I am in no way affiliated to Microsoft and confess to sometimes disliking their attitude to customers. Having used both MS Office (now Microsoft 365) and LibreOffice (currently 24.2.5 for Windows 64-bit), there really is no comparison. Microsoft 365 is in a different league, much more powerful and polished. The cost of Microsoft 365 for a family subscription, in which 5 people have access to the full suite, is quite reasonable. Although the LibreOffice suite of applications is free, and it offers some good points, in no way is it close to Microsoft 365's functionality, speed and ease of use. I use LibreOffice because I like trying out different applications, but when I run into a problem with it that takes too much time to resolve, I immediately go to 365 for the solution.

Jeff, you wouldn't want to buy ameriDroid if 15% gross margin is too little for you. 😅 We cut it too close to the bone to give our customers a great deal in a very competitive market while also providing exceptional customer service. We're definitely not getting rich doing this. 🙂
😩 Is it sustainable? Offering great service is adding value. 15% margin on a $100 sale is $13. Keep your lights on and pay your staff a fair wage... $13 doesn't go far. How do we maintain the level of service, and the level of integrity, while still being able to ensure our employees are fairly compensated and feel appreciated? These are things the consumers often forget when shopping around for the lowest price. But it's a very real challenge for us business owners. How are you overcoming it? My technique is to sell services that carry a very high margin. This allows me to offer excellent service to the customer purchasing it, but gives me the financial freedom to also care for "the little guy" too.
@@LinuxTechShow We believe we are at a sustainable level. We rely on a lot of automation on the back office side and high volumes to keep our costs down, plus we cut our overhead by sharing those costs with another business run out of the same facility.
NOW you're talking. This is the way. Share resources, share staff. Category5 + NEMS Linux + Nip it in the Bot + all my other adventures... this is how we survive and ensure we're offering diverse services to keep the lights on when any one of our ventures struggle.
VPN for the win. I've been doing this since getting hit by a zero-day on RDP. There are newer options that also provide limited access to the network depending on the user's permissions. BTW, that zero-day also hastened my 100% switch to Linux.
@@Ameridroid1 I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way, but glad you learned all the same. Fortunately I had the opportunity as a young tech to learn from a few customers who thought they knew better and could "do it cheaper": I was there to pick up the pieces. So my own infrastructure has always been a bit ahead of the curve as far as "security first" goes (knock on wood).

One thing that has annoyed me when I first heard the term "cloud computing" was thinking they just relabeled and updated the concept of a "mainframe", which has been around since the beginning of the commercial computing revolution. Simpler forms of cloud computing are just an Internet-enabled NAS.
@@Ameridroid1 💯 to those of us who have been in the industry for 15 or more years, it's not a paradigm shift whatsoever. Just a faster uplink, faster professor and larger capacity: a natural evolution, not a shift.
How do I give my self op on it? And how do I install mods

@@FinnNowels I was going to say, didn't you watch the video? 😄
Nice video! Been thinking about getting one of these, was hoping it could do active PoE in as well as active PoE out but it can't. Can only do passive PoE in. Also, don't want to be that guy to complain but was kind of thinking your ratio on your ULTRAMIZER PRO with the fast attack is a bit hard on the ears when it engages, with headphones at least. Just my perspective.
Is 2000mah the maximum you can get?
I'm curious if the Raspberry Pi 4 is required, especially with 8gb of ram. I've got a 3 b+ and I'd love to be able to support a public server for me and my friends (6 of us) including mods and shaders (I'm not sure if that requires more compute power in this case).
@@just8bits29 The minimum requirements are clearly outlined on the GitHub Readme. The Raspberry Pi 3 B+ is too underpowered: You'd never be able to enjoy the gameplay with all the lag.

Apple added USB C because of EU regulation and not UK regulation. Jeff keeps saying North American but I get the feeling he means US when making negative comments.
Thanks for the clarifications. Yeah, I (Robbie) will often make the EU-vs-UK error, but hopefully you get what I mean. North American, however, could include Canada. We certainly see a lot of the same disposable mindset around tech north of the border.

Hello Robbie Ferguson, I have a problem with updating to the new version. I am currently on version 1.20.4, but I would like to update to version 1.21. When I pressed Enter at the splash screen, I received the following message: "Your installed version of Java (17) can only support up to Minecraft 1.20.4. To install a newer version of Minecraft, please see the Pinecraft documentation to obtain the recommended Base OS." Is there any guide available, or could someone help me with this? Thank you very much for your informative videos, and I wish you all the best. Best regards, Sven

