If the tablet connector doesn't work, you might check some of the connector cleaning tools available on Amazon. Something they are just plugged up with debris

@@a1990c I just set my iPad to the Melbourne time zone. It showed Wednesday April 3, 2024 11:AM on the display and spoke the date & time correctly. It's Tuesday April 2, 2024 5:00 PM as I am in California. I had a friend try it on his iPad gen 9 and his still works ok. I really don't understand why yours isn't working

I installed on another ipad 2 .....same problem ........ and just tried on my current ipad 5. running 17.3.1 same issue ........ doesn't like Australia timezones !!

@@a1990c Could you try a US Time Zone to see if the problem goes away? I know that is not a solution. BTW, do you use a VPN?

Playing around with this some more. Rotating the qi charging puck has made a definite improvement for me. It appears to work best if it's lined up so the writing is the same way on both the puck plus the magic tag. It's a little touchy for sure. I can appreciate how they use the little thumbscrew to lock in in position. At least for one axis. Two solid blue lights ought to really mean that charging is working. Wireless charging really seems it's a compromise of not messing about with cords but losing charging speed. For folk that typically charge their devices overnight. That's not likely a issue I am sure though.

Thanks for your question. The Amazon Omni TV offers a much better solution. It can power on the TV and connect the webcam, even on a Drop In call. I'm working on a new video to show this great feature.

@@Technology4Seniors Hi! One of my family members just went into assisted living, and wants to be able to video call. We are needing to buy a TV for their room, so figured setting it up on the TV would be the best route. Is the Omni TV the only Amazon device that allows the drop-in feature? Given that they are not tech-savvy and have troubles with speaking (dementia), it would be best if they did not have to press a button or speak to answer, even as easy as it sounds to us. Does the newest generation fire stick or cube power on the tv on a drop-in call like the Omni TV? We are trying to find the “cheapest” way we can drop in and chat with them. Thank you very much!

Alexa for group calls is great, but some group members may not want to use it. Zoom is also useful if you are joining a scheduled meeting hosted by others such as a class.

@@Technology4Seniors Which would be easier to teach a 80 yo grandmother? Zoom on a laptop for group family vid calls or a Amazon tablet with its poor 2mp camera and not much bigger than a cell phone screen. I don't get the allure over a laptop. Maybe price? I use a PC mostly never tried one but my in laws were asking and without buying on I don't know. Think EZ and user friendly. Also I hear there is not stand alone PC program for alexa but a half backed windows store app. Sounds like its made to hook up to a phone or another amazon tablet which is restrictive.

Alexa Calling is harder to set up as it requires a mobile or internet-based phone number to be used in the Alexa Contact.

Hello Russell. I actually use this to control my aunt’s Fire TV Cube 2500 miles away. This video was made at my house as a simulation using TWO internet service providers AT&T and Comcast to simulate how it works: • An Echo Dot at my house, on my aunt's Alexa account, using MY Wi-Fi. • A Fire TV Cube at my aunt’s house, on her Alexa account, using HER Wi-Fi. I'm sorry for the confusion about the phone as it is only required to set up the Echo Dot at my house using my aunt’s Alexa account on my Wi-Fi. An Echo Dot requires a phone running the Alexa app for setup. The phone is not needed after the Echo Dot setup. The reason an Echo Dot can control a Fire TV is that an Echo Dot can be “linked” to a Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV Stick to control it in the Alexa app: More-> Settings-> TV & Video-> Fire TV-> Link Your Alexa Device This Echo Dot at my house is running on my aunt’s Alexa account and it sees the Fire TV as a device on her Alexa account over the Internet. For Alexa Video Calling, the person placing the call could have Alexa on their mobile phone. If you don't want to use Alexa Calling, there are ways to use Zoom with a Fire TV or an Apple TV. You can also FaceTime with an Apple TV device. frankseasytechcorner.substack.com/

I agree that this is a real problem. Up until mid-2023, I was able to offer a solution that could automatically join a scheduled Zoom Meeting. www.techenhancedlife.com/solutions/hands-free-zoom-meeting-joining-without-using-your-voice If you can use Alexa Calling instead of Zoom Meetings, there are a couple of options: If the person can speak an Alexa "Answer" command, group Alexa video calls are available. If they are unable to speak the Alexa "Answer" command, Alexa drop-in calls require no action on their part but are limited to one-to-one video calls

It definitely needs to be on her Google Calendar to be recognized by Alexa. If the Meeting ID and password are the same every week you could add a reoccurring meeting to her Google calendar. I assume she gets the meeting invite in Gmail so that you could copy it to her Google Calendar

@Technology4Seniors Thank you. And I really appreciate all your videos. They’re the reason we bought her the echo and it has been so incredibly helpful. I no longer have to call her several times a day to remind her to take meds. I set it up to be an Australian man’s voice and she doesn’t argue with him about taking pills, 😂. I can add things to her grocery list while I’m there, hands free, to access later when I’m shopping. And she never forgets appointments now. Plus she gives me weather updates when I get there since I left that feature up, she enjoys being able to help me with information instead of me doing everything for her. And horses are her favorite so I put about 50 or so horse pictures on rotation for the background pictures, she loves that.

The best luck I have had is to copy and paste the complete link, which includes the encrypted passcode, into the Google Calendar. Just ask someone to email you the complete link, with encrypted passcode if possible, not just the Meeting ID and Passcode separately.

Are you thinking of just the temperature or more details, such as icons for the sun, moon, clouds, rain, or snow?

It's pretty easy to get greedy with these kind of things. But, just the temperature, yeah, maybe sun/rain information would be good too. And, I was thinking, my calendar would be the next thing..... just the next 3-5 events. @@Technology4Seniors

That is a great question. You are right that the iPhone's Alexa app would need to be signed into the same account as the Fire TV. I gave this a quick test using my iPhone with my Fire TV and ran into a problem as Alexa thinks I have several "Frank's iOS devices"! I tried linking each of them to my Fire TV, but commands like "switch to HDMI 2" and I get "Alexa on this phone doesn't support that"

I tried it on Samsung TAB A8.4, a Samsung TAB S5e, and a iPad Pro 2018. It should work for you
