What is Orson Welles' Final Film?
zhlédnutí 424Před 2 lety
More than just a frozen pea ad narrator or drunken Paul Masson wine spokesman (although he may not have even been drunk at all), Orson Welles is a massive figure in pop culture. Everyone knows what his first film is, Citizen Kane, but what exactly his final film is can be debated. Here, I take a look at the contenders for the titles and where I end up.

The Brian's Back Trilogy - The Story of Brian Wilson's 70s Masterpieces
zhlédnutí 70KPřed 4 lety
The Brian Wilson story often ends in the 1960s, but in the next decade he created a trio of albums, 15 Big Ones, The Beach Boys Love You, and Adult/Child(unreleased), that are considered by some fans to be their favorite of his work.
Randy Newman's Disdain for Everyone is What Makes Him Great

In this video, I take a look at Randy Newman's career, his flirting with success, and why his songwriting viewpoints might be the reason behind it. Songs included: I Love LA Randy Newman Trouble in Paradise 1983 Short People Randy Newman Little Criminals 1977 My Life is Good Randy Newman Trouble in Paradise 1983 Birmingham Randy Newman Good Old Boys 1974 Rednecks Randy Newman Good Old Boys 1974...
I’d challenge them in a heartbeat.
Advocating for social causes, a code word for: wasting my precious time trying to change the world when I could be writing great songs!
im a bit late but this little miniseries was AMAZING i loved every part and it helped me catch up on some weezer lore 🙏🏽 thank u
An excellent video essay. Thank you.
I didn’t care much for The Beach Boys growing up, although the neighbor boy did. I recently received from CZcams a playlist made up of what I have been listening to for the last 3 months or so and lo and behold it heavily features The Beach Boys. I notice references to Brian Wilson so many times when listening to other music he has influenced. Deep respect for the legend that is Brian Wilson.
Hash Pipe is a rip off of ‘Shot Himself Up’ by The Shods
those are 3 solid albums - i dont care what anyone says. with Love You obviously being the stand out.
I thought I was the only one who loved this! I loved the album so much I covered the entire album. What a ! czcams.com/play/OLAK5uy_mOcnVxWvHI1pDueumVjbOM_0l79Gn5wEQ.html&si=QZS8melv_qA50OlW
“I don’t like Mike Love. Not at all.” 😂
The voice-over on this is horrendous.
“It’s Over Now” is playing too slowly. You can tell by Carl’s voice. This draggy version first showed up on a box set CD release a good while ago…the “Good Vibrations” box I believe.
Dude awesome job. Always hoped someone could do a deep dive on homie / rcb. I would dare to say this is rivers smile era. Produced right, homie would have been better than Pinkerton to me.
Even in his darkest hour Rivers Cuomo was creating. Cheers to this kind of will
The look on Brian's face at 17:42 alone begs for another video on his 1980s output. What a rough life, I'm glad he eventually found some stability in it.
Rosemary may be pretty droning, but it isn't one chord. It feels that way
04:08 "wHiTe aMEriCa"? What, if it was filmed in India would you say "Brown India" because a portion of their population has lighter skin?
Where did you find all those homie live tracks?
*Promosm* 🌹
These videos are just superb! Great channel, keep it up.
The Vampires 🧛♂️ ✌️🤘🏴🇦🇺
6:48 notice how well spoken Brian was in 1976… Gene Landy ended up damaging his brain
My understanding is that slurred speech is a side effect of the medication he uses
Brian did plenty of work between 67 and 76,
Love You will Forever be THE last great BB l.p• 💯
i wish mike and brian got along better :/
None of those albums are close to masterpieces.
Love You is a masterpiece, of course it is Adult/Child probably just an average album. 15 Big Ones isn't a masterpiece at all. I just pick like 4 songs from it.
love you is close to a masterpiece honestly.
Hey.. This guy just called Brian Wilson,s songs juvenile. Is this critic serious. Is he even a music critic or is it just one persons mediocre opinión. Nobody else can produce quality music like Brian Wilson. Of course there are one or two on a similar level but they are not artists of Wilson,s calibre. Obviously Ive no time for 99% of music critics as I have yet to meet a qualified one. In my opinión, a music critic is at best, a sports journalist who writes about music to sell adverts space in a news paper. It's just finances. It certainly is not his knowledge of music. If it was, he would be out there playing music. He cannot even do that so the music critic fills space and a music critic is one unqualified sports journalist,s opinion, which is worthless.
beautifully done.
With a few songs off of L.A. Light I find the post Holland BBoys material horrible. Poor songwriting and shoddy production.
where did you find that video of rivers at 4:33, and the picture of brian at 4:19?
In my humble opinion, The Beach Boys Love You kicks the shit out of anything Brian did in the 60s
All the best channels only have around 400 subscribers 10:43 12:26
The Beach Boys Love You is such an incredible album. It just grows and grows on you.
“Let’s put our hearts together” is so special to me
I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m looking for a video similar to this that someone made about “the lost years” of Brian Wilson. It was 28 minutes and I can’t find it anywhere
All Who ideas were Townshend ideas
Recognition for American Spring please! It's up there with any album from the Beach Boys in the 70's.
Yes! I was glad to see it on streaming for a couple days but it seems to have been taken off. Would love a box set by Omnivore Records or similar label.
It was a very good break from Yoyo for John. At least he got to smile again with friends who really enjoyed his company. And, Yoyo equally, got her Funtime from John.
Wow bald Mike looking cool with a nice cap on his bald head
There's a theory that some people who become overweight later in life are fearful and adding the weight as protection.
I'm not sure why, but just seeing Mike Love's face triggers a negative response in me, but I guess he was a good singer.
I hate em as much as you but without him, the beach boys themselves and the songs we’ve all come to love, probably wouldn’t sound the same
So I guess, no biopic would ever make it pass Apple.
Probably not one worth watching, at least for many years.

I’m here to figure out what Hashpipe came from. Was there a lotta tension with Geffen at that time, bc River’s lyrics sound like he feels like a gay prostitute for the music industry. I.E. he’s taking it up the ass. Listen to his “uhh’s”, they’re grunts of pain. Chorus He is saying “I got my Ass Wide” n not “eyes wide”. That one line is debated. I’m a professional singer, he pronounces ass, not Eyes but it’s like it’s intentionally disguised as both. There’s other times I clearly hear ass pipe, no ‘H’, through a vocal filter n then full ‘H’ on the “Hashpipe”.
Mike could play a bit of sax. He could thus probably read music and he’s in a 60’s guitar/piano based rock group. He should have had the discipline to at least learn some basic guitar chords so he could have tried his hand at writing the music to his own songs instead of complaining about the newer late 60’s drug culture direction of Brian and his artsy newer friends.
Brilliant and imperative Well researched. Excellent narrative.

Damn Ralph. Let people tell the story. Art is for sharing
The 18 month "Lost Weekend" produced some of Lennon's best solo albums and songs including the transcendental "#9 Dream".
I’m so happy i found this channel!!
Thank you!
I have the adult child and Brian loves you bootlegs on vinyl. The Brian loves you album is full of demos of the BBs love you tracks.
11:39...realistically, how much cocaine do you think was done between the 3 of them ?
Was Danny Ackroyd a coke guy too?
@@Noah1997callahan absolutely....dude cocaine fueled the writers room and dressing rooms of SNL all through the 70s-80s.
10:07.... Mike Love looks like (from behind and the way he's moving) if Mick Jagger had raided Elton John's closet before a show. hahahaha
I actually kinda dig the grand wizard showman era of Mike haha
where’d you find your images for this? i haven’t seen many of these before
