I need to correct Trevor regarding his claim that no one in Germany is minimizing the Holocaust. There are people here who say that the Holocaust never happen and there are people here, who think the Holocaust was a good thing. I don't know how many Germans are of either opinion, but those people do exist, unfortunately.

I really commend Prachi Gupta for being courageous enough to make her family's story public and in the process debunk the fallacy of the model minority myth that many South Asian American immigrants cling to for dear life. There is such a burden of shame and silence so many live under and we do not have safe spaces in our community to speak of such things. My Indian immigrant parents lived a life of total honesty and authenticity, almost to a fault. There was no such thing as being one way to desis and another way at home. I naturally imbibed this my whole life and I have had difficulty connecting to our community for that. If that is the price I have to pay for being 100% authentic, so be it. My life has been richer for it.

Absolutely loved this interview. Understated grace and elegance, love Cody's vibe. Living deep in a hollar in the Smoky Mountains I doubt if I will ever run into him, but if I did my hat would come off and a fist bump to my heart would follow. Voting for Obama was one of the best moments of my life, hard to believe that was, like 14 years ago. Now pushing towards 70 years old and seeing America dangling between hell and hallowed ground it seems like a century. What else to say? Hopefully we end in joy.

In 1973 my family took a trip to Mississippi in July very hot July. Ms was a very scarry place back then! Its not much better now. Sorry MS. That's been my experience when I've been there! Anyway it was hot I was thirsty. And there was a water fountain on the out side of the Building cool right! So I ran over being 7 years old. I started to get a drink of water! Nothing special about it it wasn't cold but it was wet. Then....... I feel my mom's hand reach around my arm and yank me away from the water fountain! I start to cry. And I start to knowtice a lot of mad white people around. Me and my folks..... yep there was a sign over th he fountain blacks only! 1973! Its the most scared I remember being as a kid!
