Blade 4503d Flies Again🤯 #blade #rc
zhlédnutí 23Před dnem
Today I flew my old ready to fly Blade 4503d after years of it sitting in storage due to a defective scroll wheel on the Spektrum Dx6i it came with. I learned to fly collective pitch on a Blade SR and this Blade 4503d. I had bound it to my Spektrum Dx7s, but I never got around to making the mechanical and radio adjustments to make it flight worthy. I finally got a new board installed and the Dx...

Tonight I am testing out the Hot Racing front suspension limiting straps and aluminum rear axle that I added to this truck over the summer. I am running it on 4s for a couple reasons. I needed to run these batteries, since they haven’t been run in over a year and I wanted to take it easy on that new aluminum rear axle that I had to grind material off the inside of the pumpkin due to binding. Landing is much smoother when you cut throttle with hold about a foot to half foot in mid air
Yeah, you are right about that now that I think about it. I should probably try that. I have always landed helis this way. Change is hard I suppose 🤪.
Happen to know what shocks were on this?
They are the aluminum upgrade shocks Vaterra offered for this rig.
Did you have to make any changes to get yours to spool up so fast. Mine seems to take forever to spool up to full head speed
@@veedubin187 Mine does take a while too. I think it’s a safety feature programmed into the flybarless control unit. I compensate for this by throttling up a bit faster than I initially did on my first few flights with this heli.
As a retired Naval Aircrewman, these heli’s sound like their NR is about 7X faster than needed.
I'm not sure if that's necessarily the case, but these older electric RC helicopters are a lot louder then my newer Blade 360 CFX and Blade Fusion 360. This Blade 4503d is about 15 years old. The newer RC helis have a much quieter drivetrain and the tail belt noise is much more subdued. Thanks for your service. I spent 6 years in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. I worked back shop on the TF39(old C-5 Engines).
👍
👍
👍👌
Rear end looks to stiff, one of the coolest things about these trucks is watching the suspension , just my opinion tho, front looks great
Thanks, after watching this video back as I was uploading it I was thinking I might need to soften the rear suspension a bit. I'm going to run it on 6s next time and see if the extra power sinks the rear end more. The rig was quite underwhelming on 4s.
lol…you’re not wrong 🤣
It turns left too
I’m Guessing you’re doing that one handed?
Not exactly, I have a phone mount on the bottom of my transmitter, which works great for recording regular videos. To record a short I turn the transmitter on its side. Steering is a little tricky, since the wheel is facing the ground. It’s totally manageable though😁.
Exelent thank you for video traxxas erevo it s good Merci beaucoup on aime le erevo depuis la france 👍
Thanks, it’s a fantastic rig😃
I think I’m gonna paint the back lights red with some type of light paint
@@HellsinkyNuminatiCeo Yeah, I was thinking of doing something like that to mind as well.
@@beyondthebluerc1I bet orange and red sharpies would do the trick
@@HellsinkyNuminatiCeo Definitely, fine point sharpies would work good too I 🤔 think.
Glad to have ordered one but red tail lights is kinda depressing
Yup😩
My first project in electronic engineering will be a drone style helicopter. Nice work!
@@Critikal4k Thanks, it’s tedious work but is definitely rewarding when you see the finished product😀.
Did you put an all metal spur kit in it? And do you have to if yiu go brushless?
I didn't install a metal spur gear. You really don't have too, however I did swap out the plastic motor mount for a Hot Racing aluminum motor mount. That was one of the first upgrades I did and helps a lot with cooling. If you go brushless I would recommend fans for the motor and ESC.
Did you install the kit while building or after
I installed the light kit after I had already built the model. I have the Lego UCS X-Wing and the Light my Bricks light kit for that model as well. I haven't built the X-Wing yet, but I am thinking of installing the light kit as I build this time.
I just got mine from eBay for $379.98
Can’t believe an adult man is playing with toys, get a life n a wife too dude pathetic
Don’t know if they are still available but for foam I used to use ats carbon pre mounted wheels on my 80mph 4tec
Thanks, I will definitely look into that.
Can you plz send me a picture of how the links go? I am lost right now would really appreciate it.
Dude! love all the hot racing aluminum parts. They make good stuff and not really to crazy on the cost. But the next $ you should put in that car should be to replace all the traxxas electronics Anyway just my opinion. Gotta give to traxxas on that body though looks Schweet!!!!
Thanks, I agree there are better electronics out there. I have to admit though that switching out the stock radio and receiver to a Spektrum receiver, installing it in the car and binding it to my Spektrum Dx5 Rugged was hands down the best upgrade I have done so far. The throttle response, steering and braking has vastly improved becoming smoother and more responsive. The only thing holding this car back are the stock tires. The last time I looked there weren't any foam tires that would fit the stock body. I'm definitely inspired to start looking again though.
Try the copperheads on there. Incredible difference. Much more planted and they’re lighter so the truck just feels more nimble. Doesn’t roll nearly as much. Lowest shock preset on the arms let it slide really well on asphalt Copperheads and variable dampening kit, nobody mentions the VDK kit but it’s also incredible (and cheap)
@@V8chump Nice, I will definitely look into that!
Do you have a link for springs?
Unfortunately, they are sold out on Hot Racing's web site right now.
Should of used a two blade heli like the actual Bell 222 used for Airwolf.
Yeah, I wanted to put my Blade Fusion in this Fuselage, but it wouldn't fit. I could have put my old Blade 4503d in , but it has a fly bar and wouldn't look right in this Airwolf fuselage.
Thanks for the reminder. Much appreciated.
@@SamsTwn40 No problem…radio works great now😀
Very nice
Thanks
Lol how many would one need......
lol…all of them😂
How highly do you recommend injora over traxxas brand upgrade parts?
@@hunterthompson6587 So far I really like these Injora suspension links although Traxxas didn’t have aluminum links for the K10 high trail when I bought these. The Injora driveshafts are a nice upgrade as well. I actually preferred the Traxxas stainless steel skid plates over the Injora ones though. The Traxxas upgrade parts are nice enough, but they are definitely more expensive when compared to Injora’s upgrade parts.
ALWAYS WANTED ONE THE 1/16 SCALE WAS 199.99 LAST SPRING DONT THINK WE WIL SEE THOSE NUMBERS AGAIN
Wow, that's a great price for a mini E-Revo. Was it brushless? I paid about $350.00 for my mini E-Revo 14 years ago. The Revo platform is one of my favorites. I have the E-Revo 2.0, mini E-Revo VXL, and a nitro Slayer. The Slayer needs an engine rebuild/new piston and sleeve installed. I probably needs seals and o rings replaced at this point as well. It's been in storage for about ten years. Time sure does fly...I didn't realize it had been that long until just now.
I’ve seen some at my hobbystore near by selling them for $199 still, I can check it out again sometime soon and see if they still sell it. 😊
@@GlitchPG3D Nice, hopefully you can get your hands on one👍.
I can do better
No doubt 😂
My wheels dont turn when i try controlling it with the controller, why that might be?
You could have a bad steering servo or you could have something lodged in the steering assembly. Did you have a crash?
Can you use this light kit with an aftermarket motor/esc? I am thinking of getting the HW Fusion Pro.
It’s meant to be used with stock esc and motor, but probably could be modified to work with an aftermarket set up. You might have to modify the connector going to the esc and the connectors that hook up to the motor wires.
I looked at the HW Fusion Pro and it is an all in one system. I’m not sure that this light kit would work with the HW Fusion Pro. There is no separate esc to plug into. You could get most of the functions to work except for the brake and reverse lights. You have to plug into an esc and motor for those functions to work properly. Maybe you could splice into the programming wire and that might work, but it is such an enclosed system I think it will be difficult. I was thinking of upgrading my truck to brushless at one point, but I have other rigs that are brushless, so I just don’t see the point. I just got a Traxxas UDR that I made a bunch of modifications to. I definitely can’t wait to get it out for its maiden run🤪.
Hi i have a summit i know itsa lil different but i put a mamba 6s system in it i keep break the plastic driveshafts i havent heard many good things about the aluminum ones what would you recommend
I know Traxxas used to make steel constant velocity driveshafts for the T-Maxx, E-Maxx, Summit, and E-Revo 1.0. I found these on Amazon, they look just like them and are cheaper. I’m not sure how they will hold up to 6s, but I’m sure 4s would be fine. The transmission and diffs might not last long on 6s in a Summit as well. Good luck and here is a link to the driveshafts: ARRCat Drive Shaft CVD Upgrades Parts for 1/10 T-Maxx/E-Maxx/Revo,4PCS Front Rear #45 Steel Axles Driveshafts Hop-up,Replace #5451R,Navy Blue a.co/d/08EVoPFd
Thank you so much I keep it on 4s most of the time lol but the castle system I’m using is not the new version they have have with smooth acceleration it bogs a lot so I might look for a new system

