I'm pretty sure that a sweep will get very close to the peak frequency. But in my personal opinion, I think when you increase the wattage to the subs, the peak will change 👍

A sweep track can be useful to people who don't have any idea of where the peak freq., might be. But most people use freq. sweeps the wrong way. By doing them @ to high of a volume, which can damage your equipment. Also freq. sweeps can show a false peak, and can also show a different peak every time= they can be very inconsistent. If you were to use a freq. sweep, i would do them approx. @ half volume, like if your max you ever turn your volume to is 40, for a freq. sweep, just turn the volume to 20. This should give you a general idea, unless your 1st test shows a peak @ 35Hz, the 2cnd test shows 40Hz, and 3rd test shows 45Hz. Then @ least you will know your systems sweet spot is 35 to 45Hz. Then you can use that information, to then use test tones from ( 30 to 50Hz ) 5Hz below, and 5Hz above those 3 different peaks. Now when testing the individual test tones, do what the guy in this video did= increase your volume to approx. 70%, and play all test tones for the same duration= Like if you play the 1st test tone for 3 seconds then pause it, do that for every freq., you test, then write the score down. Once you find the freq. with the highest score, go back to that freq., and crank it up, write the score down, then do the same thing 1Hz Lower, and 1Hz higher, to see if the peak changed @ max volume, cause it often can, but usually only by 1Hz either way. Remember to always have everything the same, when testing, if you want consistent results, only ever changing 1 thing @ a time, to see if it helps, or hurts, the score. Hope this help's?

@@956Bassaddict - I could tell that you got flustered a little, when the meter wouldn't connect with the laptop, it was hot out, and the meter kept shutting off, and you had to hurry around real fast, with the phone in your hand while recording. You did much better than i would have done. I get flustered easily when things don't go as planned, and i can't function. Then i just start cussing, and throwing things😁😆😂. You my friend, are much more calmer, than i. You did a great job, all things considered. Also, when you re-meter, with your SPL meter way high up in the kick, try 36, 37, and 38Hz, @ about 70% volume, and hold each tone, for about 3 seconds each time, to let the meter read the pressure more accurately/consistantely. Then after you find out which freq. Was loudest, play that freq., full out!

@@956Bassaddict -To give you an idea, how good your music score, with the meter on the glass was of a 160.3 i think? There was a ( 12 ) - 18 inch, 6th order build, with ( 12 ) - Incriminator Audio ix6 amps= about 7 or 8k per amp, @ The 2024 Slam show in Indy, this last weekend. He did a 161.89 Db on music, on the glass, both doors open, so your only 1.5 Db off of his 12- 18s!

I’ve got a sundown sia 3500 and on a burp Ive clamped 4200 several times (I thought it was a fluke) which is way more than I expected. Are burps similar to when people to the dynamic test when they dyno amps? A quick burst of power before the amp’s smart circuitry is able to throttle it down?

I know the amp showed 9200 watts on the amm-1. But only did a 155db. When I test those subwoofers with my Crescendos amps, I clamp 9200 watts with both amps combined and did a 160db

I use the clipping light to set the gain. But on the big boss 3k amp I was having a hard time trying to make the clipping light to work. Maybe something is wrong with the clipping light on my amp

My friend, I was guessing too much with the volume on the head unit with the amp at 1/4 ohm , I ended up doing 9 burps to get those numbers, because the amp was going into protection trying to make over 10k. I'm pretty sure if I get a better plan to do the same test again I can get a way better db average, is the first time I try to do that test on that amp wire to 0.25 ohm. 👍🔈

@@956Bassaddict - Oh, i know how touchy an amp is, about going into protection mode, while being wired @ a 1/4 ohm. What i found through testing @ 1/4 ohm, i had to find the volume where the amp would protect @, then reset the amp, and @ that same volume i had to slow roll the bass knob, like it would take around 15 seconds, per freq./burp, to get best scores. I kept ✔️ing the amp to see if it was getting too hot. But this is flirting with poss. Blowing the amp, so proceed with caution/@ your own risk! Also, if your Bass knob can reach back to the rear, so you can watch your Amm-1 and slow roll it till you reach 8,800 to 9k, then just stop, so the amp won't protect. This could possibly give you the best/most consistant scores. Also, i think in your prior PD testing= with the HC's, you closed the door, and had the window down, to get better scores @ 25, and 20Hz. These 2 things would get you an even higher PD average score!

@evilinside5984 I was getting frustrated that I forgot to close the door on 25hz and 20hz. Next time, I try the bc5500d. I will do the burps watching the watts on the amm-1 like you said to get better results 👍

So far, the 3.9 can be louder than the 4.11 with less power, but the 3.9 has a 3" voice coil rated to 2500 watts rms, and the 4.11 has a 4" voice coil rated to 4500 watts rms. I will run big power to the 3.9 to see if it can beat the 4.11. The best spl score I got with the 4.11 was 164.22 on the kick with 40k watts. 👍🔈🔉🔊

Definitely! I know that they can do a better spl number, but it is hard to control the power of the amplifier wire to 0.25 ohm. I know the amp can deliver 8600 watts before getting into protection. 👍🔉

It will probably be enough power, but if you can try to get the 5k, it is better to have extra power or if you want to upgrade your subwoofers in the future. 👍🔈🔊🔉

@joshuakemp1439- If your talking about the "Smart type technology" to help with impedance rise, then no, Rockford Fosgate, and JL Audio had amplifiers that made the same power @ different impedances, years before Taramps.

@rubenavila8012 I did a video with 2 taramps smart 8k wire to 2 ohms each, and they did great. I wire a single smart 8k at 1 ohm on the 4.11 neos and is powerful enough to move those subwoofers. My smart 8ks are the 1 to 2 ohms version, the lowest i have wired those amplifiers was 0.8 ohms one on each 4.11 they work great they not even get hot at all. 👍🔉🔊🔈

@evilinside5984 Yup, my uncle loves his system. That amp is no joke. Is too much amp for those 10" skar subs. Get one it works great, i want to break in the subs before I put big power on them. I'm also anxious to see what the subs can do. 🔉🔊🔈

@@956Bassaddict- The best sounding Skar Audio subwoofer's are there VXF= 1,500 watts R.M.S., and 3,000 watts peak, per subwoofer. A pair of the VXF 12s, or 15s, in D2 coils=1/2 ohm per pair= perfect match to that Big Boss 3 Bass amplifier! Also these VXF hit the Low Lows the best out of the Skar subwoofers as well. They sound great in sealed, ported, 4th order, and 6th order bandpass, very versatile, a very good value vs performance ratio.

I bought the basshead garage power watt meter the other week and love it, so much more convenient that the amm-1 you can install on your dash and has a better looking screen.

@josephhammond2557- If used @ 1 ohm, then the regular= full range Taramps Smart amplifiers= (1 ohm stable), are the way to go. If wiring to 1/2 ohm, the Big Boss Bass, or even the Smart Bass amplifiers= (1/2 ohm stable), are the way to go. Many system's while playing music have 4x impedance rise. If this is the case, then a Big Boss Bass 5k, wired @ 1/2 of an ohm, would still produce rated power, rising to 2 ohms, vs a Regular=full range Smart 5k wired to 1 ohm, if the same 4x impedance rise occurred= 4 ohm power= 3k. An Amp Dyno is NOT a speaker, so just because the regular= full range Taramps Smart amplifiers show better on the amp dyno, doesn't make them better on a speaker. As most systems average 2x to 4x impedance rise as music is playing.
