Saturn at Opposition: Don't believe the Media Hype!
Saturn reaches opposition on Saturday September 7th 2024, which means it is exactly in line with the earth & sun, meaning we get to see it at it's brightest & fullest. The headlines in the media, however, appear to give the impression that it's the only time of the year to see the planet, when it visible for half of the year, but is only at exact opposition on one day annually.

The annual Perseid Meteor Shower peaks between the 11th and 13th of August 2024. The best time to look is probably in the early hours of the 12 and the 13th. I witnessed my 2nd total solar eclipse over the city of Dallas in Texas, almost 7 years after seeing the Great American Eclipse of 2017 from Casper Wyoming.
