Building cars to drive them carefully!
We bought a WRECKED E36 M3 from Pick-n-Pull!
In todays episode of our car addiction. We purchase and sadly part out a super rare e36 m3! That we got from the junk yard! Guess how much we paid for it in the comments down below!
Some background on the car. We got it from a junkyard. It had what's called a "branded title," meaning it was registered as a "Salvage" title and labeled as a "scrap" car. That made it really tough to sell. Plus, it had been in a crash. The driver's side door was badly damaged, along with the side skirt metal on the side and the B pillar next to it was shifted, so the back passenger door wouldn't close right. The rear suspension was also damaged in said accident. With all that damage, mileage, and its appearance, selling it for what it was worth was almost impossible. That's why we decided to take it apart. Everything from this car, even the shell, is being used to keep other people's BMWs running, as we mentioned in the video. Hopefully this provides some context, we did not just "part out" a perfectly running and driving car.
I hope you guys enjoyed watching! New videos coming very soon!

In todays video I finally get around to manual swapping my 1997 BMW M3. Starting off an an automatic was just tragic for such a great car and it needed to be remedied. With the help of some good friends and a free weekend I got it done! I decided to go full oem swap besides a few exceptions. The only non-oem part I used was the Bimmerworld clutch line Part #: 100.23.536.0005. It allowed me to r...

its m52 lol
M3s come equipped with an S52
US-spec m3 have M52 with bigger displacement (3,2 liters)
@@Xxrocktheo The S52 uses components from an M52. S52 was hand-built in Germany by the M Division. Theres a reason I sold the s52 out of this car for about as much as I can buy an entire 328i with the m52 included lol
I did this, too much movement on pallet or bolting to wood deck.. have to bolt to concrete for zero movement... Too much forces to mount new tire will make this setup move making it harder. This worked for 2 tire dismounts for me until crap loosened up.
Yes bolting to concrete is the best way. However, I can't do that, so I chose the free pallet

Most parts sold locally and didn't offer shipping. You can join e36 facebook groups to find parts

crazy how the duck bill mod is twice more expensive than the actual tire changer... bro you got ripped off.😂
Considering it's about $40 each time I go to the tire shop to have my rear tires swapped, this budget tire changer has paid for itself so many times over
@@gosteazy thats awesome and im happy for you bro... but you still got ripped off. 😂
It's the way the prices go. Duckbill is usually the more expensive part
Uh yeah the mod is the part that makes it work. Tire changer is fine for completely roached out rims and testing your strength. Mod makes the changer actually useful. Trust me I've used it both ways.
So care to tell us where to go to not get ripped off? Oh, and if you're going to suggest diy don't forget to either include the cost of tools necessary to fabricate it or the cost of hiring someone to do it for you.
Just bought a beater welded the diff an did something like this with the washer reservoir so it drifts easier 😂
I thought you were going to spray it while drifting, how does wetting the tires after drifting help prolong life? I genuinely don't understand, are you just cooling the tires down?
Yes it cools down tires after drifting. Tire get too hot = not last. Tire cool down = last longer.
I don’t get how this works doing it after, I get 6 ish mins out of a set approximately 3 laps 70-80 MPH entry etc. if it’s wet out they will last 30 ish mins! Really don’t understand how it’s prolonging life doing it after you’ve stoped
Did you code the dme
I really need help with coding it to manual after the swap
@@djeriejr3783 I found someone on instagram that could code it for me locally. You can get on shipped by companies like Kassle Performance
Nice beginner editorial 👍 A Uberhose upgrade is all you need now
Bro I have been struggling to do my swap for about a month my trans is not going all the way in with about a half inch of room. Any advice thank u 😢
The trans will never perfectly sit on the motor after re-installation, you just need it seated somewhat then you can use the bell-housing bolts to secure it on completely.
sick video! maybe one day I will commit to this project 🤣 also those m3 seats are killing me haha
They were swapped with vaders
Most important thing is bolting down to concrete get drop in anchors it makes it night and day Mostly. You don't usethe red cross when using cone.
That centering cone you bougt is more important than that red 4 point insert. You can just toss that if they both don't fit.
Now I need you to do one for the Karcher 😂 Cheers for the vid mate! Well done 👍
Some goat shi 🔥💯💯💯
wrong 15mm to 14mm adapter link btw
Fixed thanks for the heads up
Whats the cost on the swap minus labor?
Around 2k in todays market, but ive been storing parts for a while so I spent around 1200
Enjoyed the content. Be care with the rapid camera movement. I got a little dizzy watching.
Thanks for the cc
You don't has a balancing tool...
Drifting on these wheels, no balancing needed
You can add a bubble static balancer to the machine.
Airsoft BBs are cheap.... I pay $2.99 a tire to balance 33" tires for the rest of their life.
@@parkercustoms462you just put them into the valve stem and they roll around? Never heard of this approach. Need to learn more about it
I enjoyed your video, it has inspired me to upgrade my Harbor Freight pressure washer. In the list of products used the Washer Gun and Foam Cannon have the same link. Is there a specific link for the Foam Cannon that you can provide, Thanks
So sorry about that! Just updated the description with the correct link. Thanks for watching
have you tried used engine oil?😂
I also replaced my bleeder screw with a brass one because the plastic one broke in my coolant reservoir
I broke my stud the same way by hand😂
Okay wtf
Yo dude that's really smart! I dont drift myself but I use those super grippy soft tires that just wears down like crazy. Maybe it could be useful for me! Awesome video, keep it up!

Hey man I’m buying a automatic e36 m3 in amazing condition. Exterior and interior are actually mint. It’s had a head gasket replacement, head rebuild, and brand new transmission. Do you think it’s worth it to swap? For around 12k. It’s a 4 door black on black ‘98 with sunroof. Also what upgrades or things do you think I can expect to fix on it
Hey man, if it's a low-mileage, very clean example in automatic form, it's probably worth 10-12k, especially with the work that's been done to it. 100% worth it to swap! If you have documented proof the automatic transmission is brand new, you could make a few grand selling it on eBay. When it comes to things you can expect to fix, if it hasn't already been done, the cooling system, intake hoses, suspension (shocks, struts, bushings, ball joints)-when it comes to upgrades, I definitely recommend some good bushings, shock tower reinforcements, and maybe a good set of coils. A swap is a great chance to upgrade the shifting mechanism! Dssr, Dinan short shifter, replace all the bushings in the shifter assembly; you also should replace the detents in the manual transmission you'd swap into it. I wish I had replaced the detents on mine; that combo will make your e36 shift better than new! Good luck, man. Definitely purchase it. The last thing I'll say is to make sure you have documented proof of all the services done to it and that you get a mechanic inspection prior to purchase. Good luck!
Did you keep the cross member the same or did you have to buy a manual cross member?
I got a manual cross member.
Eesy good Job bro Im From germany😍
