What I carry in my overlanding tool kit.
This week I go over what I keep in my @BlueRidgeOverlandGear tool bag and what kind of tools you should buy to gets started in your off-roading and overlanding adventures. It's not as intimidating as you think and if you get your tools from Harbor Freight it can be quite affordable while still getting good quality with the Icon line.

Good video, when making my kit I thought about going harbor freight also, but went autozone/duralast just cause they are everywhere and never given me a problem.

Excellent video and very thought provoking too...I don't do any serious off roaring anymore, but do venture into fairly rural areas here in the UK, and end up on farm and forestry tracks, on farmers fields ect. I have accumulated various tool kits over the years but found I did not carry them as they took up too much room or were too heavy ect. I have therefore started to put together a bare bones kit based around a 3/8" socket set and a set of the more common metric wrenches. With regards screwdrivers, I am going to use a 6 in 1 to cover most tasks, although i will also include a flat head beater, and a 6 in 1 stubby as well. For Allen and Torx, in think in will go with bit sets rather than full size keys.. For electricals, I am using a 6.5" Carlyle crimping pliers with built in wire stripers and also a set of needle noose, again with some stripping notches built in. A pair of 6" dykes will round out that section. One thing I notice you didn't include which might be helpful is a small basic/cheap multimeter and/or a 12v test lamp. I really like that tool case and wish I could find a smaller more compact version here in the UK. I have a shallow space under the rear seats of my vehicle where I plan to store the kit so it's out of the way but still accessable so need something that is essentially "flat" rather than a roll or a traditional or ammo box. Thanks again for the video as it sort of validated where I was going with my own ideas...

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad it has worked well for you. I love to see customer reviews as it helps me improve the product. I now include custom rail nuts instead of the spring nuts to make it easier to install. I was including a rivnut with the kit at first but stopped due to differences between the hole diameter if you have or don't have a spray-in bedliner. I will look at adding one of those back to the kit for those who want to use it. Thanks!!
