Argo Factory Flat rubber tracks vs. AK Bush Tracks sidehilling
zhlédnutí 15KPřed 2 lety
Argo Factory tracks are for relatively flat terrain. That's why I call them "flat" or "flatlander" tracks. For some folks, they work just fine. Be cautious if you are bushwhacking and need to do a lot of sidehilling. You may want to consider a different set up, or simply take your Argo Rubber Tracks off. The Argo tire guides can damage your tires and the track can easily move against your tub. ...

The Argo factory Rubber flat track is just that, built for relatively flat ground. It is always more difficult to turn because of it's wide/sticky contact patch, but you have to be most cautious about it's "moveable" tire guide tips. Be very cautious when bushwhacking, especially sidehilling, and especially with a load of cargo. (This machine was empty). If you need to cross the unknown in the ...

Any track is better than no track, so some folks are able to get where they need to go with the Factory Argo Rubber track, however, (in my opinion) it is designed strictly for flat ground if possible (snow, and light mud/muskeg that is not to deep). Floating grass is okay as long as there is plenty of vegetation (Argo Rubber tracks do no swim). Like any track with moveable tire guide tips, it i...

Moveable tire guide tips are bad, especially when they get leveraged into tire sidewalls on minor unlevel ground conditions. Argo brand tracks are suited for soft, flat ground, not so much for everthing else. Instead, we run AK bush Tracks elevated belt tracks. They have stable fixed position guides and no “tips” to break or get shoved into sidewalls on uneven ground surfaces or sidehills. The ...

      They deliberately operate the Argo like only a moron would in order to try to promote their tracks. I've been running Argo's about the same amount you have and on Argo rubber tracks and have never been stuck in some of the shit they have , I have also never walked out of a set unless I did something very stupid. Their marketing strategy is simply ... Drive the Argo like only an idiot would and take the common sense right out of it. Guys have been running Argo rubber tracks for years and out in the middle of nowhere, had they operated like these guys do they wouldn't have gone out of sight of the trailer. These guys have a good track I just wish they would promote them without running down a competitors product.

      @@BlindmanValley nope, it takes 5 seconds to put the factory track in a bad spot. The point is to demonstrate what happens when you can’t control where you end up with your machine (it happens). This is the stuff that customers are NOT told about when sold the factory track. If you live and operate in the flat-land and have never had issues with ground-level hinges being damaged snd tearing out, tire guides breaking, tires being ruined, or driving out of your factory tracks, then you’re in acceptable terrain FOR the factory flat rubber tracks. We have to repair factory (and other aftermarket tracks) all the time. The goal is to get rid of the terrain limitations that the factory tracks and moveable-tire-guide-tips in general have. Live a little and you’ll understand why many folks need the Bush Tracks. If you don’t, then I’m happy for you. I will say that if you put any kind of real time/hrs on your factory tracks, then you’ll have accelerated sidewall wear on your made-in-CHINA tires. Don’t get your panties in a bunch lol. You’re still cool even though you have factory good-enough tracks.

    • @littlesusitna1

      track spacer in, 2” sag, tires indexed properly. Tire pressures per factory recommendation. I set up all track styles on machines every day and help folks repair their tracks, set them up correctly, and nurse them along until they can afford HD Alaska Bush Tracks. The factory tracks cause all kinds of drivetrain problems (even if you do set them up correctly ), they’re brutal on tires, and their performance vs. cost is marginal at best. Most guys will naturally defend what they have on their machines (including countless customers of mine who previously ran factory tracks until they saw the light). I don’t blame you.

      It looks like your track guides are set in the wrong holes for width if there aren’t two sets of holes you might have wrong tracks

    • @littlesusitna1
      @littlesusitna1 Před rokem

      @@daveszangulies9938they’re in the outer holes for 12” wide tires. The downside to a flat track that is built for flat terrain is exactly this…small uneven sections of terrain will cause the wide initial contact patch of the factory track to leverage-up. Because the guides are moveable, they also leverage up into the tires when this happens. This is why I call the factory track a flat-soft terrain track. Additionally, it requires snow, water, or mud to lubricate the tire guides/tires. Prolonged dry riding (especially at speed) will start to break down the tire sidewalls with the factory track. This video is simply driving over a very small ridge on the roadside. Trail conditions can be much worse than this.
