      I did do several hand loads for this rifle, unfortunetly I moved out of state and had to put several projects on the back burner. So yes, it did shoot better but I still want to fine tune a bit more.

    Thank you! Finally somebody explained it correctly.... the adj knob turned CCW (left) opens the gas VENTING port to bleed off more gas from the piston for less operating pressure. Turning the knob CW (right) closes the gas pressure venting port to the atmosphere and lets more or all the barrel gas pressure operate the piston.

      Definitely not arguing the logic with the thinner strap that does make perfect sense I've had many years with a ruck on my back in the military and have found that shouldering a weapon can be tough at times with bulkyer gear. I had one of these. Sold it for something larger. Actual capacity was too small for what I needed it to be but it's built too heavy (if that makes sense) for using it as a real daypack. The suspension isn't good enough for carrying real weight either. Rather go up to a true frame. My final recommendation is stop strapping shit to the outside and buy a bag around 20L, 40L, and 60L+ with the latter two having a real frame of some kind.

    • @Welder6131
      @Welder6131 Před měsícem

      Thanks for the thoughts, I do have several packs with frames all being larger packs. I feel this is more than adequate for a daypack as it easily holds 30L + and the aluminum frame does add support for sure. As for the addition of pouches to the pals webbing I think that is what makes this a versatile pack depending on the needs of the trip. Thanks for commenting.

    Good job , sold mine and went smaller !! And yes the straps do suck , changed mine out to some old ALICE LC2 straps I had from WAYYYYYY back in the day. So JMHO the bigger the pack ,the more crap you gonna fill it with, it's just human nature , best to pack whatever you "think" you need and then hit the trail. Not the yard or the living room, I mean trail. Nature will take it's course and you will either get really good at rucking a heavy load , or your pack will get lighter. Cheers !! I’ve owned my RDB since 2018 and I was neglecting my AR’s so I took them out a couple times just to miss my RDB. as long as you know about the gas system adjustments, this gun is fun and reliable. I’ve outfitted my RDB with the pad for cheek rest, Kel-tec forend, magwell extended well, qb mount on forend, Haga Defense butt stock and a small vertical grip. I had the primary arms acss etched radical optic with a three times magnifier behind it, but with the length of pull it was not ideal for I relief and I went back to a hollow Sun solar, powered red dot.

    Just my opinion . But I'd leave the polishing compound on the bolt and run it through the receiver several times to lap the guide rails a bit . I read the book 93 Kills about USMC Scout/Sniper Carlos Hathcock . He used lapping compound to slick up the bolt and action of his bolt action rifles to butter smoothness . I've done the same on every bolt action rifles I've ever owned .

    Use safety flag instead of finger to test for round in chamber. There are + and - marks on picatinny rail. Roll nob toward + allows more gas to get to piston, roll nob toward - reduces gas to piston. I found setting gas with the lightest ball m193 at 55 grains works best. If you adjust with 77 grain ball, you will under gas the piston for lighter loads. Once you find the load that gives you the best group and can get reliably you can reset the gas for that ammo to give you reliable cycling with the softest recoil.

I have used the chamber flag not only to prove the gun is properly cleared and safe at the rang but also to verify that there is no longer an obstruction in the chamber area after clearing a jam. If the flag goes in the chamber happy days. If the bolt accidently closes on your finger while checking for an obstruction it is going to affect your groups for a while :(, however if it closes on the flag no harm :)

    You're the first channel I've seen that does closeups like this. I really appreciated being able to see up close, even if the camera was focus breathing a bit. (A quick fix to that is when to put your whole palm behind the part you're wanting to highlight. That gives the camera's focus sensor something [bigger] to lock onto.) Also thank you for the non-crotch shot! 🤣 PS: I saw in another comment you're a fabricator and designer by profession. A thought [that you likely have had]: with your specialized knowledge, detailed shots, and love of guns, you could find a niche in CZcams and make a living off just videos. I mean kids review MAKEUP and make $10k a month! Like I said: I'm not familiar with anyone else doing detailed videos like this. And even if so, you have a unique mix that might do *really* well. With a tripod, solid (white?) background, and a couple nice LED lights, your shots-and perhaps channel-would go to the next level.

    You may want to look into an ejection port cover. There's a really basic 3D printable one that's basically just a piece of plastic that fits into the holes on the butt stock. You can find the design with a simple google search. I bought a different ejection port cover on etsy that uses an AR ejection port cover, but I don't really recommend it. Mine was falling apart where it screws in, but I just put a ton of superglue on it to hold it together. If a bunch of mud or dirt somehow gets in through the ejection port, it can prevent the bolt from moving all the way back. Not sure what role this rifle fits for you, but it's a super easy solution to just print that 3D ejection port cover if you were interested. edit: I guess you wouldn't be able to put the cover on your butt stock actually, unless maybe you drilled some holes in the new butt stock.. so yeah, never mind.. I mean, you probably don't need an ejection port cover anyway, I just saw torture test videos, and decided to put one on mine. No one sells the ejection port covers anymore though, you gotta make one yourself.

      @@Welder6131 I put magnets on my AR9 and immediately noticed a difference, the casings turn black at the tip from the chamber not opening immediately, it's kind of like a delayed blowback like the MP5, Scorpion and CMMG have, only it's alot cheaper, I can't wait to see if this works with my RDB, I might even try it with my KSG

      @@Welder6131 if there was a way to mount magnets and have them actually touch the bolt but not stop it completely, that would probably work even better but the only way to do that would be to take a dremel to the upper and I'm not comfortable drilling into my guns lol, if you could do this to a 3D printed gun and make little spots for the magnets to fit in to that would be even better, I need to invest in a 3D printer
