That place is amazing. I love their pot selection. It would be nice if there were more places like this or even half as good around the country, especially the midwest.

We had the cicadas here SE Indiana 3 years ago and more are coming next year. Looks like I won't be doing any deciduous air layers next year or they will get "Cicadad" 😂
I'm using the same colanders for my Japanese Black Pine air layers 😆 from the dollar store. They seem to be working pretty good though.

Oh man they really are a pain. They looooove my oak seedings and avocado trees mostly. They dig those things right up! I’ll have to sprinkle some coffee grounds around my garden and try it out as well. Good luck and let us know if you had any results from this.
@dreamingofbonsai I started this a month ago, and I have seen a big difference. The pots that I sprinkle grounds in don't get bothered at all

Must have been awesome to have Bjorn help work on one of your trees. It turned out great 👍🏽 I was surprised there weren't more people there for that experience.

Just to let you know, if you are not taking the tree always recover the area around the trunk with the needles and debris that was there before or you could kill the tree.

Great video, I have subscribed. I love looking for Yamadori - I have found a few myself recently to add to my collection
I heard a couple things, one to use steel washers over the seedlings or drill holes in a piece of metal and feed them through. As they grow they girdle themselves and send new roots above the washer or sheet metal (you have soil over the top of them). that helps them merge to a clump root. I think I will try both but will have to wait till maples are leafless again. Those rocks are great, is that limestone? All I have here in WA is lava rock.
I'm not sure what type of rock this is. I am going to hit them with the power washer and see if I can tell. The washer technique works you just have to be very patient. You can also drill a small hole in a piece of ceramic tile and do the same thing. Thanks for watching. It is doing good. I will try to add a photo. It is leafing out I will leave it buried for another year before I expose the roots