Great video. Question, do you find that the rubber wheels fall/Peel off the aluminum hub?
Thanks, they are definitely a snug fit. I don’t see the rubber wheelie bar tires coming off easily.
@@beyondthebluerc1 I since got them. I like the fit and they look so nice. Thanks.
I check your video many times in slow mode. But still not sure whether the car dashboard, the circuit and three round meters on the right has light? Does it has light on the ceiling between the the door? Also, the beast kingdom website says it needs three LR-44 batteries. Do you know where to put them and why needs them? Thanks
Yes, the dashboard does light up and the meters on the passenger side light up as well. There are some lights on the ceiling as well. It is quite detailed for it’s size. I’m not sure where the batteries go. I didn’t see a compartment anywhere that would take batteries. When I have time I will take another look though.

Those cateyes suck, Nightrider is what I use, great light. I use the 1100 and carry the 900 boost in a bag incase the main light runs out of juice. My rides are from 2 to 4 hours at night so never run lights over medium use to keep battery going low is to low for the ridding I do.
Yeah, I will never go back to Cateye. These NiteRider lights are amazing.
So you can tell how much its charged without that meter? I jus got one and have no idea when to take it off charge
It plugs into a Traxxas charger. Then you plug your battery into the adapter. The charger should tell you when the battery is finished charging.
Now it says +10 so if you measure it should be about 15.5mm from hex face to hex back. Could you let me know if thats the case because im in the market for some
Yes, you are correct. They are 10mm plus counting the hex that screws on to the driveshaft.
