It seems to me the best idea is to not gamble on the Strip or even downtown. Away from the Strip, like out on the Boulder Highway, or the other casinos that are not on or near the Strip.

What about poker? Do locals stay away from the strip for poker also? I would think in poker they would want to play tourists but the rake might be too high on the strip.

Proof positive. Center Strip Travelodge is gone. The Travelodge prices, are the same as OYO hotel and casino after there resort fees, the SAME. For $250 more, you can stay at the D Las Vegas, or the Plaza on Fremont, or for appx. $350 more, stay at the Strat after all resort fees. Thats it. I changed my mind from Travelodge, and after taxes and resort fees, only $250 more to stay on Fremont. Thanks for the info, and saving my vacation from turning into a disaster

Every time I go to Vegas, I win a small fortune; that’s because I avoid the strip.
