Couch Potato to Wild Critter 4 phases: Corrective/Low&Slow/Nimble/Wild Critter *Bonus: Ninja Critter
Couch Potato to Wild Critter Personal Fitness Program helps to overcome injury and make us more durable humans!
If you want to play as freely as a child, be nimble as a ninja, and explosive as an animal, then you have to move like one!
Believe me, being human, and getting off the couch, out of our comfort zone is intimidating, scary, and can be dangerous if not done properly. It’s always challenging, and absolutely needs to be done slowly, with tender loving care, and a good sense of humor!
The goal is to move like a wild creature, a ninja, or a child once again: with joy, control, and ease, allowing for fluid transitions from low to high levels, explosive power, a quiet, supple grace, and finally: the ability to roll and fall without injury.
First, we identify our weaknesses and move to strengthen and support them: working synergistic muscle groups, developing proximal core stability and distal mobility through a full range of motion.
In this course and Always!: be patient with yourself. building new habits and finding long lost muscles takes time, honest reflection, a little sweat equity, and diligence.
Keep in mind: Good Things Take Time, we begin with the first step right now, and we take that step again every day for the rest of our lives, and little by little, we shall overcome.
It's never too late to Begin a whole new life!
No matter your age three factors determine the quality of your life: ability to balance on one leg, grip strength, and ability to stand from the ground…in modern terms: Get your butt off the couch and keep your booty moving!
Do you have injuries or limitations that prevent you from living the life you envision? Are you an athlete ready take it to the next level? A hunter who wishes to step quietly, invisibly through the forest? Do you need help doing daily activities, feel stiff, sore, Weak, and downright scared to fall?
Do you wish to become an aware and durable badass?
The pain of physical degeneration, neglect and stagnation is far greater than any discomfort you find in this course.

    you don't need lye. soak the hide in water, rain water or from a stream. add wood ashes to the water, stir the water wood ashes up . only takes a few days to week to get the hair to slip. wood ash and water is much safer and free.

    • @AncientEarthSkillsLenMackey
      @AncientEarthSkillsLenMackey Před 7 měsíci

      you can try heating them at about 180-200 degrees F to cook out any moisture. Smooth out any chunky spots if there are any. sometimes when the key has been tuned sharp too much it may lose its full resonance

    This is a really good video. I watch an unreasonable number of videos on primitive skills and survival techniques and usually they do a great job giving you the basics. Your videos do quite a bit more than that. I feel like anyone who knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about tanning a hide could watch this, understand it, and do it. I'm also very impressed with the way you address issues that may or may not occur at certain points in the processes you show. It's very easy for things to go wrong for anyone attempting these types of primitive skills for the first time and it's doubly important to remain calm and especially manage your expectations. GL to all the hunters in 2023.

    OK Im confused...and about to attempt stringing up a balaphon. After you wrap the key 9 times, how do you "go over the inside" when stringing the second side? On the first side you lifted the key and ran the string under to accomplish that. How do you work the second side, when the key is already lashed down on the opposite side, and you cant lift the key? What am I missing? I/m shocked I found a video on lashing up a balaphon. Thanks for sharing. Id be super appreciative if someone can help me with my question..... which is probably exceedingly difficult using words rather than video!

    Thanks for showing the process of restringing!! Really great video. I have a couple of questions: 1. what is the finale scale? (A B C D E F G) what about the original Gyil pentatonic scale (what would the notes be?). 2. How important is it to adjust the Gourd Resonators tuning to match the bars (something that is critical with Orchestra versions like Marimba, Vibes, Xylo, Vibes). My older balafon uses what appears to be cigarette paper for buzzing membranes. (I think it might be a type of spider web.) I don't have a source for African plastic bags would any thin membrane work. 3. It looks like you're using cyanoacrylate "hot stuff" type glue to attach the membrane. I would assume that an adhesive made to hold paper together would work as well and would be a little less toxic than super glue (and might be easier to remove). Any info and additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated....THANKS!!!

    • @AncientEarthSkillsLenMackey
      @AncientEarthSkillsLenMackey Před rokem

      Awesome! Glad it was helpful. tuning is C major or A minor, with the base note of A 432. Not sure about the traditional pentatonic gyil tuning? In old times a maker's balafons were all in tune with one another, and when he would meet another artist they may tune their balafons to play together harmoniously. I study primarily balafon, though you can find a teacher who will know at the Wula Drum and Dance Retreat. They have an excellent gyil instructor at the event, or can connect you with her. Traditionally they did use spider web!!! So it's good luck to find a spider in your bala! Tyvec, cig paper, thin plastic, any membrane that produces a nice timbre is good and most any glue will work for sure. Test everything and find what works best for you. :-) All the best!
