I can remember when I was a kid my great uncle put out his old Christmas tree once a year off the end of his dock, usually when the ice was frozen he would drag it out there and it could melt through. It was always Dwiddled down to 1/4 of its size by the next Christmas entire area was sandy but where the trees were placed it was dark and musky bottom. Rocks stacked up like a cichlid tank was better imo

When it comes to the pressure bite, I know what you are talking about! The rod seems heavier and for the lack of a better word almost like a dull moment, something ain't right! Set the hook!

i totally agree with sticking with a good setup that works. when i dropped down from the Okuma 8.6 to 8ft rod it threw me way off. even using the same 4lb Sufix line and 1/32 jighead i could tell a big difference.

This is why I stopped using ACC stix and went back to BnM almost exclusively for most of my crappie rods. I could never ever notice the light inhaled bites on ACC rods no matter what. I would guess a good 50%+ of my catches on them in those fishing conditions without a thump, were absolute accidents. Just pull up randomly and WTH, fish is on? No indication whatsoever. I still have them if I ever decide to install a live sonar, but I am just not comfortable with them at all.

Pink is a good color, especially pink jigheads. Next time you throw a net for shad look closely at them. Notice how some of the shad have pink on the nose and head. This is an indication that the shad isn’t getting enough oxygenated water and waste, mainly ammonia, isn’t being released from the bloodstream. When this happens, the shad is weakening and usually close to death. All fish, especially crappie know this. If shad are what you’re trying to mimic, a red face will make a difference. Crappie are predators, they single out the weakest prey.