GREAT tip, but in using Handbrake PORTABLE, the File's structure differs as shown. Guess I better actually INSTALLING Handbrake, huh? :-)))
Things changed a lot last years, and it change brand by brand too. SD Cards used to be more robust since they have more space for components and temp dissipation. And they used to have better capacity at some time in history since they had more space for chips. but now the microSD has the same capacity and speeds. I'm into this dilema too. I just got a new reflex camera, and is SD, should I get a full SD or microSD with adapter? Why high end manufacturers still shipping their cameras with SD card slot, instead of switching to microSD if is the same thing? Also, did you know that high end mainboards (motherboards) designers put the bridh (pci lane controllers) the nearest possibel to the slot since the shorter the path to the lane makes difference in speed (at nanoseconds I guess). and how a dirty contact can affect performance too? Well thats the microSD to SD adapter, is contact that touchs the mini contacts on microsd and put them on the SD size. so you add another "touch" contact to the card before getting to the actual port. Some old school photography forums, talked about that the microsd actually is not hold in place by anything inside the adapter. The microSD port has a "click" but the adapter not. So if you have a device that will be on the move, a card that internally can move is not ideal. So, I still cant decide. My only advantage to go with a microSD is that I have slot and readers of microsd on my laptops. but the camera is wifi and probably not taking the memory out much...
Thanks!🤩

Hello Robbie Ferguson, First of all, thank you for your pleasant and constructive videos. I have a question regarding the Minecraft update 1.21. Is it possible to upgrade a Minecraft server to 1.21 on Ubuntu Linux with Pinecraft Server Upgrade for Raspberry Pi 5? Thank you in advance.
now do how to get movies you bought from vudu and download on a usb or dvd so you can have what you bought.
hey how do i autosave the server
Hey, quick question: where exactly is this «getting started» guide you keep mentioning? I mean, if it was important, wouldn't it be tattooed on my forehead by now? ;-) Clearly you're developing it _wrong_ … :-) It's ridiculous some of the explanations from people who didn't even _attempt_ to read any instructions.
The problem I see with it is that the person who logs in today and does this to the developer doesn't realize that 10,000 people have done the same thing before them. So the devs / support team are exasperated, leading to a terse "RTFM!" We wrote the manual to make it so people don't have to ask this question, after all. We don't intend to be brusque, but it's a very real problem. Perhaps this is where AI can really excel: Use chat logs as the training data where the devs / support answered user questions, and then allow it to monitor for those same questions again and again and provide a GPT chat-style reply (as opposed to a verbatim reply).
Regarding terms and conditions, copy and paste it into AI and ask it for a TL;DR summary. Or, at least ask AI "is there any reason why I shouldn't agree to this?"
Actually, you don't even need to copy and paste the terms and conditions. You can just ask AI something like "Is there any reason I shouldn't agree to CZcams's Terms and Conditions?"
That's really clever, but also a wee bit frightening: What if Google's AI that you're using to summarize the CZcams TOU comes back with "Nope: Nothing to be wary of here - just accept it. Trust me." ? 😬
I remember I installed something back when I still used windows 20 years ago. When the installer came to the EULA, the text said exactly this: «Have some EULA, sure.» :-)
@@LinuxTechShow Don't use Google's AI. Everybody knows that. 🙂
czcams.com/video/FiN66LWZs9k/video.htmlsi=21HzBgy9BFTOL8sa&t=706 Bless you, Jeff!
Some Porsche headlamps are popular amongst thieves because they emit light in the proper frequencies and efficiencies plus have advanced cooling. These are often used to grow certain indoor crops that might end up getting transported using the Airtag method mentioned in the last episode...
I just bought a 3 pack of grow lights for my indoor herb garden (basil, thyme, oregano, etc.) for $20 Prime deal. Sad to think someone would go to all the effort to steal headlamps from a luxury vehicle to save $20. But that's some serious dedication to "maker tech" there, so I have to give them props for their innovative "herb growth" setup. 😂
“It is human nature to be nefarious?” Wow, I thought I hated the human race..
Wow, a truly negative episode. Not unfounded mind you, just dark.
Of course, our intention isn't to be negative... but real, honest, and a little raw. Unfortunately, seeing into my heart may be dark at times, but it all comes from a place of good intentions. 😔
So Jeff, about "not doing Starbucks"? We have our favorite specialty local/regional coffee shops that we frequent 🙂 We count on our loyal customers to know where to get quality SBCs and home automation products that don't require proprietary servers (we're looking at you, Wyze), and we're super thankful for those customers. 😄 Gotta check with our marketing team to make sure I did that right...
Keep in mind, too, that I've "hacked" the firmware (with one Wyze themselves provided) that gives me RTSP support on the WyzeCam, and have them connected to our real surveillance DVR (via RTSP) - so it's not all proprietary if you know your way around. But easy for novice users who may not know how to do such things. What would you recommend in place of the Wyze devices?
@@LinuxTechShow There are quite a few affordable cameras that do RTSP out-of-the-box.
I have a fix for needing so many cameras. Move to a better neighborhood. 😮
Fair enough. But a $20 camera is sure a lot easier to swallow than moving further north... the commute is already long enough 🙃
We timed that ameriDroid subscription notification to Jeff just right -- he got it during the drive! Glad to hear our staff are doing their jobs. LOL!!
Nailed it! 😅

That Airtag theory is crazy... We totally could see this as a thing.
