Rare! Go inside a Coast Guard rescue hovercraft!
The most unique vessels in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet are its hovercraft. There are 4 hovercraft in the fleet -- two are based in Eastern Canada, and two are based in British Columbia.
We recently had the privilege to go aboard the Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft Moytel when it was in Victoria, British Columbia, and we had the pleasure to speak with Gary Nolan, the First Officer on CCGS Moytel.
In this video you will hear about the capabilities of the hovercraft Moytel, whose primary role is Search and Rescue (SAR). The hovercraft can do a multitude of secondary roles, and you'll hear all about them and how a hovercraft operates in this video.
I want to thank Gary Nolan of the Canadian Coast Guard for his time and kindness to tour us on the hovercraft Moytel.

I completely agree. It's kind of a travesty that it's taking so long for the SAR community to get such sensors. I've often joked that news channel helicopters have more sensor capability than RCAF SAR aircraft do at the moment! But there is good news -- the CH-149 Cormorant is getting a mid-life upgrade that will give it a lot of sensor capability; and I've chat with sensor operators for the CC-295 and they have said the sensors are amazing, so that's great to hear. I am confident they will make a big difference once operational.

After 22+ years of service in the army, I must agree with Joetey that this young lad has very good potential in becoming a very good leader/commanding officer in the future. In my career, I have witnessed people in leadership positions, and to be honest, in my opinion, and many brothers in arms, we would be like “how the f*** did they get here “, but also many great leaders! And, from my standpoint/opinion, this young man, has very good leadership qualities.

The Kingfisher should never have been chosen as replacement for FWSAR. Once again, the Canadian Government messed up. Having a 2-3 year "temporary deployment" to cover the region speaks volumes to how poorly executed their plan was...

Before the woke Liberals came to power, men were high and tight, and beards only if medically warranted. I think it was different on Navy ships. Though the policy is starting to re-introduce much stricter rules, walk around any base, and you'll see CWO's with beards down to their collar-bone; men with buns; multi-colored hair way below the shoulder, three-days growth, hair not clean or trimmed. Pant legs not bloused; lousy deportment, in a word - shabby. Thanks Justin.

I don’t know if his Gramps is still living, if he is the three of them should sit down and write their stories. Three generations flying the same plane. Bloody amazing. He forgot palletized missiles.
