Here is Why I Haven’t Sold The Ford Escort Yet
In this not so informative video, you join me on a short drive in the Ford Escort.
This Escort is one of the earliest car I ever purchased. In fact this car has been with me the longest when compared to all the cars under my ownership at the moment.
I have sold the BMW 2002Tii and the Alfa Romeo 1750GTV, but this is the one that stayed. Why?
Well part of it is because it is far from perfect. I tend not to sell my car until I feel like my journey with it is complete. But another reason is simply because the excitement and joy this car brings to me. It can make any drive feel like an adventure and an event.
This is the kind of car the I hope to use more, but I always hesitate to do so. When I finally do, I am always blown away by how direct and raw this thing is.
I hope you can get a sense of what this beast is like to drive. Enjoy.

Great review. I liked your presentation style. The sad thing is I live In the united states. This car is not available for us and likely will never be. My choices are only the RS6, Upcoming M5 Touring(Hybrid), and possibly the Upcoming AMG E53 Wagon(Hybrid).

u keep saying go STAND ALONE as if we know what the hell that means... watched the vid and a few interesting things u did to her but no clue what ur talking about regards stand alone with an ecu... can only guess u used a completely diff modern ecu that stands alone from the rest.. or um... u broke circuits down individually or what ?

Great video and explanations! I have a 944 Turbo that is getting a Maxxecu. The problem is I cannot find a tuner familiar with the Maxxecu. How did you get it tuned? I hope to find someone who can do it remotely, then maybe a dyno after that. Thanks!
Just admit the power scared the shit out of you so you had no idea how to drive it threw corners and didn’t have the balls to actually test it. Oh and about the brakes. 100kph - 0 in 33m. It will put you through the windscreen with no belt. Tried it myself.

I used to buy the ‘80’s German car magazines at the local cigar store. This four door AMD model was reviewed in the dark, inky, metallic blue, a similar color Porsche called Petrol. Best, great channel, as always.

@@FizzyMotors Big LOVE for MST & how they continue to develop both MK1 and 2 platforms - You mentioned your engine is from the Ford Ranger with forged internals - you running standard cams ? Have you dynod the car ? Very responsive all the way through which is solid. I am in the process of installing a 2litre Pinto with a 285deg Piper cam with some engineering done to the head..... Not sure it will be as meaty as your setup but should be good.
@Italanmo yea it has upgraded cams, makes 190hp at the wheels. Unfortunately I don’t know the spec of the cams because the previous mechanic did not tell me…

@@FizzyMotors which car would be? I bought an e34 m5 that's gonna take some work to get back up to scratch. Replaced the vacuum hosing but its definitely missing power and doesnt drive rich.... I think it's the MAF. DOnt have endless money, have a kid coming, and dont wrench myself, so wondering if it's worth the toil to get it running nice
@florianhaake5590 lol i was in your shoes. Kid coming and a stubborn m5. I sent my MAF to an expert in the UK to have it fixed, came back slightly better but the car was still not perfect. Thats what pushed me to go fully standalone. I think your best is to find an expert near you instead of trying the tackle the problem yourself using forums. Not worth losing sleep over it. My favorite car is probably the 996 GT3. But many close seconds.

I initially was looking at a 996 Turbo but then thought i would get the e34 m5 because cheaper and i do think the practicality will make me use it more for trips and stuff. By the end of it I will probably have put as much into the e34 as if I had just gone with the 996 turbo in the first place :P Long story short you're saying it's worth it i guess, which is good to hear

Hi From the UK. I'm thinking of buying a 2009 FD2. What do you think of the car? Is it amazing. Why did you have to rebuild the engine as this really scares me and would it happen to me? Is the car easily to live with? Too stiff? Thanks Richard
The K20 engines these cars came with are pretty bulletproof and can easily see over 300,000km with basic (but regular) maintenance. A lot of them do like burning oil so definitely keep an eye on that. His engine was blown up due to his friend misshifting, causing the engine to hit 12,000rpm, but that sort of error can just about kill any engine. Suspension-wise, Type R's are quite stiff but everyone has different tolerances - I'd say take one for a drive first.

Totally enjoyed that. I could almost feel the driving experience through the screen. Not quite as old as the Escort but I get a similar experience when I'm in my modified Integra DC2 Type R, especially around the sea of modern cars on the road with all their creature comforts. I love the Escorts of that Era!

I never even thought about the difference a smaller steering wheel would make? Just changing that standard steering wheel with a good, smaller aftermarket/tuner wheel to nicely weight up the steering is a great and easy solution to this problem.

Love the look of that engine, it looks stock and sits in the engine bay perfectly! Other than the larger 16 valve heads and larger overall size it could almost be a standard engine. Incredible build!
Such a staggeringly cool car! Here in the UK we absolutely IDOLISE Escorts, especially the old ones. Its a great choice of old car as all the parts are still available as it was such an incredibly popular race car. Great video mate!

Nice review of your experience; I also drove/tested the M3 touring as a daily driver…I did not want to love it (because of the looks), but it’s an amazing car and I loved driving it! I think it’s a great daily, but not a great “special” weekend toy. Sadly the front is not the nicest and the digital dashboard is just plain ugly :( By the way: as a Speedmaster nerd; nice Speedmaster Racing Michael Schumacher edition you are wearing.

I've understood the rattling from the exhaust is normal ? Just received mine today and i heard the valves make a rattling sound as if the valves are broken or loose and the car is brand new !

@FizzyMotors i always had noisy cars but the exhaust note shouldnt make a rattling noise, i had my valves break in a r8 facelift and even warranty couldnt fix it because it was a known problem with the new audi r8. This porsche sounds good but the rattle is annoying, it sounds like a mechanical defect 🤣 I always buy valve control modules so i will see if the rattling dissapears.
