When I was younger I would use it to help make small animations haha. Honestly though I would definitely consider branching out and trying some software build for photo editing, there are a ton of pretty good, cheap/free stuff out there that might really help speed up the process for you. Even if you just use them to help with the image cropping process and then finish the edit back in PowerPoint, because as you know trying to do that manually is a nightmare, haha.

Finally, someone else who makes thumbnails in Powerpoint. I feel seen.

PowerPoint is a very strong and useful tool, but using it to make all your thumbnails is crazy 😭 I’m Adobe certified proficient in photoshop, and I still wouldn’t be able to use powerpoint. For my videos I usually just use a box image, but it looks good on resumes lol

To get more views from the thumbnail you should've added a crying screaming slug, a wojak and a white text like "THEY LIED?..."

I've been using my video editing program to make thumbnails since my first video on this channel; if it works, it works! Slugger thumbnails (I'm not imagining a slug with human thumbs for arms, can't un-imagine that) do indeed work!

I really appreciate your commitment to artistic integrity. The way you respect the viewer to guide them just enough, but leave them the choice in the end. That's really admirable. The white text on the sand purple thumbnail makes the whole thing look washed out, great choice to stick with purple. also imho, basic standard looking thumbnails are good, i actually personally prefer the original aquadozer thumbnail, but maybe that’s me

I like your thumbnails they have a unique style and you can tell they are yours, they fit nicely with your video editing style

(You're not the first person to make thumbnails in powerpoint. There are worse stand-ins for a proper vector art program.)

I wonder how well your videos perform if the Slugger character is at least 1/3 of each thumbnail. Personally I don't really care about the topic, if I see a Slugger video I simply click. Maybe that's the case with most people.

This genuinity (is that a word? Who cares) is actually very comforting as I have basically delt with almost identical situations (thumbnail revisions, cut content, etc). Really enjoyed this for that reason.

I liked this video! I like thinking about these things too, overanalyzing how the attention is drawn, how the color scheme conveys something, it appeals to my silly artsy thoughts lol.
