What a splendid, evocative work! It reminded me of a piece by Béla Bartók ((one practically unknown even by Bartok aficionados) for women's chorus and chamber ensemble that included a Lullaby, a poignant, unison melody set against tart harmonies that reflected the composer's efforts to reimagine ancient Magyar folk songs.

Beyond beautiful! Your second recording of this exquisite Billy Joel ballad is even more emotive, if that’s possible, than your last version. Thanks for changing the male soloist to a Tenor voice. This singer’s vocals blended so very nicely with the song’s message. The choir’s harmony is so well matched as to sound like one melodic voice. This performance convinces me to put hearing your group perform live on to my bucket list. One day….

BEST VERSION!

A stunning version of one of Billy Joel's most unrecognized masterpieces. The emotion of the song is palpable when the full choir sings. Choir members are masters at singing so emotionally with one voice. Maybe because Joel is a tenor, the solo part by a bass seemed miscast for this song. An outstanding singer, for sure, a lighter and higher male voice would better complement the emotional intensity of the choir. Thank you for recording this contemporary classic.
